haven't bothered to read the bill

Then, by all means, enlighten us with your in-depth analysis of the bill, seeing that you've obviously read and re-read all of it. LOL!

At least people called bush out on this kind of stuff, oh to have those days back, when people called the president an imbecile for waving a little to long or smiling weird. God, now if you so much as blink the wrong way toward Obama's picture your labeled a bigot and anti-american. Sad but true.

BS. Any time anyone called bush out (rightfully), that someone was immediately branded anti-American and unpatriotic. Those same accusers then turned around and spewed wishes for failure and racial slurs against Obama before he even assumed office.

I'm just glad that such hypocrites are in the minority in America. Here's hoping their numbers lessen even more.

And onwards to victory. Yet another promise kept by President of the United States Barack Hussein Obama. Too bad the last "resident" of the White House couldn't muster the balls to do the same.

    Back up your statement.

Yeah, sarge, not even eight years of President Obama's leadership can undo the mess create by the previous "president". Still, we Americans give President Obama our support; it's inarguably the right thing to do.

"Liberals" wanted Bush dead. Forgotten so soon the movies, the novels, the plays, the songs?

You are completely incapable of backing up this pitiful attempt at a "statement". On the other hand, conservative wishes for President Obama to fail, and indeed plotting to bring about his failure (a.k.a. blatant anti-Americanism) are well documented. Try a Google search on the topic and you'll see exactly what I mean.

Madverts, they sure are! Ah, let 'em whine; they've got nothing else to do these days, now that Americans have stopped them from continuing to ruin our great country.

The stories of Obama and Lincoln have become entwined by history, geography and symbolism. Their paths are viewed as not just their own, but the country’s as well — a lineage from the man who freed the slaves to the first black president in U.S. history.

A great American paying tribute to another great American. Well done, Mr. President.

Class act on the Senators part to hold to his principles.

Translation: good thing we saw his true turncoat colors before he could cause damage.

Gregg stayed true to his heart and principles.

Then why did he accept the nomination in the first place? Typical Republican turncoat.

What we got here are a bunch of flim flam artists fleecing American taxpayers.

No, no, we voted OUT the Republicans, remember? The Americans got rid of the Republican flim flam artists last November, just like we will at the mid term elections two years from now. Can't wait, tick tock!

tick tock, less than two years until the mid term election.

LOL! Two years until the Democrats kick the Republicans' asses again. xD

At least Gregg acknowledged Obama's attempts to reach across the aisle. Wow, a Republican who actually shows gratitude; we should have him bronzed.

U.S. military wants to add 30,000 troops to Afghanistan

We certainly do. Adaydream, excellent post; very well stated.

Interesting....Since this happened in Pakistan. I fail to see how going into Afghanistan is going to help. I hope your not suggesting that we invade Pakistan now.

Geography lesson for sailwind: Afghanistan borders Pakistan. We have (not enough) troops in Afghanistan; use Afghanistan as the staging area for actions against OBL.

    See how easy that was?

And to think that some idiots in America actually want us to stay in Iraq, where we're not needed, while innocents like Stanczak are murdered by Taliban trash.

US out of Iraq and into Afghanistan, for the good of the world.

Well of course Obama's weighing options for withdrawing from Iraq:

    from http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7877505.stm

US President Barack Obama's envoy to Afghanistan has said that winning the conflict there will be "much tougher" than in Iraq.

The architect of the US surge in Iraq, Gen David Petraeus, urged measures for Afghanistan similar to those in Iraq.

Gen James Jones, the new US national security adviser, told reporters at the conference that a planned doubling in the number of US troops in Afghanistan to about 60,000 was not in itself enough.

Finally, an administration that agrees with the military and security experts. No more demoralizing Republican bullsh*t to get in the way.

Here's a question: Who gives a sh*t about the Republicans?

We Americans voted the Republicans' sorry asses out of power entirely so America could ignore thier pathetic, hateful, un-American rants and move back onto the road of recovery with President of the United States Barack Hussein Obama at the helm.

The Republicans are in the minority, the Democrats gave them every opportunity to rise above party poliitics and do the right thing (for the first time in eight years); the Republicans refused.

So, simply outvote the Republicans again. Pass this stimulus bill despite and around the Republicans.

    OnTheRecord: Thanks for the laugh!

Obama wants to cut and run in Iraq and allow Iran to come in and take over, is that what you want buddy?

Nope, you're wrong again. Obama, like all good Americans, wants to ramp up efforts in Afghanistan, capture/kill OBL, and finally get justice for 9/11. Sorry if that's not what you want.

There hasn't been an attack on the US for seven years because Al-Qaeda has chosen not to hit us again... yet. For examples of what they've done since 9/11, check out their activites in London, Madrid, and Mumbai (among others) and those other places you've forgotten about. Tragically, Al-Qaeda is still strong. That's why President Obama is correctly prioritizing Afghanistan.

To withdraw is to admit defeat. A disgrace to all true patriots. Your kind are the ones who say the Iraq campaign has been a success! You're a hypocrite who favors party politics over the best interests of the US. Thank Christ you Republicans are no longer in power and that the true Americans have taken over.

Heck!!! I thought your goddone anti patriotic posts had ended. The most laughable statement of all! First, "anti-patriots" don't serve in the US military; my ongoing service dashes all accusations of being an "anti-patriot". Next, what on earth made you think my posts had "ended"? Just because I don't have the time (because of my duties) to post all day long like Sarge and the rest of his ilk does NOT mean my posts have "ended". It'll take far more than you can muster to silence me.

wuzza - OK, here are some facts for you to consider:

    1. The Taliban are rising again in Afghanistan. If they go unchecked, the so-called "liberation" of Afghanistan, touted by certain right-wingers on this site, will amount to absolutely nothing.

    2. With the closure of Manas AB, US (as well as French and Spanish) actions in Afghanistan will be greatly affected, particularly regarding troop and supply movement lines, and air refueling.

    3. President Obama, rightfully, has stressed moving us out of Iraq and into Afghanistan in greater numbers. Given the facts I've outlined above, this is inarguably the best move.

    4. Most disturbing of all, OBL stated in the early days after 9/11 that his plan was to bankrupt America. Looking at the state of our economy, I'm forced to consider the idea that OBL's awful plan may be succeeding. When Russia can pay off Kyrgyzstan to, in part, close off Manas AB to the US, it bodes ill for both the economic and military might of the US.

Bottom line: Afghanistan is far, far more important to US interests than Iraq. That's why President Obama is prioritizing our efforts in Afghanistan (as he promised) while getting our troops out of Iraq, where we're not needed. Whether Iraq is "liberated" or not has absolutely no bearing on the security of the US; Afghanistan is quite simply the more important consideration.
