I knew Obama was lying when he gave the left wing of the Democratic party the impression that he would pull the troops out of Iraq. I knew perfectly well when he said it that would be a disaster and when he said it, he knew it too. Thats not what I am disputing. I am calling Obama out for lying to the very people who propelled him to the presidency. His core voters. The ones that chose him over Hillary simply because of his stance against the war and his false promise to end US involvement as soon as he became president. Its a real hoot now watching you guys making excuses for O.B.A.M.A when he is following the exact same script of the Bush administration.

hehe look at the left making fools of themselves. They are actually now supporting a war they claim is illegal.l Only a few months ago they were counting on Obama to keep his word of pulling the troops out of Iraq but now that he is leaving a significant force behind, it is now somehow "very, very smart". Little do they know, this is pretty much the strategy and timeline already established by the Bush administration. Not quite the change many folks that voted for Obama believed in.

Not according to the Bill of Rights or any of the existing amendments.
Why stop there? Give everybody the right to a free home, free food, free transportation, free gas, life time employment etc....oh yeah and a George Foreman grill.
Who cares who pays for it, just as long as people who are contributing to society are paying for the comfort and well being of those who don't.

hah! Obama only withdrawing two thirds of the troops is further proof that Obama can neither tell the truth nor is a man of his word. His campaign promise was reckless to begin with and was only used to outmaneuver Hillary. It catered to the dailykossacks and all those blinded with George Bush hatred. In the end it follows George Bushes timeline. Talk is cheap and Obamas words are the cheapest. Pulling out of Iraq is what carried him through the primaries, pulling out of Iraq is what got him elected president. This is the position he took, this was his campaign promise, this is why the dailykos supported him, this is the change people thought they could believe in. Obama is a bold face liar.

Obama started off strong and I actually liked a lot of what he had to say then he outright lied to the American people ruining any chance that this guy can be trusted and that he is interested in bipartisanship.
His claim that there were no earmarks in the stimulus package or upcoming omnibus bill is a boldface lie and has the appearance that Pelosi is the one really calling the shots in Washington.
His claim that the Democrats inherited this deficit is another boldface lie. While it may be true Bush presided over the out of control government spending the past eight years, Bush never had the power of a line item veto to cut out wasteful spending in any budget submitted to him by congress. Obama obsolving the Democrats, including himself, in participating in this out of control and wasteful spending is such a ridiculous notion, it lowers that stature of the President and makes him appear disingenuous and untrustworthy.
As a US taxpayer and consumer, I am very disappointed in the Presidents ability to lead and remain very suspicious of the Democrats ability to do the right thing and will continue to look for ways to reduce my tax liability and reduce my contribution to the economy.

sailwind, next time when the media and democrats start talking down the economy, particulary when the media has chosen their candidate, take that as a signal to pull out of stocks and bonds and buy gold. i've made a killing over the last two years with a nice runup still to go. like you i've been investing since 1985 and have enough assets to weather the storm. i consider myself one of the lucky ones for making my move out of the market when I saw what was happening on the political front. i don't need government handouts but I'll take advantage of whatever situation the dirty stinking lying politicians get us into.

The only thing Obama and his den of thieves have done so far is rob a trillion dollars from the next generation. It wouldn't be so bad if it was being spent on things that would actually stimulate the economy but most of it will be spent paying off democratic operatives and increasing entitlements to people who are dependent on the Democrats for their livelihood. It will not fix the economy and will actually make things worse. Much worse.
The people who vilify the very people who are attempting to hold their government accountable are blinded by hate and intolerance. Most of the hatemongers are not US citizens and have no "skin in the game" and their opinions are meaningless.
The US has faced some of its greatest challenges over the last 8 years and these challenges are likely to continue for the forseeable future. Blaming George Bush is an oversimplification of the complex world we live in. If George Bush had the power of a line item veto, yeah sure one can place total blame on him, but its congress that gets a budget to the President, and for those interested in the truth, both the democrats and the republicans share in the overspending up to the current stimulus bill which is owned by the democrats and three very stupid republicans.
The only ones buying the argument that one man; George Bush destroyed the nation are people who aren't interested in the truth.

"If we confront this crisis without also confronting the deficits that helped cause it we risk sinking into another crisis down the road," the president warned. "We cannot simply spend as we please and defer the consequences to the next budget, the next administration or the next generation."
ding ding ding ding ding. Right answer. Now lets see what he does to control Pelosi and Ried from wasting even more money.

Obama will be held accountable for what happens under his administration. Republicans will take into account the failings of the previous administrations and both the democratic and republican led congresses something Obama supporters are incapable of doing.

perhaps, but as details of the plan emerge, opposition amongst US taxpayers grows. The honeymoon is over and it doesn't matter what non US taxpayers think. The Democrats better hope their so called stimulus is not just more of the same Democratic pork. Mid term elections are less than two years away.

I love all the support Obama gets from non US taxpayers. Of course they support Obama, none of them pay US taxes so they could care less about how much any of this is going to cost. Forutunately it only takes one US taxpayer to drown out the voices from the peanut gallery.

Is it any coincidence that the states in the deepest financial trouble are the ones that are solidly controlled by the Democratic Party or have a Liberal Republican at the helm?
Speaking as a US taxpayer whose hard earned dollars supports countless Americans (and illegal aliens), its good to see at least some politicians siding with us taxpayers.

hey GJ, if you were paying attention, when Reagan ran up his deficits to get the basketcase economy he inherited from Carter and the Democrats going, he did it primarily by cutting taxes, rebuilding the military and cutting entitlements. The deficits he ran up never exceeded 10% of the GDP funded primarily by the US ally, Japan.
Do you have any idea how much Obama's deficits are or will be in relation to the GDP? If my sources are correct Obama's deficits will be between 40-60% of the GDP. If true, the US will be beholden to the Chinese for a very long time. You are comfortable with the Chinese determining our future?

If Obama and his cast of thieves were really interested in "creating or saving millions of jobs" this is one program that should have been in the "stimulus bill".

the part that is not reported is the "in exchange for what" details. If the Chinese were to quit lending our overspending government money, the government would have to start acting fiscally responsible. Obama and his cast of thieves are already on target to out do the previous administration within the first three years and then at about year four act as if they are balancing the budget. People paying attention will not be so easily fooled.
