US airline service generally bites but it isn't the worst in the world. For example, Midwest Express is quite good, perhaps able to maintain quality as they are relatively small. I've flown around Africa and most local airlines there are extremely craptacular.

One of my wife's former HS classmates got married at Dizzyland. I was able to get out of it and once I saw the pix I'm so glad I didn't attend. So incredibly artificial, complete with a visit by the rats themselves. I completely understand it as a fantasy theme park for children but as a setting for two adults for their wedding, I am befuddled.

Sarcasm123 - yes, millions of citizens globally serving in the military of their respective countries are all mentally deficient. You win the internets!

A place of business can not be held accountable for the willful negligence of the parent, that is far-fetched. Should they be resonsible if you left the child unattended at home, as well? Or down the street at a playground? Are they going to check your tire pressure and brakes for wear? How far do you take that line of logic? Personal responsiblity, especially regarding the safety and welfare of one's offspring, can not be pawned off on a gambling establishment (or any other business, for that matter).

Yes, the US military only sends troops exactly where they desire and it also lets them choose what they'll do all day, as well. Club Med copied their business model.

As a hiring manager for a gaishi consultancy doing audit, I can say that I don't care if he speaks Klingon if there is no actual experience relevant to our clients' needs. The Japanese CPA is difficult, hence, there are only 18,000 in the whole country. With persistance and luck, he'll find a position somewhere but I do think he'll have to be very flexible.

Really dig the Suica/Pasmo, use it everyday on the bus and trains. Now if they can install it in taxis, that would be the shiznat.

I tend to agree with Honne, the problem is tourists in "groups" generally tend to be easily annoying to others who aren't in thier group. The nastiest behavior I've seen abroad was Aussies at Oktoberfest in Munich taking off stinky wool hiking socks and dipping it in beer (with vomit already mixed in it) and then sucking the liquid from the wet sock. Good on ya...way to ruin other peoples hedonistic worshipping of the golden nectar.

My recently turned 3 yr old son couldn't stop doing the "O pa pi" thing complete with body movements everywhere: supermarket, crowded train...a bit funny actually, for a couple of times. Finally, we've got him to stop and just clown around in his own original silly way.

On a daily basis the truly annoying thing here in Tokyo is the people who somehow think they'll get off before me when I'm standing in front of them, right in front of or orientated towards the doors. It is obvious I'm getting off too but sometimes even before the train stops and the doors open they're pushing me. Why do they want to touch me or anyone? Irksome... Nothing a swift elbow doesn't cure, of course.

Seems rather logical - not a penalty at all but a reward to encourage you to bring others over to Softbank. This is why all three networks announce themselves in one way or another to the caller. Many companies have ways of encouraging current customers to intro others via discounts or other means.

Yes, how have we lived without this until now....it will completely revolutionize our mobile communication experience. The fun times on the train alone will be splendiferous.

Seems like the same people, doing the same stuff ad nauseum. "Oishii!" "Sugoi" Only watch local TV for weather and Karakuri TV. Been subscribing to Skyperfect for the past few years. For less than the cost of two movie tickets you gain access to a decent selection of overseas programming, so for viewing Fox, Discovery, NG, History, movies, etc (and occasional rented DVDs) my big Aquos is worth it.

In almost all cases for Discovery, etc you can switch between the original language and Japanese, using that funny rectangular thing with the buttons. Or just check the schedule as the shows are repeated during the week.
