That is a pity Surge that you are such a diehard and have taken in all the BS Bush has put us through the last eight years. ... If that is the case then it is time to listen and read all the articles and base your thoughts on the facts and not put aside those issues that do not seem to belong in your well censored world., To start with do a little fact finding on the Obama issue and the truth is McCain has lied and tried to deceive everyone and got caught at it.

At least the news agencies are calling McCain on his deceptions.. Deceptions??? Same personality and direction Bush has been known for, and again treading in the same footsteps of the leadership of China.. No wonder he has gotten along so well with China in his eight years of presidency, and then add into the non-sense of how Mr. Bush could see into the soul of Putin and what a good guy he was as he threatened to veto everything the US stood for against Iran and as he at the same time stepped backwards away from democracy in Russia.... One has to admit, this bush administration has been a real joke , not just here in the US but around the world, we should be proud if that is what we like to be seen as... Now McCain.. war mongering Mr. righteous and troop loving, as if anyone does not respect our service men.. What a crock these republicans are these days.. I am certain my vote will cancel yours if you do not smarten up and open your eyes to the truth and reality!

Sorry Surge, if that was a rant, it is a shame it is all fact that republicans and their supporters would rather ignore and play it off as something trivial when it is entirely not trivial when it comes to life and death, security of one’s nation, and being looked at by the world in a positive light instead of being seen as some dark mysterious untrustworthy land of Satan.

Now look at the lies coming out from the McCain camp, as usual the republicans will say and do anything to get into power again.

If anyone has any shame, or sense, they should be looking towards the democratic side which any change from what we have could only better the lives here in the US and around the world as well.. What we have now has really downgraded the US all over the world.

Do not back the lies that McCain is trying to feed everyone and is being called on,this very moment with this Obama trip overseas.

I wish all could have all the facts about this trip by Obama and what lies the republicans are trying to put forth as truth. The media here in the US is really pointing out McCain’s lies about Obama’s trip and the big over blown issue on visiting wounded troops in Germany. The networks are really pushing McCain’s statements as lies at this time here in the US.

All about Obama not visiting because cameras were not allowed to go in with him, the truth was.. there was never going to be cameras going in with him. McCain saying he made time to exercise instead of visiting the troops, while in McCain’s add on TV about this issue, It showed Obama playing Basketball.... Basketball????? Yes basketball with the " Troops" in Kuwait.. What the republicans will do to try and put down an opponent as the republicans have again and again use lies, and scare tactics to gain a vote.. Dirty Dogs!!!!!! Just listened to McCain’s lack of support over the last couple of years with voting against medical support for veterans, period of rest put forth by Jim Webb, against millions for upgraded armor, and goes on and on, and he is trying to exert lies about Obama when it comes to the troops?? Again the joke is on the republicans and those supporting them… Now a well known question.. are we better off today then we were 8 years ago.. How many will say yes to that and really believe it?

If this is a rant, then let us point out the lies or untruths within it.. And what lies are in the pre-post described by Surge as a rant… These republican supporters just can not stand up and admit to their mistakes they have made but try and shift the blame to the other side while at the same time holds the responsibility of why the US is in the condition it is today and what the US is seen to be around the world today..

Republican straight liners live in a dream world. It is also a shame so many American GI’S has been killed and so many many injured and laying in hospitals because of the republican controlled offices and republican leader’s lack of competence from the very start of the Iraq war. Oops, is this an extreme comment, or is it just the plain facts!!!!!

Oh well there are radicals on both sides, we are just witnessing a little on the right. I guess that is the only way the radical republicans can look past their incompetence, is to try and pass on the blame to the democrats that have been out of power for 8 l- o- n- g years when all has fallen apart within the last eight years, even our leadership and image around the world because of lies and deception some here are wishing to stand behind and support. And still all has went down with these politicians in control. not reviving anything.
And when was the Trade Centers brought down? Under who’s watch? Oh yeah, hey lets blame the democrats since they told the Bush administration about the Alquida being a major threat and as the republicans in control decided to forget the intelligence of terrorists using planes and the timing of when it was about to happen… I just wish there was some competency earlier when Bush launched the Iraq war so there would not be so many injured soldiers laying in military hospitals for one to visit.. All water under the bridge at this point because of the fact, Bush’s policies screwed many people except his large corporate interests wanting to fill their pockets.

I know the truth hurts and it is hard to face up to such devistating facts of all that has went on in the last eight years, but it is time to face up to reality and change what has been going on for the sake of the USA.

Surge. the republican administration tried their best to have us defeated in the beginning of the war in Iraq, They were the ones that were incompetent when all wanted more troops Rumsfield said NO! Then after the dead American count got above 3,000 and close to 4,000, they come up with a brilliant idea.. DUH, lets send in more troops that can handle the situation.. Like this was their own idea??????????? One they would not commit to until thousands of US military men were already dead.. PETHETIC !!!

The republican straight liners are so stinking blind!!!!!!!!! Then go and try to blame everyone else but themselves that are the root of the problem to begin with.. UNBELIEVABLE!

As we are reading, the republican backers read into deception as being fact when an article that states the facts are right infront of them to read...

The reason for Obama to not visit is right here in black and white..but some I guess that can not understand truth, can not read as well.

But let us hope the majority of the Americans will see past the lies , the deception and scare tactics the republicans has used in the past and look at the truths and facts that many wish to ignore. We are seeing many around the world as sick of the republican agenda as the majority here in the US. A pitty for some, but a future for all of us to wish for.

How fun some rep. are. As the article said His spokesman has claimed that the visit to a military hospital in Germany was scrapped after the Pentagon raised concerns about political activity on a military base.

So the same blind Republicans that want to criticize are from the same group that has made the comment about political activity on military bases.. Very typical... and of course of no suprise. hahaha

Get a life dummies, You Bush supporters and selected choice as commander and chief have done a great job these last 7 years... and the incompetence of such has killed many brave servicemen and I am not pertaining to being in Iraq, but being in Iraq under incompetent leadership from the war planners under BUSH!. Give me a friggen break!

Now look at all trying to fall in the same line as Obama on position on every problem overseas.. Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!! Even talking to Iran, trying to dal with N. Korea, something Bush said he would never do as he put down Clinton for doing, and the withdraw from Iraq which Bush and McCain now is supporting. VER VERY FUNNIE!!! But it is typical of Republicans using war, scare tactics, some sort of heroism as a back ground for support at the expense of American lives. Hey , sounds a little like China leadership.. Oh yeah rep have supported that whole heartedly as well.. Oh well what more to say?? Let’s vote Republican.. Yeah right!

USARonin I was thinking about India as I was posting, but left it out because atleast it is a democracy and even in India the people have a voice when it comes to decisions and expression. So I give them some room as for reform forced by society which is not the case in China.

What ever the bas is for our system, we have only tweeked it to make it as the world leader in a system seen as a model for other developing societies to follow.

As a people based government, the voices are heard and followed when it comes to issues that have public support such as pollution control. Also the right to speak out freely and to assemble which brings up the right to protest the issues that are important. This is not the case with China and all seems to look the other way on issues when it comes to China. Just more and more disadvantages to domestic production., and we are supoose to compete?? Time for all to compete on an equal footing!

The USA may not have been formed and as old as many, but what was formed and shaped has made it the greatest nation in the world. Like it or not. All based on our principles. Now there is something no one else has yet to monopolize on and seems no one else wishes to , maybe because of jealousy knowing that if they tried and failed they would be seen as fools. The US has played their part in pollution control as we see in every plant that is still hanging on in this country with all the scrubbers that they were forced to build into their systems. To say we have lacked in any measures on pollution seems to be a mis guided outlook as for as I see it , we have only been the promoter of a cleaner environment that has spread the word around the world, except for a few such as should be the priority CHINA!!!!!!!! Let us hope our athletes come back still healthy from Beijing!!!!!

sushisake. I own a few vehicles, plus, backhoe, dump truck, motorcycle, and.. what is the point? With the rise we have given China, I do not use any of them like I use to or would like, because of the price of fuel. It is not that I do not like Chinese, but it is that I definitely do not like supporting the government of China become more and more powerful and a symbol of control and force. Now if China was our friend and a country of the people I would not mind as much and also there would be more mutual understanding and I feel less competivness based on the power issue that China’s communists have always had as their goal at any cost, but again , just my opinion..

One point I will make is that now we have reached , as experts say a critical point with the destroying of the natural environment and now we have communist controlled China taking over the lead in pollution and many here want the US to take the responsibility of what is happening now when it is not just the US and other western countries. It is the lack of the industry regulations in China and where all of these corporations are going so not to have to abide by any regulations on emissions. You may talk about past years and pollution , but as we all know there is EPA and other environmental groups that hold a lot of clout in these matters and helps to establish pollution controls and emissions of our home based industries and at a very high cost.

Yes I agree with the idea Bush is kissing the butt of large corporations, especially those that have moved overseas eluding the expense of pollution controlling standards we have here as we speak. But we are supporting these large corporations that have moved overseas and supporting the continual flow of raw emissions as we buy the goods from countries such as China where the main pollution is now coming from. Yes Bush is kissing butt but not just of those left here in the US producing goods where there are emission controls in place but he has very openly supporting corporations that are putting raw pollution by the billions of tons into the air that are in China where the government has no one to be accountable to or groups to deal with and will not take into consideration as industries here and government here must contend with..

I do not believe the US should take any further action or add any more costs to what businesses are left here, but should stop importing items from businesses that are in countries that have not any regulations or organizations with any clout to stop the massive raw pollutants that these so called developing countries are emitting.

If we support China and the likes of, we are supporting total destruction of the environment. Now it is time to pressure the main polluter of the world and that is CHINA>>

Inaction.. I have worked in a few plants and all had the extra expense of equipment and personnel to keep this extra equipment operational.. Now that China is taking over all the dirty industry and we have put so much money into pollution control that has hampered us as another stumbling stone to put us out of contention with these other countries that do not exercise even a fraction of pollution control we have here in the states and the rest of the western nations, I find it very ridiculous for us to take it even further and take us further out of the running as for competition with these so called developing nations when we have lost most of our manufacturing jobs as it is. It is time to practice these pollution controls by others that already have us over a barrel competively speaking when all are talking global warming and the heck with the others that are only taking advantage of our heavily enforced pollution control factors implemented over the last 30 some years while countries such as China are doing nothing!!!!!!!! I am not a supporter of Bush, but I am a supporter of trying to keep all fair when it comes to equal footing when it comes to production and right now it is not fair and equal when it comes to such countries as China.. This is just another nail in the coffin among others, of our domestic industries which is continually disappearing in the western nations. Like it or not, we should not be the only ones holding the burden and should not be more and more subjected to regulations that other countries could care less about and are doing nothing about global warming. These so called developing nations with growth rates of 10% will not commit to such standards, as many here wish we would go further with. But where is the anger and the riff against those nations that are doing nothing about global warming? These developing nations wish to play dumb as if they are to far behind to take on the same responsibilities. Just keep adding these additional burdens to our companies here as we run more and more of them out and they establish their bases in countries that could care less about pollution and global warming. I am for a freeze of all of this until those that are doing nothing , are forced to share the burden as well, which as for now they are not!!!! Just take a look at the air conditions where the Olympics are to be held!!!!!!!! Then look at the economical growth of that country compared to ours, as we are so called developed nations… What a CROCK!!!!!!! I am for supporting the environment, but not when it is only at our own expense while others are taking advantage of these same issues that are costing us jobs and industries and turning their backs on these same industries that further puts us out of contention when it comes to fair and equal competition between countries. Maybe that is another issue for the WTO to take up and to force upon those nations that could care less and that have no organizations confronting their deficiencies as us so called developed free nations have to contend with.! Hey. If we totally enforce it here at home and companies close down and move where there is no enforcement, the pollution will be sent up into the atmosphere regardless… but just from a different location.

The assumption that this plant does such a wonderful job of cleaning dirt has nothing to do with such a rosy conception that it would be an honor to have your name placed upon it.. hahaha Come on, who the heck is trying to fool who..

Bush= sewage!!!!!!!! That is the intent and that is what all sees it as being. Try to paint it in a positive way if you like but that does not change the perception given by such an action. The Bush legacy is that of failure!!!!!!! That goes definitely for the loss of lives in the Iraq war from the incompetence of all with him, and under him. What a shame and a sham! Then move to the deals with China and over looking what was to be held for promises they had made when joining the WTO. The US has many problems these days and Mr. Bush has only contributed to them. And besides the WTO commitments, we have the biggest trade deficit in history with the biggest communist country of the world that is building its forces against solely……us!!!!!!

Faith in a country is nothing to faith in a leader. No faith in Bush does not mean one has no faith in the country. Maybe the sewage Bush has brought to the US should leave a landmark to remember his time of reign and maybe this will open the eyes of many so such a looser that is suppose to represent Americans, never gets voted in again!!!!!

Easy to see blinded republicans on here and people with sense such as democrats and independents. Hahahaha But there are radicals in all parties as well, all three parties. Die hard Rep, Die hard. Dem. And also some totally out there Indep.

Now make sure everyone goes to vote so we can get these sicko money hungry, incompetent politicians that would sell their soles and the country’s integrity to the highest bidder, out of office!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone mentions about SF flag burners??? Bush has down graded our flag big time around the world in his eight glorious years,, Lets hear the ones talking about flag burning ridicule Bush’s incompetence and what he has made our flag stand for including attending the opening ceremonies that many leaders are associating the brutal crack down in Tibet along with China’s funding of the mass killings of innocent people of Dufur. Now that is degrading the American Flag and what it stands for.. What a disgrace Bush has brought to this country and what people around the world sees when looking at an American flag. His so called wars also showed how incompetent the strongest military in the world can be.. Get his butt out of there and bring respect back into the Country of the US!!!

The association with sewage and Bush would also bring recognition around the world that the people of the US is not in support of such leaders with the mindset of Bush and his buddies..

Iran has all the energy resources it needs. Why nuclear? They do not need it and should not have it. They are lead by radicals and the world will be safer if they are denied nuclear . If it is going to take force to stop them , then let it be. It seems there in the beginning they were not going to accept any dealings and go forward no matter what. The closer the threat of force have come, now they are playing a part in,,,, hmm maybe we can reach a deal.. Where did this change of haert come from? They know they can be stopped if not in one way, but can be in another!!!

Taka313 Thanks for the article. I did read about that in a popular Science magazine a while back it is very interesting, but to get all going and something like that in production on a lrge scale is another story that has to have the push from those with power and not a power that would cripple its existence. Our politicians do more to hamper such changes and advancements rather than to bring them forward.

I do see ethanol as a big hoax as when ethanol was pushed before it had to be subsidized by the government to bring the price down because of the expense to make it. So what about sugar cane compared to corn?? Just watched a special on Brazil showing ethanol from sugar cane with a 80% increase of ethanol over corn....And Brazil being totally energy self reliant...because they addressed the problem I think they said 20 years ago...maybe 10, I am not sure the time span they have been concentrating on the issue. I am thinking 20 years. Corn is a waste as for alternative energy , I believe. But with such as advantage sugar cane has over corn, why are these facts being not recognized here in the US when it comes to ethanol as an alternative source? An 80% advantage is really something that should be considered.
