smitty i understand where you are coming from. if there are no guns then no one will be tragically killed by them. i get it. the part i don't get is what makes people such as yourself think this pipedream can be achieved. If America, Russia, China, Israel, Hungary, Czech Republic, Israel and any other country that manufacturers firearms does not sign up and if the militaries of the world, private gun owners and terrorist do not completely disarm then we live in a world that is no safer. I'm all for seeing an end to these senseless killings but your fear of guns is seriously misplaced. Guns are here to stay. They are part of the human condition. The government forcefully removing weapons from private citizens or preventing them from obtaining weapons is only going to get more people killed. Don't believe me, look at a number of countries or American cities with draconian gun laws and watch how the crime rate climbed. If the government can guarantee my safety, then I'd be willing to listen, but both you and i know they can't. A police state like Germany is proof of that.

The fleecing of America continues and under Democratic control, gotten a whole lot worse. We are witnessing the greatest heist of all time, trillions of dollars stolen by a government out of control. We elected a president and got a King and the king is sucking the life out of the country one billion dollars at time. Less than two years to mid term elections. Time for Americans to neutralize the King who is robbing America of its future.

show me where i said everybody should be armed to the teeth or even suggest everyone should carry.
Its a fact the police are incapable or preventing crime and protecting each individual citizen.
Its a fact the crime occurs when criminals think they have the advantage.
The only way not to become a target...........
ah forget it, go on and think what you want. have a good evening people.

smith, don't you recognize the same can be said about your side of the argument. Perhaps its you who is illogical as you ignore the fact that Americans right to bear arms is constitutionally protected.

In this day and age there is plenty of justification for law abiding citizens to carry a sidearm. The police are incapable of preventing crime and a legal firearm in trained hands of a law abiding citizen serves as an equalizer against criminals who will have a gun and commit crimes no matter what laws are enacted.

yup, you guessed it. and to further warm your cockles i have a conceal carry permit in Nevada which if push ever came to shove, allows me the ability to defend myself and others around me from people who have no regard for the law and no respect for human life.

Well Mr. Obama, what do you have to say for yourself?
Either you are committed to seeing this through to a successful conclusion or raise the white flag and get all the troops out of there now. You bear responsibility for every drop of American blood spilled from the time you emboldened the terrorist by setting a hard and fast date to remove combat troops.

nope. McCain losing was actually a good thing. McCain would have been worse than Obama in my opinion.

12/31/2011 will be nearly 3 years from the time Obama took office. You think people that voted for the anti war candidate following the Bush time line do not consider Obama's campaign promises a lie? You and those like you willing to turn a blind eye or make excuses for Obama may not, but there is a growing contingency on the left that sees this as an act of betrayal.
I remember McCain being honest with the American people and he used the 100 years as a possibility. The left grabbed hold of it and misrepresented McCains statement to the American public. One of a long list of dirty tricks used by the Democrats in the past election. Thats okay, less than two years to the mid term election.

One more time for those that do not pay attention:
Obama campaigned to remove all troops from Iraq and not staying in Iraq in any form. Both Hillary Clinton and John McCain slammed him on that and he became much more guarded with the wording he used leaving whatever his plan would be open to interpretation. For those that he led to believe he was pulling completely out of Iraq, he lied.
Leaving 50,000 troops in Iraq beyond 2010 is certainly not a complete pull-out he led many to believe. The number of troops staying in country has the markings of establishing permanent bases. 50,000 troops are about the number that would be needed to support 2-3 army/air force bases and a naval facility.
Again for the edification of those that weren't able grasp my initial argument or too far gone following their preferred political dogma to understand that I don't disagree with the president on this issue, he is actually doing the right thing as President of the United States, I am merely bringing up the fact that he lied to the very people that voted for him. Those paying attention knew he was lying when he said it and further confirmed when he started being more careful with the words he used during the latter part of his campaign.
Those expecting change from Obama aren't getting it. Obama is simply instituting George Bush's Plan B. Unfortunately for the Code Pink crew, Obama isn't fulfilling his anti war promises and it will be very interesting to watch what develops between him and the most strident activist on the left. Hopefully he doesn't tie the hands of his military. Not only will that get more of our people killed but at some point the United States would end up losing face having to retreat ala Clinton and his Somalia retreat.
