The stipulation of the Constitution of Japan that "the emperor shall be the symbol of the state and of the unity of the people," is evinced through a gracious royal couple who have served the country stoically and have gained the respect of many. However, the social restrictions, strict adherence…

As I read in various parts of the media there was no order "to intercept and destroy the North Korean rocket that flew over Japan", only the parts of the rocket that might have fallen towards Japanese territory. If the order was to destroy the rocket, then that mission clearly…

Closed mind, closed heart. Ignorance and cruelty go hand in hand. Every day we read about the exploitation of workers who do overtime for no compensation or about kids who are bullied at school and by their parents. Narrow horizons contain narrow ideas. Japan could be a paradise - a…

The answer is to remove the requirement to wear school uniform. At my son's co-ed high school in Tokyo there was no uniform rule and the school functioned well enough for most of the students to do very well there.

As it stands, schoolgirls who are forced to wear uniform…
