President Obama is worth over $7 million and he makes a cool $400,000 a year. Given that there are 2 million fewer jobs today than when he took office, I would say he is firmly a member of the capitalist bourgeoisie. Certainly he doesn't need all of that money to survive. But instead of practicing what he preaches, he hordes his wealth and pushes the same failed socialist policies that have destroyed communist nations and have Europe on the brink of insolvency.
Social tensions are bound to increase when even the President is playing crony capitalist (Solyndra and other "green" money wasters). The tax system is is corrupting politicians and society as a whole. America could start reforming itself by getting rid of special interest loopholes in the tax code by implementing a fair tax system like the flat tax. That way, politicians cannot sell their vote to the highest bidder and companies would have much less incentive to lobby for special tax breaks. When people knew they were all getting treated the same, then there would be much less reason for the existence of social tensions. People would then truly have an equal chance at being successful.

Brady had an amazing game against Denver last night. His offensive line was great too. He just stood in the pocket all night and made mince meat out of their defense. He looks as good as ever and this could very well be the year that he matches Montana and Bradshaw with 4 Super Bowl wins. By contrast, Tebow was running for his life all night. Their offensive and defensive lines were terrible. Denver has a lot to be proud of this year despite the horrendous finish to their season. Looking forward to seeing how Tebow and the Bronco's do next year.

That's a pretty shabby statement to make about Molenir - who has to this point ha trumped every weak argument you've made in attacking Romney's tenure at Bain. Molenir has also been schooling you on how businesses make money and how job creation is the happy by-product of a successful business. Businesses cannot exist if their reason for existing is to create jobs. That is what Communist countries did and history has proven that to be a flawed model. You might say that it is "shallow" to think otherwise.
I must give additional credit to Molenir for his pointing out the many wasteful and corrupt dealings of the Obama administration that some would like to imagine never happened.

@yabits:
And "Barry" doesn't? It seems that 2 millions Americans have lost their jobs since he became president. President Obama also just announced the layout of tens of thousands of American military men and women.
I'm not a big fan of Romney but like a few others here, given the damage done by Obama, he would be a much, much better alternative than four more years of $5 trillion in new debt and overall economic mismanagement. You are clearly using Romney's words out of context to make him out to be someone he clearly isn't. This is what he actually said - in context this time...
You would think that everyone would like to be able to get the best deal. Is it only conservatives that like to get the best value for their money? If so, what does that say about Liberals (and a of Romney's competitors in the primaries)? It says that they are not as concerned about the value of things and are wasteful. This is really what we see by this attack on Romney's mindset of wanting to maximize the use of available resources. For Liberals, $5 trillion in additional debt is not such a big deal - as long as they are able to attain their ideological goals (ie. no changes in calcified programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and beginning new government programs such as ObamaCare that will waste huge amounts of money - especially after ten years).
Liberals can attack Romney's tenure at Bain all they want. But the fact is, many times more jobs were created than lost. I think it's great that the Bain issue has come up now. First, it gets the issue out front and discussed now and will blunt it's utility for Obama later when the campaign really gets underway. It will also show that Romney's company took control of companies that surely would have failed not they not been given further invested in, and saved or created tens of thousands of more jobs than otherwise would have existed. This compares favorably with the 2 million jobs that Obama failed to save or lost during his tenure as president.

No they don't - believe me. North Carolinian's wish they had the choices and low taxes that people in South Carolina enjoy. That's why so many people from up north and other parts of the US move to SC to retire. It's a beautiful state that until about 40 years ago suffered too long under Democrat misrule.
I thought Liberals didn't believe in all of that God stuff. I don't either really but just saying....

@calm down:
Maybe so. Despite his celebrity, I would hope that he would have been subjected to the same dangers that my father and brother-in-law faced.
Apparently, you never heard of 'The Thrilla in Manilla". He made good money from that fight and his greatest boxing fame.
His mouth made him into punk. Worse still, what came out of his mouth helped to divide the nation much like other leftists tried to divide the nation during the Iraq War. Luckily, the current generation of Ali's failed to force America to leave the war prematurely. When people cannot subsume their own personal and political hatreds during times of war, then a nation will never be able to unite. What Ali and the Left did during their heyday can be seen today in America's current inability to come together during a fiscal crisis that threatens Americas future.
The excuse for Ali is that he lived in a time of discrimination against blacks. The fact that he could not see the greater good that Joe Louis and Jackie Robinson did, makes him human and I don't blame him for that. However, the reason why Louis and Robinson will always be greater than Ali is because of their ability to rise above their personal circumstances. Ali is a divisive figure today - many patriotic people have no respect for him for what he did. For Louis and Robinson, the opposite is true - they are people that unite Americans and respect for them is even greater for that reason.
He was an amazing boxer but a selfish and divisive public figure.

Conceptual art? So basically when someone does something - anything at all - like wrap themselves up in cloth and allow people to use a pair of scissors so they can cut off pieces - that is art? Is that the concept? How about if Yono hired a homeless man and had him pee on pieces of cloth laid out on the sidewalk - is that art too? You could say there is a concept to that so it would be art right? Yeah, I guess that's over my head. There is a certain subjectivity to any real definition of art but it stretches the lines of credulity to call what Ono does "art". It's sad but probably true that art peaked 500 years ago and it has been going downhill ever since.

@sfjp330:
OK, so hundreds of thousands were killed during WWII, many more were disabled and still suffer today and what were we fighting for? Germany and Italy never attacked the US so why did we fight them? The same reason the US fought in Vietnam. Ali didn't care about the people of Vietnam or the million plus in Cambodia that died after the US left the region. They just didn't care about the oppression imposed on millions of Asians by followers of a failed and discredited Communist ideology. He, and the other draft dodgers and those that took the rich way out, cared about their own safety - that's all. I don't blame them for being scared; but don't come back and say they were great people because they couldn't bring themselves to do their duty. I have family members that fought in Vietnam and the experience had a huge impact on their lives - in many ways negative. But by far they did the right thing for their country just as soldiers did in wars past.
I have served in the military myself so don't come off to me like I'm some kind of chicken hawk. What Ali did was to help young people to turn their backs on their fellow citizens during a very difficult time in their lives. The returning military men were treated like garbage by these young people. Ali didn't go to Vietnam so some other kid went in his place. Maybe a young black man, or a 18 year old country white kid. No matter, he got to run his mouth acting all indignant about being asked to do what other less well off blacks and other Americans did in his place.

Ali is a selfish, self-promoting loud mouth. He did very little for the cause of civil rights so let's not pat him on the back for pretending to have done so.
He is an icon among the cultural left because when his nation called, he turned and denounced his country instead. The country that despite treating other blacks so badly in the south, made him a millionaire many times over. One of the 1%.
Joe Louis and Jackie Robinson were real sports icons who understand their time in history and rejected the selfishness of Muhammad Ali. They are the ones that paved the way for black athletes. This is a puff piece on a polarizing and controversial man.
All that said, he was a great fighter who took part in some truly epic bouts. He has his place in boxing history. But many dislike him for his leftist politics and in your face self promotion.

I agree that America should reduce it's overseas military bases substantially. The US is currently in the process of spending itself into oblivion adding $4 trillion in debt in just three years under President Obama. The total US debt will be $20 trillion three or four more years from now. Europe should learn to fend for itself from here on out. NATO served it's purpose and is destined to disband in the not too distant future.
However, this decision should cause the Japanese some concern given China's aggressive military buildup and broad territorial claims in recent years. With Japan itself in a huge debt hole, it can ill afford a reduced US commitment to Japans defense. Even a renewed focus towards the Pacific cannot be supported by the US's diminishing economic muscle.
It must have slipped Panetta's mind that the Obama administration has just announced that they are going to lay off tens of thousands of soldiers. Hope he has faith in those unemployment checks.

Usually you would have to be drunk to get away with doing something so weird and ridiculous in public. He should see his doctor immediately.
He ran for Mayor, not comedian. Even a politician with a good sense of humor would be well advised to refrain from making a fool of themselves.

What idiots! Never the less, it's telling that some people think it's worse that the guys peed on their bodies than to have killed them in the first place. Well, I guess this must be just another one of President Obama's nonsensical military policies. They were probably just following orders.

Based on the track record of our current president and the state of the Republican nomination, Romney is the best hope for the country now. That's a sad statement, but it is what it is. President Obama is in way over his head and he is spending the America into oblivion. I don't think any president has ever racked up as much debt as Obama has - and his term isn't even over yet. He doesn't like legislating so he makes law by executive fiat. We all better hope that Romney wins in November. I don't think America can stand another $6 trillion dollars in debt and four more years of socialism. I "hope" for a "change" and soon.

Comments like this are a perfect example of the mindset that is leading to America's decline. Romney and his colleagues invested venture capital in struggling businesses. Some percentage of these businesses ultimately failed - but they surely would have failed anyway had they not been given additional resources and restructuring. Had Romney not invested in any of the struggling companies than a much higher percentage of people would have lost their jobs. Does politics blind people to common sense nowadays?
It used to be common knowledge that people were in business to make money - that's why people take risks and work hard in the first place. Jobs and the increase in revenue to the government in the form of an expanded business tax base are a byproduct. Obama is anti-business and anti-free choice (except for the choice to end a baby's life of course). A nation in which the government uses tax payers money to take risks (Solyndra) and the entrepreneurs are over regulated and constantly threatened by ever growing taxes is a nation that will struggle and ultimately fail. In other words, Obama has America on the path to Greece.

You can't blame him for jumping ship. Other than ideological zealots, no thinking person would want to stake their legacy on the unmitigated disaster known as the Obama presidency.
