Media over-stating crime? What else is new. Despite the inevitable nitpicking from some about unreported crime, I've always felt safe in Japan. We have the same problem with media hype here in Toronto, another relatively safe place, but still less so than Japan. Anecdotal example, the Tokyo Metro ads asking people to have better manners by not blocking seats, etc, compared to the ones on the Toronto subway warning of iPod theft and that spitting on transit drivers is considered Assault and will be prosecuted

Japan attacked Russia, they should understand the consequences.

Japan attacked Russia? Hardly. Perhaps you should understand history before lecturing others on lecturing the consequences.

I second MeanRingo on worst - United flight attendants (domestic and international) have a tendency to act as if they've been spit out of the darkest corner of hell, and just maybe they have.

Best would be Cathay Pacific or JAL, both for service and looks.

Well it's a kitchen knife, so obviously she accidentally spilled some of her own DNA on it while cooking or something. Yeah, that's it.

Um, don't we already have a few of those?

Lunar mapping at high resolution, or in different wavelengths to determine the surface composition, or the insides of some crates, are things that "we" do not have. That would be the reason why Japan, China, India, and the US still send probes to orbit and map the moon.

"We" have lots of satellites orbiting the Earth and mapping it, so obviously there is still a lot to be learned here at home and out there.

The reason it was intentionally crashed was to try and take a look at the dust and lunar surface material that would be kicked up which would give some data on its composition, maybe even if there is water or some useful minerals.

    Sour grapes from Japan notwithstanding.

If sour grapes are a concern, please refer to the first post on this topic.

Anyway, as I said it's a good achievement scientifically and it's about science, not a strawman for others to use to push their delusions of Chinese superiority.

Pretty successful mission and the planned crash-landing at the end will result in more science, China's insuperiority complex notwithstanding.

These followers have become bitter, angry, angry, angry, combatative, angry people who never let reality or facts get in the way of a high-velocity rant.

I have to disagree with you on this point. Such devotees did not become "bitter, angry, angry, angry, combatative, angry people who never let reality or facts get in the way of a high-velocity rant.", they were like that to begin with.

Seems like half of you didn't even read the article, but that shouldn't come as a surprise. It says joint development and production of weapons systems with countries like the US and those in Europe, a far cry from selling to any third-world crackpot with the cash. But facts never stop anyone from descending into arguments based on paranoia, slippery-slopes, or justifying their own bigotries.

Again, if you're American, Canadian, French, German, Italian, British, or from any other number of countries, this is the same thing that has been taking place for decades amongst those countries. Interestingly it's timed just as another news story about selling the F-35 to Japan, a jointly-developed fighter which includes those horrible international warmongers like the Canadians, Australians, Norwegians, and the Dutch. So, this is a good thing.

Maybe the fact that she seems to be enjoying herself is the reason for all the venom? Some here seem to spend so much time wallowing in their own misery that their brains can't grasp the concept of someone actually enjoying their time in Japan.

    Badge123;

Agree - at least with Narita there are options like actually having rail lines to get there. For most North American airports (and all Canadian ones), the road is the only way to get there and during rush hour it takes me about 45 minutes to get to the airport (<30 km) by taxi, which is the quickest option.

Even if Narita got a direct maglev hyperspatial 5 minute connection to Tokyo, I bet the complaints would then move on to how expensive it is.
