Question: If it had been one of Obama's daughters who'd become pregnant as an unmarried high-schooler, would any of you, on the right or left, change the statements you've posted above?

Conservative: My military colleagues and I are also patriots, who want the US to win the War on Terror. Every one with whom I've spoken (many, let me tell you) are voting for Obama.
The independents will vote against McCain because they value progress over "traditional" values that result in the unacceptable situation thrust upon us today by the Republicans, to include Bush and McCain. Now, you can add McCain's shameless sexism to the list of reasons why Barack Hussein Obama will be our new C-in-C come January 2009, thank God.
No jest, sir; we're serious about improving the US.

Sarge, I can't wait for the debates either! Obama will humilitate McCain and Palin might as well not even show up, given the pasting Biden has in store for her. But, I suppose she has to make an attempt...
Thanks again to Senator McCain for handing the election to President of the United States Barack Hussein Obama!

VOR - keep on preachin', babe! McCain just handed the Presidency to Obama by picking what's-'er-name as his VP.
Sarah Palin?! McCain might as well have picked Michael Palin; at least THAT Palin has world experience! xD

VOR - You couldn't be more wrong. Women see this stunt as exactly that - a stunt where McCain is simply using a woman to woo votes from Hillary supporters.
"Hey! Vote for me! MY VP is a WOMAN! Isn't that what you wanted? Never mind the fact that by voting for me and a woman whose name you'd never heard before today (unless you're from Alaska), you'll be abandoning every principle you believe in; it's worth it to have a WOMAN in the VP's office, right?"
I've never seen such blatant disrespect to the women of the world; I've never seen such political desperation and panic as John McCain exhibited today. Shame.

WhiteHawk: As a fellow Southerner, I submit that you know exactly what I mean by sexist Southerner vote. To imply otherwise makes you a liar.
USN: Read goodDonkey's post above; he/she makes the point very clearly. From your handle, I gather you are a fellow comrade-in-arms; do you really want a VP to assume C-in-C responsiblities (in the event of McCain's passing) who has LESS Congressional experience (read: NONE) than Obama, who McCain desperately tries to paint as somehow "not ready to lead"?
I know I don't. I want a good C-in-C for a change, one with a clear strategy on how to win the war. That's why we're voting for Barack Obama. Better luck in 2016, Republicans!

Sarah Palin?! Bwahahahahahahaha! Talk about an inexperienced first-termer! This is who'd be C-in-C when McCain croaks? Thanks, John - you've just alienated the sexist Southern vote!

Ah, ColAmerica plays the non-existent race card again (in desperation, no doubt). Well, let me ask you this: Which party freely chose two candidates to compete for the nomination, neither of whom is a white male? The Democrats. Which party has thus weaned themselves from the "white guy comfort zone" and motivated it's members to look at the candidates' stances on the issues? The Democrats. Which party has led its constituents to educate themselves on the issues and choose the best candidate between a black man and a white woman? The Democrats.
Which party took the easy way out and nominated a white male so its constituents wouldn't have to consider the issues? The Republicans. Painfully obvious that the Democrats are the more progressive-thinking party where the true racists/sexist still (as always) reside with the Republicans. Checkmate.
BTW: "BBC World"? For a guy who calls himself ColAmerica, why do you even consider the views of non-Americans when it's conservatives such as yourselves who gloat over the fact that only Americans vote in our elections?

Sorry ColAmerica; we true US patriots are voting for Obama. We don't need to be asked to trust him; he's already earned America's trust.
Just take a deep breath, relax, and wait for the Obama victory in November.

yabits - great post (8:15). I'd call it just another nail in the coffin for NeoCons casting doubt on the Democratic leanings of the military, particularly the overwhelming number of military members voting for Obama.

Sarge wrote: "Dude - You expect us to believe the vast majority of the members of your Air Force unit support Obama? Give us a break!" Yep, it's true. But, by all means, deny away; it changes nothing and gives us something to chuckle at.

Ronin - well, most of troops I know are Democrats, and we follow the orders of GWB, whether we agree with them or not. That's our duty. Thing is, it's gonna be so much easier with Obama, a C-in-C we WANT to follow, not one we feel simply obliged to follow.
Big diff, ne?

Sarge, That's it?! A cheap one-liner? C'mon dude, you can do better than that! Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war, baby! Especially since an American you obviously hate is gonna be your new President this January, freely elected by the American People. Don't let us down now! xD

Military lesson - the man responsible for 9/11 is in Afghanistan/Pakistan. Take out Al-Qaeda's leaders and the followers are easier to pick off. War on terror is thus won by the US.
PS: We do have missiles capable of hitting Syria from Afghanistan.
