That's probably the same wrongheaded rationale that the Obama's Administration used to go after it's political opponents. Rationalizing the criminal use of the IRS to attack political opponents. The irony of using the federal government's power to intimidate and blunt the political activities of people that believe too much power in the hands of government is dangerous is surely not lost on anyone.
My guess is that Liberals support the use of government to do what "they" believe is in best interests of everyone else. Obama has feigned outrage but he is likely only outraged by the fact that the tactic has been uncovered.

@No Miso:
Not really - just another day of pointing out the fallacies put forth by gay "marriage" proponents.
What we have all learned from recent events is that the definition of marriage is not set in stone anymore. It used to be. It used to be restricted to one man and one woman - by definition. So with that most fundamental definition of marriage no longer operational - I see no reason why any and all other are not also open to re-interpretation. That's simple logic.
Not if one of the people involved in such a marriage is incapable of having children. Say the woman is past her child-bearing years. There are no genetic consequences of such a match - just as there are not any between homosexuals. Would you deny her human right to be happily married to anyone she wants? Apparently so.
Wrong again. Actually, there is a precedent for adults marrying minors. Besides, marriage is open to interpretation now - you cannot deny two people their human right to love and be loved regardless of there age. For the law to discriminate against a 15 year old girl that is capable of having a child would be just as wrong as preventing two gay men from marrying. Again, the definition of marriage is no longer set in stone.
Personally, I don't care what two people do with each other. What I do care about is the government endorsing something that I find every bit as abhorant as pedophilia or bestiality. And no, I am not religious. The government should not be in the marriage business at all. The government has no business being involved in the personal lives of it's citizens. When it comes to benefits, people can still enter into civil contracts without having to adhere to whatever the latest definition of marriage is. If you want to get married, find a church and get married - the government should just stay out of it - period.

So you are saying that politicians in Europe that call themselves Socialist are not what they say they are? Enough with this trifling and overly narrow definition of Obama's ideology. The world is different now than in Karl Marx's day when labor was viewed solely in the context of the industrial revolution. Industrial production is no longer the primary means of generating wealth in first world nations.
Now go back to Webster and look at the definitions provided for socialism: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/socialism The first definition focuses on the ownership of the means of production OR collective ownership. Liberals want everyone to believe government ownership is the only definition (I would remind you that Obama still has the US owning a large chunk of GM - but that is beside the point). The aim of modern socialism is to gain de facto ownership over companies via heavy regulation and by providing it's allies in the Labor Unions the means to wrest control of ownerships decision making power. That is modern Socialism. That is Obama. That is Obama's "transformed" and corrupted form of America. He is not at all constrained by using Nixonian or more specificly Saul Alynsky tactics to achieve it.

@LFRAgain:
Say what? This is the first time since 2007 that the American media has really asked any hard questions of the Obama Administration. And really, he hasn't been forced to answer any questions yet. He keeps saying that he can't comment because there is an investigation. He has gotten pass on everything until now - surely you see that. But of course, he is safely re-elected now so the press is going to at least pretend like it hasn't been an extension of the DNC. Is that really all that hard to keep track of?
Not a rant, just reality. It's hard to see what's going on from your bunker.
@gcbel
There is nothing disingenuous about four dead people. There is nothing disingenuous about a division of the Department of the Treasury - the IRS - using it's substantial and coercive powers to block and intimidate Obama's political opponents. No, the Obama Administrations corruption is very genuine.
@SuperLib:
If you are referring to the tea party, they do not have anything to do with "birthers" nor do they think Obama is a Muslim. The pro-big government press has peddled this nonsense that is well - disingenuous to say the least. Remember when they made a big deal out of the group being racist? No evidence of that either but that doesn't stop the slander. The tea party has only ever been interested in the unprecedented debt that Obama has accumulated and the fact that limited government is better than having a biased government agency like the IRS engaging in politics and ruining peoples lives. On, and the only "bubble" I see is the huge bubble of debt that Obama has run up. The economy still sucks, unemployment is still high, young people can't get jobs, poverty is near historic levels, one in six people in the US lives off of food stamps, etc....
Obama's claim that a huge activist government is good and that people have no reason to fear the vast concentration of power entrusted to government bureaucracies is demonstrably made false by the actions of the IRS over the past two years. Such claims that a powerful government is benign is quite disingenuous.

@Yabits:
Seriously? I don't recall Cheney ever being president. I got news for you, Bush/Cheney are no longer in office! Surprising I know given how much the Left loves to talk about them all of the time. Seems like the Left misses them an awful lot. Anyway, stop trying to deflect from the Obama Administration's corruption. Using the Justice Dept to keep watch on the media and calling out the IRS to go after political opponents is straight out of the Nixon playbook. Shouldn't be much longer before Obama's plumbers are sent to snoop around the RNC.
Obama is well on his way to becoming the worst president in American history. He is a bystander to his own tenure in office. Somehow the "smartest president in history" doesn't seem to know a thing about what is going on in his own administration. The affirmative action president has turned out to be not so smart. He is an ideological automatron guided solely by his Leftist beliefs of socialist utopianism devoid of any grounding in his own nation's history and traditions. He simply lacks imagination or any sense of reality. The deaths of the four men in Libya mean nothing to him except for whatever political advantage he can somehow squeeze out of the event.
Well at least the media has finally begun to do some investigation into Obama. As Obama's pastor says, it may be that BO's "chickens are coming home to roost".

@SuperLib:
What does the DOW have to do with it? Lib's should stop measuring life solely on economic terms all of the time. Maybe if Obama would spend more time worrying about Main Street and less about Wall Street the country might actually have a healthy economy.
Apples and oranges. Besides, Bush is not president anymore - Obama is. At some point, Liberals are going to have to stop blaming Bush for their own incompetence. For goodness sakes, can Republicans continue to harp on Thomas Jefferson for owning slaves?

Except for all of the other potential combinations of marriage partners or groups of partners that are being left out. Still discriminating against the bisexual woman that wants to marry a man and another woman. The polygamist man that wants to marry six women. The adult man who wants to marry is mother. The 35 year old woman that wants to marry at 14 year old boy. Since marriage has been opened up to "all" now, then let's really make "marriage for all" - not just for those favored by the political Left.

Statements like this are beyond belief. Shall we all simply 'suspend disbeleif'? Steven Miller - like so many in government today - are Leftist activists posing as public officials. They are the reason why groups like the Tea Party exist today. It is no accident that the IRS went after public interest groups that promote small government. The very idea of Constitutionally limited government is abhorant to these people. The Left - led by the main stream media - recognized that small government groups were a threat to their ideology from the get-go and have done everything in their power to destroy them. No power is greater than the Federal government for use in this aim.
Miller would like to say the wrong doing is confined to a few low level staffers at a single mid-West IRS office. It was only a matter of days that it was discovered that the issue began before the 2010 mid-term elections and involved individuals or groups of individuals in at least three different IRS offices spread out from one end of the country to the other.
So the IRS was essentially used to stunt the political activities of the Right over two election cycles while in no way impeding the Left's efforts. This crime has Democrat party politics written all over it. The only question is how high up does it go? It should surprise no one if one of Saul Alynsky's most famous proteges was involved from the start.

It is certainly unprecedented that the press is actually paying attention to Obama's nonsense - finally. These emails are more of the same that we get from this administration - spin and an attempt to shift blame. Although he is supposedly human like the rest of us, he sure never does anything wrong. He believes his own hype He believes that he is not accountable for anything he or his administration does.
Now that the election is over and he doesn't have to worry about appearing weak, now he wants us all to believe that the YouTube video never existed. The guy can't even be honest when four men are killed serving for him. Disgraceful....

@Peter Payne:
To be begin with he stop being such an idiot. Then he could stop trying to use the government to micromanage everyone's lives. He could then stop bad mouthing the war in Afghanistan - the one he considered the good war - and actually make an effort to support the military over there. Then he could at least make a small effort to not double the national debt during his presidency.
He could have been honest about what happened in Benghazi and admitted that "mistakes were made" and that no attempt was made to send help to rescue the ambassador and the others under attack. He could fire Eric Holder for being incompetent and by his own admission seems to know nothing that's going own in the Department of Justice. I mean, if he knew something he might actually have to take responsibility for it.

Not only is Obama a terrible foreign policy president ("leading" from behind, lying about the deaths of his own ambassador right before an election) and a terrible economic policy president (worst economic recovery in the modern era, ObamaCare train wreck), his minions use the government to attack their political opponents (IRS targeting Obama's perceived enemies), ease drop on news organizations that oppose them (AP), lie with a straight face about facts that are plain to everyone else. He has been able to get away with this for going on five years now. I guess the press has determined that since Obama has now been safely re-elected they can get off their knees and pretend that they are actual journalists.
Since Obama is a politician it goes without saying that he lies. It's just the magnitude and the seriousness of the lying that is the point here. Obama is so full of himself and he has had a fawning press for so long that he actually believes he is the greatest president ever to bestride the continent. The fact that he would lie about the video to everyone - including the families of the four killed in Benghazi - is a testament to this mans low character. He lied to make his re-election easier regardless of his incessant carping about being "the most transparent administration in history" and despite the despair of the victims families. In fact, he sent out Hillary and Susan Rice to lie to the families and the public.
The thing that ties Obama to the Nixon administration is that Nixon's underlings used the power of the government to illegally go after his political opponents. Nixon wasn't involved from the start but when he found out about it, he lied and tried to cover it up. Now we have Obama doing the exact same thing. The White House knew two years ago that the IRS was going after conservatives but are still denying any knowledge of it today.
Learn from history President Obama, fess up.

My spouse and I did it the right way - if this path to citizenship BS goes through I will be steamed. At the minimum, those that reside in the US illegally should be made to register with the government and return at least for a day at their own expense to their home country. When they return, they can be considered legal but should never be allowed the opportunity for citizenship (unless they return home, apply legally and wait their turn). The only exception would be for the children of illegal immigrants. Legal residency is the most that they should be granted. Besides, most are only here for the jobs anyway - they don't necessarily want to change their nationality. Democrats just want more impoverished voters to vote for their collapsing welfare state.

I wasn't a big fan of Bush's domestic policies, expanding the role of the Federal government in K-12 education and expanding the welfare state, but he did a solid job in foreign policy. 9/11 did change everything and it took a new manner of dealing with the world. Despite huge criticisms of Bush's war on terror policies Obama's are essentially the same. Guantonimo, the Patriotic Act, the wiretap program, and the black sites (see Benghazi compound). The one big difference being that he still runs around like an idiot trying to convince people that Islamic inspired terrorism is nothing more than work place violence. Oh, and he wants us to believe that obliterating people without a trial via drone strikes is more humane than water-boarding. Obama is so constrained by his ideological blinders that he is incapable of seeing religiously inspired hatred for the serious threat that it truly is to peace and political stability in the world. Bush's public approval ratings are on par with Obama's now because at least half the country see's that Obama is seriously naive in the area of foreign affairs. It is really sad seeing Assad, Putin, and the Chinese running circles around the US president.
