Just another example of politcal "correctness" gone stupid. The fault is entirely on the offended, not the offender.

This is just more proof as to why Giuliani should never be President. How's that shoe taste, Rudy?

Agreed, yabits. I just can't understand what all the shrieking about "big government" (whatever that is) is all about; after all, what do we pay our elected government leaders to do if not govern?

What I don't understand is the reasoning. Why do people think this way? Do people think that unelected bureaucrats will do a better job, then someone who gets paid based on their results?

    An excellent question, posed respectfully.

The key word in your question is "unelected". To me, the right to elect our government leaders, all the way to the President, is a dear one; I say this to underscore the point that it will always be better to be governed by those we choose (government leaders) than those we don't (business executives and corporate fat-cats). If we don't like the job our government leaders do, we vote them out; but if a business executive wants to lay off hard-working Americans and outsource jobs to foreign countries, we can't really do much about it. I can't speak for anyone else, but that's my honest take on it.

Romeo - Don't forget this one: Democrats crowed after six Senate Republicans—four from swing states Florida, Ohio, Missouri and New Hampshire and two from Republican-leaning Kansas and Kentucky—announced retirements.

Molenir - 2010 will be a very good for America; we Democrats will keep the majority of both houses of Congress. Of course, we'd prefer the Republicans act like Americans for once, and accept the hand we Democrats extend across the aisle, but it isn't likely, given the Republicans' inarguable corruption.

Still, the Honorable Nancy Pelosi will, thank God, retain her status as Speaker of the House until the end of President Obama's second term. You see, that's what happens with a party with strong leadership, like the Democratic Party.

The most important sentence of this entire article:

The one thing that heartens Democrats is that voters also don’t think much of the Republican Party, which is bleeding backers, lacking a leader and facing a conservative revolt.

    jimenezsnyder - Very insightful post.

mtimjones - Whatever "mess" you think Obama has become pales compared to the mess the Republican Party has inarguably become. The rest of America seems to agree with me:

We are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren’t, it makes us less safe

Then why the increase in US troops to Afghanistan? Cheney the Dick is just pissed off that he and bush weren't smart enough to prioritize Afghanistan over Iraq.

Explain why you are not bowing down to your President

Because we're Americans. We don't bow down to elected officials; rather, they bow to our instructions. It's called democracy.

Obama, Pfeiffer wrote, is focused on action over politics and was not afraid to talk about the threats.
“The difference is this: President Obama doesn’t need to beat his chest to prove it, and—unlike the last administration—we are not at war with a tactic (“terrorism”), we (are) at war with something that is tangible: al-Qaida and its violent extremist allies. And we will prosecute that war as long as the American people are endangered.”

    Exactly, exactly.

Personally, I felt better when Bush was in office and I can't wait for Obama's term to end ( and Sarah's to begin.)

I look forward to Obama leaving office to bring someone in who will take terrorism seriously.

Happily for America, the Republicans can't come up with a candidate who could possibly defeat Obama, therefore you'll be waiting until January 20, 2017 for him to leave office.

The latest figures released by the United Nations show that 2,021 civilians died during clashes in the first 10 months of this year, up from 1,838 for the same period last year. International forces’ stepped up efforts to protect the population has reduced civilian casualties. Taliban insurgents were blamed for 68 percent of the deaths this year — three times more than NATO forces, according to the U.N.

You must not watch the news. Well, I read the article about how an Al-Qaeda member fail to commit another act of terrorism against the US; did you read it?

President Obama couldn't even make a decision about Afghanistan for six months. Terrorists love this guy and feel encouraged by his indecision and floundering.

Taking your time to make a good decision (i.e. unlike bush) is a trait of an excellent leader, you know, like President of the United States of America Barack Hussein Obama. I'll bet those terrorists don't think he's floundering now that their attack was thwarted on Obama's watch.

Better look out, Al-Qaeda scumbags; America has a real President now, and you've pissed him off.

Al Quaida tried to blow up a plane over the United States on Obama's watch. Terrorism is alive and well now that Obama's charge.

Al Qaeda succeeded in blowing up four planes over the US on bush's watch. Terrorism is on the wane now that Obama's in charge.

Obama was hoping the MSM would bury the story. Unfortunately for him, it didn't happen.

Obama was hoping the MSM would thoroughly cover the story, thus showing his effectiveness. Unfortunately for his detractors, the coverage happened.
