I'm french and I can tell you that the TGV is maybe a little faster but its a lot less comfortable than the shinkansen ! There s no chance I can stretch my leg in a TGV, I can easily do it in a Shikansen. Just for that I prefer the Shinkansen to the TGV. ^^

totally agree, most of the time I had to keep my garbage on me a whole day before fiding where to trash them during my last visit here -_-
I'm living in Paris and since the ban of tabacco in public places, bars, cafe etc. you can find cigarette butts (tons of it) in front of all those places. I just hate smokers for this... >_< There are trash bins everywhere in this city!

Roissy is not Paris at all but whatever.
Paris is, like many others, quite a dirty town, some places are very old and damaged but still... Paris is a very nice city.
Posted in: When I first arrived at Roissy airport, it was a shock to me, because Japanese people always dream of Paris as being a beautiful city.

"do-what-your-boyfriend-want-you-to-do" society, just forget a word :p

Well I understand how these "o hitori sama" feel, its a real social problem for J women in this do-what-your-boyfriend-want-you-to. But still I think some of these women are just selfish or hypocritical.
But sometime there s no other choice but to go around alone and just have your fun doing what you wanna do. Thats just a pity that your friends/partner can't make some agreement to share good times.
Well I bet it depends of people, I don't have much fun or even not at all, being alone.

That's a fact that japanese can't spell more than a few words in english. During my last trip I had the chance to "really" talk with only ten or so japanese and I remember those who were most talking did it in... french. Which really surprised me. I think many countries, even big ones, doesn't speak english much. I'll take France, Italy and Spain as an example... Anyway I don't think Japan is isolating itself from outside, the example of the language classes is not good from my point of view. Students just know how bad are their teachers and prefer to learn the languages via penpals/private schools.
