This is absurd.
If Australia feels so strongly about the dangers of smoking they should just go ahead and outlaw the damn things.

Robots, surprisingly perhaps, don't tend to do much better in high radiation enviroments than humans. Even the temperature range in which complex electronics operate is generally pretty narrow.

Is it "worse"? A remarkably stupid question. These sorts of things are decided by data, not polls.

What is to be said? It's not like the event was unexpected. Nor, does it really change much of anything. Al-Zawahiri makes a rather uncharasmatic head for Al-Qaida (compaired to OBL), and he was already in charge of the day-to-day stuff anyway.
So, meh.

Lieberman,
He will be. He'll also be under armed guard and constant video survalence. This on top of surrendering his passport, posting 1 million in cash and 5 million bond.

I wonder if they will take away his passport and then fit him with an ankle monitor? Or put him under house arrest in a hotel (...wait, that might not be the best choice!). That's the only way I can see him being given bail.

I don't see what him being Jewish has to do with anything; it certainly won't gain him extra points at trial.

You do, do you? It's an expansive, multi-room suite. According to the accusation, the maid came sometime after noon - when most guests are out, and cleaning takes place - knocked, then announced herself. She had no way of knowing he was there until he popped out of the bathroom, which was on the other side of the suite. What is so hard to grasp about this?

The hallway he is alleged to have chased her down was inside his $3000 a night suite, so unless you imagine that they put security cameras inside guests' rooms at the Sofitel, I'm really not sure what you are on about.

If so, God willing, he will be found not guilty. Most likely, even with an aquittal, his political career is over - too many skeletons dragged out of the closet.

YuriOtani,
By longstanding tradition, the US gets the World Bank and Europe gets the IMF. While it was considered likely that the next IMF head would come from Asia, circumstances in Europe - what with the solvency crisis - make it likely that the next chief will be European as well. The current front runner, according to some sources, is a Turk. When a Non-American is chosen as the IMF head, will you come back to this board an admit you were wrong?

...and somehow his penis accidentally ends up in her mouth? Really, people need to stop fantasizing about what "might have happened."
There are three options, realistically:
1) They had sex, and it was consentual. 2) They had sex, and it wasn't consentual. 3) They didn't have sex.
It is has been strongly indicated - despite earlier reports from is lawyers - that sexual intercourse took place. Now the only question is whether it was consentual or not. Or, to put it in a more legal sense, if that intercourse can be proven to have been non-consentual beyond a reasonable doubt. That's a pretty high standard, but hopefully the forensic evidence will lead the jury to the right concusion.
May I suggest we wait for the trial to determine the facts of the case.
