Azrael, exactly. Gaijin is nearly always meant in a derogatory way. The only non-japanese that don't mind this are the starry eyed newbies, as you can see on this thread.

I don't look at suicide from the viewpoint of whether it's honorable or not. But certainly if you're facing years in prison for some crime, suicide may be considered preferable. And I think I would rather commit suicide than be old, living in poverty and misery, there's no point in going on. The suicide just leaves the planet a little earlier than he/she would have anyway. We're all going to die, just a matter of the date. So why continue if you're not enjoying it and it has no meaning to you??

Why do western women in japan tend to be rather large??

Depends on the foreigner. For the very low skilled/very low wage group such as factory workers, english teachers and cleaners, language ability should determine the visa length. For professionals holding well paid positions, maybe not necessary. However japanese is a very easy language to learn, so there should be no problem for anyone to become proficient very quickly.

romulus3 best post mate! I agree totally. These crazy type dudes home in on weakness. Something happens to gaijin when thay come to japan. They seem to turn all effeminate, weak, placid and pathetic. I guess they feel they will be accepted by their japanese masters that way. But in fact, the effeminate male is despised.

The only type of foreigners who would want to come to japan, in the main, will be the relatively unskilled, low paid workers. The japanese bosses are rubbing their hands with glee thinking about how low wages they can pay. We can see with the "trainees" situation how it works. These foreigners will just be fodder to be used and spat out.
We can see how the japanese view foreigners with the "you're a criminal" fingerprinting at the airports. There's now way useful skilled foreigners would come to japan. Why should they?? To get some crappy 1 year contract and then be thrown out on a whim. 90% of foreigners have 1 year contracts! Little crumbs thrown at the useless foreign army.

Don't be the weak docile cuddly little gaijin that they all want to see. If somebody hits you, defend yourself for christ's sake.
