Since we have 2,000+ security lanes in the US alone (not to mention all the overseas embarkation points), the Isreali model is not a useful comparison. That said, I doubt the "crotchbomber" would have answered any direct questions about his previous and current travel plans without giving enough concern for a more thorough questioning and search which would have blown his mission.

Movies are made to put butts in seats and sell popcorn, nothing else. Debate historical, cultural and other issues all you want but unless it is a documentary, a movie is made to sell tickets and that's all. If you don't look at your watch or fall asleep during the flick, it was worth the price of admission.

Having lived in Lagos, Nigeria for a year and a half, I can tell you that airport security is an oxymoron. It is one of the most corrupt places on the planet, as well.

This guy is a complete nincompoop. Look at him - real tough guy. He has no real credentials and I had to chuckle upon reading this article, the Germans sum it up succinctly: Schadenfreude.

The most important point is that rotary aircraft must be close to the troops they will transport and train with. Given this basic point, the helicopter units from Futenma must be in Okinawa and can not be relocated to Iwakuni, Osaka or Guam. All these wonderful suggestions from mayors and governors are pretty retarded considering the geography involved.

Switched to Krisflyer (Singapore) and get points on my credit card - quite satisfied, 100 yen equals one mile, pay everything on it. Part of Star Alliance, too.

Most do really suck and it certainly helps if you sing in fluent English for starters. The few good ones just haven't been lucky, had the right agents or whatever combination of timing, fundage and connections it takes to make it all click. Plenty of non-white, non-American bands and singers make it moderately big in the US all the time. Whahh, racism...whahh, FAIL.

Pay up or take the bus or train. I completely agree, they should charge according to weight and volume. The "why" of a person's size is irrelevant to an airline but is a seperate debate completely for health officials and the medical community. Airlines need to safely (and profitably) transport people and part of doing it in airplane is factoring in the load (passengers and cargo), weather conditions, route, etc, those are immutable facts.

The hero is the captain of the ship. The SEALs aren't heroes, just did thier job properly, as well-trained troops do, day in and day out. I'm sure they'd be the first to disclaim hero status.
