Couple of points:
AIG was one phone call away from filing bankruptcy, and the US Federal Reserve was their last life line. Typically in any business environment contracts would be voided, and creditors would be put to the back of the line and paid pennies on the dollar - if anything - let alone bonuses.
Their best and stellar employees bankrupted the company, and it's only operating in a government receivership to the tune of $160 Billion - and is still losing money each moment it is on life support. I hope you were joking.

Don't give them the money in the first place. They weren't too eager to share their profits with taxpayers when times were good, so why should taxpayers bail them out when times are bad?
