This reminds me of the 'P*ss Christ' uproar from about 15 years or so ago. A guy put's a plastic Jesus on a cross into a jar of his own urine, calls it art and displays it in a New York art gallery. He get's awards from the art's world and even gets funding from the National Endowment for the Arts - that is the US government. The pastor is simply doing the same thing - expressing himself. However, what is different now is that the same people that are attacking the burning of the Koran were defending the defamation of the Christian religion. Oh yeah, and there was that picture of the Virgin Mary made from cow dung. So, who wants to defend freedom of expression now?
I am not even religeous but I frequently see Christians and Jews attacked and belittled by Muslims and securlarists. I don't think the guy should burn the Koran because it serves no purpose. But I also believe that it serves no purpose to burn the flag or render a Christian icon in feces. We are all free to either agree or disagree with a persons mode of expression. In the case of Pastor Jones, should he burn the Koran and Muslims respond with violence it will only reenforce his point for burning the book in the first place. It would be more helpful for American and other Western Muslims if they were not so silent about the atroscities committed by Muslims in the name of Islam as they seek to condem Pastor Jones.

Great picture! I am always interested in the Little League World Series. It's nice to see Japan in the final again.

It will be interesting to see how this type of story is told from a Japanese perspective as it appears that the entire focus of the movie will be upon the racism encountered by Japanese and Japanese-Americans in the US. Like many other non-Japanese, whenever I see a Japanese project similar to this the first thing that comes to mind is that there are plenty of racial topics within Japan that have been left almost entirely unexplored. That being said, people from many different nationalities had it rough in America - even Irish and Italians were treated very badly in America well into the 1900's. Given the rightful focus on the plight of black Americans it's not much of a surprise to note that people of other nationalities have had a lot less of a spotlight on them. With that in mind even though this is from a foreign perspective, I an interested in seeing this drama.
Racism is very much a univeral topic as just about anyone who has lived in a foreign country/culture can tell you. I hope that TBS uses this as an opportunity to show how Japanese people have succeeded in a different country/culture (like Ichiro) rather than a whoa-is-me study of victimhood.

I can't understand how a judge can block a state law that mirrors existing federal immigration laws and is meant to help the federal government that has utterly failed in it's responsibilities. At the same time, no judge will block local and city illegal immigrant sanctuary city laws. The people of Arizona and many, many other states and localities are at their wits end by the Federal governments failure to enforce very reasonable immigration laws. No country that I know of has an open border policy - but that is the state of the law today in the US.
Gov. Brewer has been listening and has chanced aspects of the law in the past to address concerns that some have had with it. She should do it again if necessary. However, she should be congratulated for not taking her attention from the central issue - the fiscal harm that rampant illegal immigration is having on her state. Not to mention the fact that the Feds - under the leadership of Democrats and Republicans - have failed in their responsibilities. Someone needs to step up and get the job done. Otherwise the border should be lefted open and the American poeple should just be told that they are now responsible for anyone and everyone that decides to come into the country.

The President and Democrats say there isn't any violence on the border. Move along people, nothing to see here.

An old political hack that has gotten comfortable with the ways of political corruption after 20 terms in Congress. This guy is so guilty of tax evasion it's not funny - especially since he is the chair of the committee that writes tax laws that the rest of us are supposed to adhere to.
I wish there were term limits like there is for the Presidency. A president can serve a max of two 4 year terms. I'd allow Senators two 6 year terms and Congressmen five 2 year terms. The only problem is that Republicans can't bring themselves to actually do what they say and vote in term limits and Democrats believe with religeous zeal in the need to make every citizen a representative of the state. It would take an amendment to the Constitution to limit the terms of legislators and America has become too statist to go for it now.
As likeable as Rangle can be, he is a crook and I hope the guy ends up in prison. However, with a mostly Leftist and enabling press, Democrat majorities in Congress and a Democrat President, I think he somehow wiggles out of a jail term. He probably gets a all to late retirement and a one way ticket to one of his villas in the Caribbean.

I think it is humerous that a racist organization like the NAACP makes a big deal out of proclaming some other organization of being racist. Only when the NAACP expunges the racist fring from within itself can they proclaim themselves holier than thou.

Nothing wrong with having your national flag on your sleeve. It's a shame that anyone would find that showing devotion to ones country when competing internationally is in any way a curiousity. Good luck Arashiro!

Most if not all of them are 18 or older so their isn't anything perverted about them being dressed as adults - because they are. They just look so young because when you are middle aged or older it's almost impossible to tell the difference between a high school and college aged girl. There is just no way that anyone could confuse these girls with the pervy likes of Brittany Spears or Lady Gaga - like night and day in my opinion.

Must be a slow news day to write up a story about a guy who crashes a hot dog eating contest. I guess Kobayashi is a mini-celebrity. Since he is a Japanese guy that got in trouble overseas there is going to be some interest on this site. I don't know, I just think a fluff piece about who is currently the most popular girl in Morning Mususme would be a much more interesting read.

Prime Minister Hatoyama made a big deal about changing the previously agreed upon base relocation agreement during the election campaign. However, it turns out that he promised more than he was willing to deliver. He is a weak leader and will be seen as such come the next election cycle. If the Phillipines were able to ask the American military to completely remove bases from their territory there is no reason why Japan could not make some changes to the agreement. Hatoyama could not find an alternate base location that he could find domestic support for. This exposes not only a weakness on his part with respect to Japanese relations with the US but also shows that he is a weak leader doemstically.

I have never been a big fan of Amuro but she has had a long and successful career in Japan. It is also good to see Japanese artists in an international setting. As for the backup dancers, the dude looks like a zombie and the girl looks a bit like Debbie Harry - it's just a shame that she doesn't get paid enough to buy a new pair of stockings.
