This deal is just a drop in the bucket towards solving America's debt crisis. If Rep. Boehner said that it would "solve" the problem then he is out of his mind. The end result of this debt deal will be an increase in the total debt by upwards of an additional $2.4 trillion by the end of Obama's first term. President Obama will have racked up a whopping $6~7 trillion in additional debt - a fifty percent increase in the national debt - in a single term. His profligate spending must be stopped - not just slowed a little bit. The new debt cutting committee must come up with a huge amount of cuts in the near term - not in ten years. Democrats are using borrowed money to win elections on the back of America's children and grand-children. It's immoral and a disgrace.

Well, the numbers don't lie. The economy had already hit bottom and the recession was over by the time President Obama took office. Obama flooded the economy with badly allocated porkulous money and the Fed began printing money like madmen. Obamacare, the war on energy companies, and heavy handed regulatory rulings by unelected federal agency commissions have reversed the recovery and now the US is staring at a likely double-dip recession. Don't be surprised if the 2nd quarter 1.3% GDP growth revised down to zero three months from now.
Despite the likely deal still being negotiated Sunday evening, there will be a rating downgrade - and rightly so. The government will have failed to address the driving cause of the huge debt and annual deficits - that being entitlements (no, not defense spending). Republicans appear to be winning this debate due to the strength of the tea party members. They will have avoided a default, there will be no tax increases, and there will be an equal amount in spending cuts to debt increase. They were the only party to propose and pass legislation prior to the 11th hour. They also will have prevented Obama and Democrats from being able to pin a share the blame politically for Obama's awful economic stewardship of the country. In the end, I suspect that the tea party will still not be happy with the deal but the neo-socialist wing of the Democrat party will be furious.

These young ladies are not doing anything wrong. They have a job and are making an honest, yet modest income for a young person. Maid outfits can be associated with eroticism, but it's not as if they are wearing sexy nighties or anything overtly sexual. For a well adjusted adult, the maids add a fun and festive air to the uchi-mizu event.

This is insane. The Senate didn't even vote on the actual bill from the House- they voted to not vote on it. So Harry Reid has accomplished nothing with regards to the debt crisis and then will not even hold a vote on the House plan. There will be no plan coming out of the Senate - there is no way Reid will be able to get more than a few Republicans to go along with his smoke and mirrors legislation of cuts that aren't cuts. He has already lost one Democrat who said he wouldn't vote for it. Meanwhile, President Obama must be off somewhere playing another round of golf. Do something Democrats instead of just saying No to everything the Republicans do!

I guess heterosexuals don't get rights. Women are not forced to co-habitat with men in the military and heterosexuals should likewise not be forced to co-habitat with homosexuals. If we are going to be "fair" then we should be fair to everyone.

President Obama has no plan. Senate Democrats have no plan. Obama and Senator Reid pretend like they want to be reasonable and make cuts but refuse to write anything in legislation that will cause the socialist wing of their party to rise up in revolt. Senate Dems have not passed a budget in two years - are they are supposedly required by law to do. Obama is a failed leader. He is trying to "lead from behind" as usual - which is just nonsense. America is in the midst of a titanic debt crisis and Obama is clueless. Look at the rate of tax receipts and spending over the last 30 years - the problem isn't too little in taxes but way too much spending. Cut spending or else America will become a banana republic.

American politicians have a spending problem akin to a rock stars addiction to drugs. They live in an alternate universe where they think only of themselves and are oblivious to the damage they are inflicting. Just imagine a chart with two lines - one represents tax receipts and the other government spending. Year after year the spending line continues to rise at a much faster rate than the tax receipts line. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that the government is spending too much money. You can take 100% of the income of the millionaires and billionaires and you still will not change this reality. Stop spending! You would think they are brain dead or something.

My team lost but I loved the match anyway. It seemed as though the US dominated but Japan hung in there and took advantage of their chances - the US could not and didn't deserve to win. This should give the Japanese people a morale boost. I really liked how the Japanese team held up the banner at the end of their matches thanking other countries for their support. Sports are great and it's always fun to cheer for your team but their are bigger things in life than a soccer match.

At least the Republicans in the House have a plan - Obama's budget plan published in February was an non-starter even for his fellow Democrats. As it stands now, Obama and his party do not have have a plan at all. President Obama has not submitted a plan to Congress and the Democrats in the Senate have not offered anything either. Instead they have chosen to just sit back and criticize the Republicans while offering no legislation of their own. They are cowards and Obama has failed to lead the nation at a very critical time in his nations history.
You can't blame House Republicans for going forward with a vote next week. Hopefully, it will force Obama and the Democrats to offer their own plan and then perhaps there will be something to negotiate over. As it is now, Republicans are negotiating against themselves and Obama is carping from the sidelines. If he is not for the status quo deficit spending of a trillion dollars a year forever, then he should stop trying to score points for his re-election bid next year and actually submit a plan for what he is for instead of just repeating over and over again that he is against anything and everything that Republicans are for. Everyone knows that the President wants to raise taxes yet he refuses to submit his plan to Congress for a vote. He is playing it safe and not staking out any detailed plans that could come back to haunt him next November. He is a wimp!

@tideofiron:
Why wouldn't people feel a closer interest in a team from their own country? Supporting your own team doesn't presuppose anything negative towards the other team. Sure, I hope the US wins, but I like the Japanese team also and it will not ruin my day if they were to win. As for having a sudden interest in sports, if it wasn't for the nationality angle, hardly anyone would pay attention to most sports contested in the Summer or Winter Olympics. The world isn't as black and white as your statement suggests.

Wow great - more inflation and devaluation of the dollar. Let's double down on that dumb idea and ride that train right over a cliff. At this rate, the US will find itself falling into the abyss well before Greece can get there.
