It is simplistic and erroneous to try to make the case that Conservatives think that all or even some government regulation is bad. Capitalism is not anarchy - it requires rules and regulations to function. Conservatives see regulation as a means to make Capitalism work efficiently. Liberals use regulation for social experimentation - which is not nuanced at all.
Presdient Obama's domestic agenda - especially health care reform - will increase the distortion in resource allocation already present in the current system. The result, an economy that functions poorly, high unemployment and significant losses for Democrats in the coming mid-term elections.

Electoral politics often comes down to the prevailing mood of the electorate influenced by the economy, unemployment levels, and how secure or insecure people feel about the country's direction and their own future prospects. As opposed to '06 and '08, the momentum has clearly turned and is now against Democrats. Due to a certain level of demoralization and disappointment in Obama on the part of Democrats and a continued weak economy, I expect a significant narrowing of Democrat majorities in Congress. Clearly, the fillabuster proof majority in the Senate will be gone. It would take a nearly historic "wave" election for power to change hands in the House. This isn't likely but possible should the economy stall and some unforeseen foreign event intercedes.
What is encouraging is that even in a very difficult economy, the American people are not clamoring for bigger government as reflected in polls showing a lack of support for Obama's health care reform, Wall Street bailouts, and his ineffective stimulous program. Democrats are scaring the American people with their deficit spending in the face of popular opposition and ballooning debt levels.
What is particularly disturbing to me is the effort by President Obama and his allies in Congress and the media to politicize everything to the extent that polarization in the country is as bad now as in any time in recent history. He never ceases to blame former-president Bush for his problems. No opposition to Obama's foreign or domestic agenda is met without charge of being 'un-American'. This way of thinking has come from high up in the Democratic party - specifically Speaker Pelsoi. President Obama and the Democrat party are pushing an extreme Leftist ideology which is not acceptable to a majority of Americans.
It will be interesting to see how Obama reacts after Democrats are chastised at the polls in November. I suspect that he will be unable to moderate his agenda and will continue to damage the nations economy and national security.

The sad thing about this is that the Western press allowed the riots and intimidation to keep them from publishing the Muhammad cartoons. They should have been posted in every newspaper in the free world. Instead, the blatant fear and censorship on the part of the press has only validated the approach of the radical Islamists. Terrorists like this Somali nut can isolate those brave enough to challenge raidical Islam and attack them until they too are silenced. This is a sad time for journalism and for free societies in general.

This is not true. It was only after the Democratic party began to use Gitmo as a political tool for election that it became a divisive issue. Also, I wasn't speaking for all Americans. I stated that the American people will support Obama if he really will commit to using 'every element of power to thwart terrorist'. That is just my opinion and likely a well founded one.
This is also not true. You are confusing natural law or the rights of human beings with the laws governing matters of civil, criminal, immigration matters and the like. Also, if American citizenship was indistinguishable from citizenship in any other nation, then there would be no need for passports, and there would not be differences in law based on culture or custom.
I would contend that your post is the one that doesn't make sense. I am just trying to make the point that most reasonable Americans want to support President Obama in protecting our nation from Islamists. I don't think that President Obama should "torture" anyone. Then again, I don't want him to facilitate the goals of the enemy either. Criminal law and war are quite different. I believe that Liberals do not see the difference and would prefer to treat the enemy no different than a thief or an embezzler.
If you believe terrorists that are in prison in America and are tried in American courts have the same rights as any other person, then what do you think about the Obama administration that says the terrorists will be convicted and that they will not be allowed to walk the streets of America? It sounds as though they will either not be given a fair trial or that they will be subject to further imprisonment after having been found innocent. If they have no chance of being found innocent and being set free, how can one call this a protection of their rights? It's all just a sham to make it seem like these people are getting a better deal then they would get in Guantanamo. But it fact, they are just getting the opportunity to mock Americas criminal justice system.
President Obama is not serious about radical Islamists. He only sought to attack the Republican party and get himself elected President. He never thought through what he would actually do if he got elected and had to defend the country. He is giving terrorists like KSM rights that no other nation has ever given a person who is at war with their country. He is setting a precendent that will haunt America and his legacy.

This was a failure but we got lucky. Let's pocket that and fix the problem. The one person I have the most trouble with at this point is the Homeland Security secretary. She tried to minimize the issue by suggesting that the system worked. That was just crass politics trying to cover up for an Executive branch failure. I don't like that her first inclination was to spin and not fess up to an obvious failure and explain how she would fix the problem. She may not be the right person for such an important job.

The American people will support Obama if he will really would commit to using 'every element of power to thwart terrorist'. However, closing Gitmo and moving the terrorists into the country and giving them the same rights as American citizens is naive and dangerous. Just moving Gitmo from Cuba to Illinois does not change anything except to give the terrorists more opportunities to pursue their objectives - with more legal levers to boot. Abdulmutallab should be packed up and sent to Gitmo immediately. Keeping the Islamic terrorists in the country just provides additional impetus for attacks in the US. It is a no lose situation for Al Qaeda. They either succeed and kill a lot of people, or the terrorists get caught and they get the publicity of a terror trial in which the American judicial system is used against itself.

Let's go get 'em President Obama. But first, how about telling your Homeland Security secretary to stop trying to cover up a government failure. She thinks that the system worked correctly even though the government was warned about the terrorist by the guys own father. The man was able to successfully get high explosives onto a US bound plane and nearly detonate the substance to kill about 300 people! If that is the way the government system works, it's no wonder that people don't want ObamaCare!

There is nothing irrational about the fact that Obama is socialist. Can you make a serious argument that he is a free market capitalist? The health care bill does go against the will of the America people. By the only real measures we have to judge public sentiment - the polls - there is a general opposition to this health care bill. The RealClearPolitics poll gives an average of the polls and is a good read of overall opinion of the current health care plan. Currently, it is 51% to 38% against.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/obamaanddemocratshealthcare_plan-1130.html
Everyone believes in reforming the health care system. Not everyone believes that government is the answer. I believe that the government is driving the inefficiencies and cost increases. This will not change as government gains control over 80% of health care costs.
"Troll", "pissed off" - more irrational statements demonstrating your 'phsychic' abilities to know the thinking of other people. Try making a rational argument in opposition to what I actually write instead of what you think I a believe. I have been posting here for years. I am no "troll".
You cannot defeat someone else in a debate if you do not make any arguments in defense of your own view and instead call the other person "inflammatory" and question their patriotism. If you can prove that I am not patriotic, then I would be happy to hear your arguments and re-examine my support for my country.
The future of America is in danger by the increase in the deficit and debt caused by growing government spending. This helth care bill does not cut health care spending or reduce the increase. It specifically increases spending by at least $900 billion over the next ten years. But common senses tells us that it will be much more than that because it excludes the Doc fix, the Medicare cuts that probably will not happen, and the historic under estimation of the cost of social welfare programs. These increases costs mean that money that could have been used to reduce the deficit will be spent on another inefficient government program. It makes us all poorer now and in the future, destroys American competitiveness, hinders prospects for future growth, and will lead to higher structural unemployment like that found in Europe.

I agree, but those nations enjoy the benefit of the stability created by the international obligations that America has taken upon itself in the post WWII era. Under presidents from both political parties, America has pursued a foreign policy of expanded freedom and trade. America's debt burden will make it impossible to afford that in the future. That too is pretty scary. What will the world be like with China as the world's leading power? I haven't seen much altruism in their foreign policy. They care little about freedom and human rights.

You will get no argument from me on that point. But I believe that President Obama and Democrats have made the same promises to be fiscally responsible and look at where the nations fiscal situation is headed. In just ten years the national debt will go from $10 trillion to somewhere in the range of $20~$25 trillion. We can all make excuses that well, there was 9/11 and Katrina, there was the Dot Com bubble from the Clinton years, or the housing crisis and the Wall Street collapse, etc. All of that is no excuse to expand government when government is already in a huge fiscal hole and is unable to pay for the obligations it already has. We have all heard the saying: 'When you are in a hole, stop digging'. Well, America's government is not only continuing to dig, it is digging faster and deeper than ever.
I admire that sentiment and I hope that you will volunteer more of your income to the IRS because the country will need your support. With increased social spending, your taxes should be much higher than they are now don't you think? As it is, the nation is in a serious debt crisis at current tax rates.
Yes, you are right from the standpoint in that I am extreemingly worried about America's future. I see what has happened to other socialists nations and I worry that could be our fate.
Many nations with better health care delivery systems are not in danger of financial collapse, and so it doesn't have to be that way here either.

And just how do you know that? That's a pretty ridiculous statement on your part. Dude, if you think I am lying about my concern about huge annual deficits and an unsustainable debt, then I would suppose you could just make up anything to support your point of view. That's not a rational manner of debate.
Again, that is a ridiculous and irrational statement on your part. Now that Obama is president are only Leftists patriotic? When Bush was president, did you think dissent was the highest form patriotism? I suppose only a Benedict Arnold would dare question the policies of America's greatest socialist leader.
If I'm going to be defeated, I would prefer to go down fighting and not surrender to a political ideology that has failed everywhere it has been tried. President Obama's socialist policies (just like the Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare systems) will fail because they are unsustainable. Socialism always fails because of it's intrinsic failure to understand human nature. The reason that freedom and capitalism works best (though it is by no means perfect) is due to it's harnessing of mankinds inate motivations in a manner that benefits society as a whole. This health care debate is a debate over political ideology and America's future. The more successful President Obama's bankrupting agenda is in Congress, the bleaker America's future becomes. I hardly see how stating the obvious makes me unpatriotic.

Wait a second, that isn't what DickMorris stated. He wrote, 'the Irish catholic church was a well known shelter for gay pedos.' He didn't say "all" or "most" gay pedophiles become priests. However, it is obvious that there are many Catholic priests that are both homosexual and pedophiles. Access to children in a trusting situation is likely a reason for the desire on the part of gay pedophiles to become priests. It is quite similar to how it used to be with gay scout master's. However, the Boy Scouts have not covered up for the abuses and have actively sought to prevent them these predators from getting such trusted positions. It is both a moral and legal failing on the part of leaders in the Catholic Church for not handling this problem so as to protect children from abusers.

Profiling has and always will be a common law enforcement pratice. It's only when the Left find it convenient to use it as an excuse to attack people or policies that they do not like that it is an issue.
Profiling is a method to narrow down a search. For example, if a bank robber is reported to be a white man driving a blue Chevy truck, then that is the profile that law enforcement will use to look for the perpetrator. However, it is possible that the robber could have ditched the blue truck and stolen some other car - the cops know that. However, it's just a means to begin the search. Otherwise, there would be no practical way to employ limited law enforcement resources. It is just common sense.
It is not the fault of law enforcement that the overwhelming majority of those that commit terrorists acts are Muslim. It is the fault of Muslims themselves that they have allowed their religion to be hi-jacked for political ends. This is just another example of how political correctness can kill.

Unlike many other crimes, it is astonishing how often people who are sexually attracted to minors are so often caught in the same crime even after having been severely punished. What could possibly account for this? Anyone like Leggs who preys on little girls and boys for their sexual gratification are pretty disgusting people. It's bad enough for the children that are killed, but those living through such an experience will live a difficult life of constanting trying to overcome the experience.

It's great and all that socialists are happy about America's new health care system, but meanwhile the country is spending itself into oblivion. America cannot sustain it's current social welfare programs much less add another. ObamaCare envisions an additional $900 billion in health care spending on top of the already nearly one sixth of GDP currently being spent for health care. Where does the money come from to pay for the more than $50 trillion in unbacked benefits due for Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid over the next 70 years? America has a nearly $2 trillion deficit for the current fiscal year alone. The accumulated debt will reach $22 ~ $25 trillion within ten years. A significant and growing portion of the annual budget goes to debt payments.
The Soviet Union destroyed itself in a very similar manner as the US and Japan are doing today. The USSR spent huge amounts on social programs and the military. The US is doing the same - and the countries military obligations will only grow in the future. Japan is borrowing more than half of this coming fiscal years budget to pay for increased social programs in a nation that is getting older and whose population is shrinking.
What kind of nation will future generation inhereit where inflation and unemployment are all high? Where will the innovation and economic growth come from when businesses are crushed under huge amounts of taxation and regulation? I sincerely believe that this profligate spending in the face of huge and growing deficits and debt is flat out insanity. Where socialists are giddy with excitement over the passing of health care, I am both depressed and angry over the future prospects of my country.
