I know a guy who was confronted by two individuals who intended to rob him. When he pulled his weapon they ran away. Since they no longer posed any danger to him he left it at that. His gun prevented himself from being robbed or killed.

I'm not advocating everybody carry a weapon. Its a personal choice. If you don't feel the need to own a weapon, don't. Just don't attempt to deny millions of law abiding citizens the right to do so unless you can guarantee their safety.

federal gun laws are the same nationwide, some states impose stricter requirements. tell me more how new yorker with criminal records are able to legally purchase guns outside new york?

The reality is that American society contains predators and the government cannot guarantee any of its citizens safety whether guns are permitted in society or not.
The government is incapable of enforcing laws already on the books, what makes you think anyone is going to be any safer if they deny citizens the ability to protect themselves?

these slaughters happen at locations where the perpetrator knows there are no guns on the premises; schools, college campuses, nursing homes, workplaces etc. I've yet to see it happen in locations where armed security is present or the targets might be able to shoot back.

Sushi; Bush slashed taxes for every American and not just the super rich. Everyone paid less taxes in America under George Bush. Again, the legislative branch allocates the funds. The executive branch identifies the cost.

Sushi; i hate repeating myself but again congress approves spending, the president can only sign it into law or veto it. That 6 trillion in debt also pays for a lot of social programs which are sacred cows of the democratic party. can't put that all on Bush and the republicans.

its always amazing seeing JT's cadre of instant experts blame the republicans for the current state of affairs while ignoring the role of the democrats over the past four years. Pelosi has been in charge of the House for 4+ years, Reid been leading the Senate for over 2 years. The economy turned sour only after the Democrats were firmly in control of Congress. Putting all the blame on the Republicans is more than a little dopey.
Now that the Democrats have total control of the government, its put up or shut up time. Spending trillions and then hearing the President of the United States say "don't expect much" pretty much sums up how much confidence the American people should have in their current government.

He's been talking down the economy for two years, continued talking down the economy through the passages of the porkulus package and the earmark laden omnibus. now that the Democrats have paid off their political supporters we are to believe this boldface liar that all is well in obamaland. the only ones believing that are the ones that believe anything as long as it involves a free handout.
nice try obama. your little propagandizing works well on the uneducated and closet commies but falls short, way short on those of us paying attention. How about instead of lying to the American people you try rolling up the sleeves and fixing what is really hurting the economic health of the United States, the demise of the US banking system.
