At the point where fatties are the majority, skinny people will just have to suck it up. TS, I guess.

What are you thinking, man?! You're going to unbalance the plane that way, and the tail end might fall off!!

I missed that anecdote the first time around. That... sucks. I don't for a moment believe that the flight attendant couldn't have ordered the other passenger not to recline the seat. I'd be making some serious complaints to the airline, if I were in his position.
Luckily not everyone who flies is a complete jerk.

Wait for the next flight, I guess. Overweight people need to take some responsibility for their condition (even if it is medical and they can't do anything about it). That means recognizing physical realities.
At the same time, they don't deserve to be demonized for their condition. Pricing by the pound does this, in my opinion. The airlines have a responsibility, too . If the average customer is getting fatter, they should be looking into fewer, wider seats on planes.

With all due respect, Snuke, these guys were aggressively trying to break into her house. I'm failing to any "misunderstanding" going on here. I'm not buying the "but they could have been there to save the baby!" crap SolarSails is peddling.
1) It was obvious that they intended to unlawfully break into the trailer. 2) It was reasonable to assume that they were dangerous.
Thus her action was justified.
Note, too, that she waited until she saw the glint of the knife in his hand to fire. Not that I feels she needed to in my estimation.

If you can't fit in your seat, then you pay for two. Otherwise, no dice. Airlines have no business weighing people prior to boarding.

Huntsman really isn't "moderate" at all - look at his governing record, he's solidly conservative. But his manner is "moderate" - he doesn't breath fire like the other Republican candidates, doesn't spout off all the inane "Obama-is-a-Kenyan-Muslim-socialist-bent-on-destroying-America" red-meat BS that he base loves. Thus he comes off as a reasonable human being, which explains why liberals support him while conservatives, who are way too far into this culture war stuff right now, don't. No one is much paying attention to his actual record or policies.
Honestly, I think Huntsman is currently running for 2016. I like the guy, but I'm not sure he has the killer-instinct necessary in a president.

What I don't get is the Republican challengers attacking Romney from this angle... I mean, you are either pro-capitalism or you aren't, and this is capitalism. I don't see how you can call Obama a "socialist" and then turn around and criticize Romney for his time at Bain. Anything that sticks, I guess?

To rephrase, Smith, you are assuming that the warning would have scared them away. But there is a chance it wouldn't have.

The element of surprise means she's guaranteed to get one solid shot off with out him knowing. This maximizes her chance to hit. This is critically important at any time, but doubly so because there are two intruders. If she misses her first shot she may not get a second one, and there is no way she can deal with both of them at the same time.
This isn't some sort of far-fetched, fantasy situation, Smith. You are a smart man, so surely you can see this. Scaring away the intruder with a warning may indeed have been the better way to go on multiple levels, but it is a calculated risk. My overall point - that the calculation was hers and hers alone to make - stands. She did what she felt she had to do. If you were in her situation and chose differently, I would not criticize you for it. But this is a far cry from, say, shooting someone in the back as they run away with your TV.
