Right, but why presume that they speak English? That's the gist of what I was saying, most "foreigners" in Japan speak Cantonese, Portuguese, or Tagalog if they can't speak Japanese. Too many here on JT equate "gaijin" with "native English-speaker foreigner", who are actually a minority.

Just like in any other country, when crime rates do go down, the media reports the opposite cuz it sells papers and Adsense. Japan is a pretty peaceful place, or at least it is compared to most others.
