As always, Caveat Emptor. Roppongi is not some distortion in the time/space continuum. Was there last night actually for a quick drink and been going for 14 yrs without a problem - just excercise common sense. Six Trees is not my favorite place at all (prefer Ebisu) but sometimes just an easy choice. Plenty of interesting joints and quite a few craptacular places. The touts can spot a stooge a mile away.

Since she has zero connection with the actual TV show, don't let it put you off. It is actually quite well done, if you don't mind a bit of blood.

Nothing peculiar about this, just saves time and money, activities most businesses engage in. Perhaps some are confused, it doesn't recognize you by your voice (it recognizes your phone number - not amazing), it directs your call by recognizing the meaning of the words. Similar technology has been around for years, i.e. Speechworks/Nuance. Ever speak to a carnavi?

The profit margin you're describing is pretty standard and even below average worker dispatch companies. Though by your own math a million dollars in sales is low. Gross revenue is not an indication of profit. Don't forget they have to pay health insurance, pension, etc, not to mention the costs of sourcing and dispatching people. Plus gaijin need visas and at least 10% will cut out before they finish their contracts. May not be the cash cow you think it is.

Hmm, would they do the same if the comments were in spray paint, on a wall near the guy's house?

Did I "slam" you? My point (which you missed) is that if you would even consider having a party for your crumb snatcher at a 5-star hotel chain like the "Ritz", you have serious liquidity and a different idea of "value-for-money" than most folks here on JT. I have kids and I've stayed at a few of the Ritz properties over the years but it would never cross my mind to arrange a birthday party for them at a hotel, let alone the Ritz.

Saw her on a local show recently spouting her weirdness, her Japanese is native/fluent as ever. Someone with that much cash would never have to spend a lot of time isolated from her mother-tongue. And of course, there are many thousands of Japanese expats in the Big Apple. My favorite thing is she acts like Japan is the original peaceful utopian nation and seems to be clueless about the actual size of the military apparatus here and blind to the fact that Japanese industry makes their own tanks, rifles, ships, missiles and other munitions.

Seems a total waste of taxpayer money to investigate and prosecute these people. Even more so when we know they'll bow and receive suspended sentences. FAIL.

Why would this woman meet met and then ask if they are married...duh. Many, many times more foreign women are in fact marrying Japanese men everyday...but they are not Caucasians from N. America, Oz or Europe, they are Chinese and Korean women and thus not as readily apparent to most of the gaijin here.
