Maybe the world should actually wait and see if man-made global warming isn't just a socialist fraud before committing economic suicide. Despite what Al Gore's computer models have projected, the Earth has not warmed at all in a decade. Even so, that hasn't stopped the enironment worshipping bureaucrats at the UN from continuing to put out random and continuously extended deadlines by which time the world will be doomed if all humanity doesn't return to living in caves like our Cro-magnon ancestors.
Given the reluctance to support nuclear power, there is no way to increase the amount of energy that the world needs while simultaneously cutting cabron emissions by some random percentage. I am all for reducing pollutants, but carbon dioxide is plant food and is essential for life on Earth. Let's not turn Al Gore from a millionaire into a billionaire based on incomplete science.

Exploring dark matter is the most interesting area that I hope will come from CERN. If the Europeans are lucky, their investment will provide as much amazing science as the Hubble telescope has.
The idea of creating a black hole in a laboratory was at first kind of scary sounding given what it is known about them. I've since become less concerned given the miniscule size involved. There are black holes all over the universe and at the center of all galaxy's. They do not threaten the matter around them once a large enough area close to them have been cleared out.

You are correct but only in the short term. The long term goal of Democrats is to make citizens dependent upon the government and therefore assure their long-term political fortunes. Once you give a 'benefit' it is very difficult politically to take it away or even change it substantially. Social Security is a perfect example of this. Everyone knows that the program is headed for insolvency but no politician has the courage to change it because everyone has been forced to pay into it and all expect to get their investment back (whether the money is there or not). Bush made a valiant effort in his second term but it went nowhere because Dems accused him of trying to force grandma to choose between making the house payment or eating.
The more that Democrats can redistribute wealth through social programs such as national health care, Medicare, Medicaid, and the various Great Society welfare programs, the better chances they have to maintain political power. President Obama has made it clear that he wants to redistribute wealth and the country is well on our way to having a national tax base that only half of it's citizens pay into. Given that the national health care system will encompass such a huge proportion of the nations wealth, it brings a very large proportion of the nations economy under direct government control. The question now is, where can one go to regain their freedom from a controlling and liberty destroying government? The government is actually going to force citizens to buy health insurance or penalize them with fines or jail. It's crazy!

This has always been about the political fortunes of the Democrat party and has ever been about health care per se. These 60 votes will pretty much guarantee that there will be socialized medicine in the U.S. The reason is that Sen. Reid will use reconciliation when the final vote comes requiring only 50 votes. A vote to continue debate is a vote for socialized medicine. This vote is great for the Democrats but terrible for the nation. Prepare to see people going to jail for not wanting to give up their freedom to the Federal government.
The Democrats march in lock step to micro-manage the lives of every American and bankrupt the nation. Why is it that the Dems were so worried about the deficit before one of their own because President and now they could care less. Whenever you have a left wing opinion writer like David Broder admitting that the Senate and House bills are budget busters it is very telling.

I have to give President Obama credit for forcing nationalized health care on the American people who obviously do not want it. They are perfectly willing to sacrifice some of their members in the next election to turn America into a European style welfare state.
Do any American Liberals actually care about the future of their own country? The nation cannot afford more government obligations when it already is not able to meet it's current future obligations for Social Security and other social programs. What good will all of these government programs be when their is no money to pay for them. What will happen to the prospects of freedom worldwide when the US is so hamstring by it's own financial and enconomic problems that it cannot oppose tyrannical forces abroad?

Taxes will start immediately but the Dems socialized health plan does not kick in until four years later. Yeah, they really thought this plan out well. So in the second decade, is the system going to shut down for four years so taxes can be collected to pay for the next six years? How can anyone believe that this huge government program will actually reduce the deficit? No government social program ever cost less than it is projected to when it was enacted. Do people really believe that Congress will cut $500 billion from Medicaid? When the time comes to cut, Congress never gets the nerve to actually do it. The best current example is the annual "Doc Fix". What good is a nationalized health care system that is bankrupted on the day it is created?
The US government is already committing fiscal suicide without this huge government program. This is absolute insanity! It is estimated that the U.S. government already has over $50 trillion in unfunded liabilities over the next 70 years. Any funds that could have been raised to pay for these costs will be soaked up by government run health care. The government has taken peoples earnings throughout their lives to pay for Social Security, but what will happen when the money runs out? The people pushing for government programs now are just plane selfish and care nothing about the lives of future generations that will be saddled with huge debt and underfunded social programs. The government is going to get much larger and taxes will go up to supposedly pay for this increased spending all the while the annual debt will continue to be in excess of a trillion dollars each year over the next ten years.
The final insult is that anyone who doesn't want to be involved with this travesty will be fined and ultimately imprisoned. The Dems just can't stand letting people control their own destiny.

I wonder if there are more random knife attacks or if it is just reported more now than in the past. There is reason to believe that social changes in Japan can be attributing to this type of behaviour. Enonomic insecurity and an uncertain future for the nation as a whole due to a declining/aging population and staggering debt and welfare obligations make for bleak prospects for a young man. Woman don't want to marry at a young age and many don't want to be married at all. These aren't excuses but perhaps contributing factors to this type of an outburst. Then again, Nishino is probably just a nut case.

Fort Bragg will give Palin a big time reception but the decision to limit media coverage is reasonable. Military bases are not the venue for politicking. That being said, she is no doubt very popular among the troops. I seriously doubt that she will make many political statements.
It is common knowledge that most people in the military tend to be conservative and many probably are not Obama fans. However, he is the Commander-in-Chief and should not be denigrated in any fashion in the media by military personnel. The media could take any offhand statement by some soldier and publicize it. This is always going to be a concern when the president is a Liberal Democrat.

You don't have to treat people differently just because they are Muslim. All you have to do is pay attention to people's behaviour. Hasan wasn't hiding his raidical Islamist views. If his superiors and colleagues were less worried about getting promoted and afraid to be given a bad performance review by identifying a minority soldier as a problem, this terrorist probably could have been stopped.
As victimcrat says, 'Political correctness kills'.

Very nice Picture of the Day. It is expected for most models to be stick thin. This isn't just a Japan thing. I don't particularly like the fact that models are always so adolescent looking but that is just the way it is. It seems to me that most Japanese prefer this look to the more volumptous and curvy look.
As for the post above stating that J-models are submissive and giggly - that's seems to be overly harsh. Japanese women are not all that submissive in relationships. Sure, most probably are not the in your face feminista Gloria Steinem types. However, J-girls are assertive in different and less confrontational ways than Western woman can be - generally speaking. You don't have to be Atilla the Hun to be assertive.

No other world leader does a 90 degree full out prostration to the Emperor of Japan. What point is President Obama trying to make by being the only world leader to do so? Perhaps it is simply a continuation of Obama's world apology tour. The man obviously believes that the nation he leads is the worst nation on earth and should be subservient to all others. The symbolism of national leaders is quite telling. He exudes weakness with every foreign nation he visits. It's as if he is begging some enemy to take a shot at America. He is a national disgrace.

It's a very pretty picture and she looks lovely. I just don't see why a 30 year old woman who is six months pregnant should be wearing all white and having a "traditional" wedding. I'm not saying she should be a virgin or anything like that, it's just that she and her husband are a bit past the pure image of a traditional wedding ceremony. I hope they can make things work but too many show biz weddings do not have a good success rate.

Winger humor - seijichuudo9sha : Winger humor: "Khalid Sheikh Mohammed got his first virgin - Obama."
Yeah. Real funny, if youre the kind of person who thinks Glen Beck can hold his own with Keith Olbermann.
Dude, Obermann can't even hold his own against the virgin let alone Beck...

Only because it's the Obama administration doing it. You'd have no problem if bush put this jerk on trial. Problem is, bush didn't have the balls to do so.
You are wrong - Bush would have been excoriated by the media had he done the same thing. President Obama and AG Holder better pray that none of these guys get off on a technicality - which is very, very possible since this is not a criminal matter - but a military one.

Hasan was allowed to remain in the most conservative institution in America because of the pervasive desease of political correctness. Anyone singling him out as a potential danger would have been accused of being a racist and anti-Islamic. There was a time when political correctness was just annoying, now it kills. He should be charged with terrorism and sedition as well as murder. Hasan is a Islamic terrorist. There really isn't much of an argument that can be made otherwise.

This is the most egregious and offensive thing that I could possibly imagine in handling the mastermind of 9/11 - Khalid Sheikh Muhammad. There is now a very real possibility that the terrorist that killed 3,000 people will get acquited on some legal technicality. This is a stupid and asinine decision by the Obama Administration.
This is not a criminal matter. This is a matter of terrorism and war. It is a insult to the people of New York to bring the terrorist behind the murder of so many of their fellow New Yorkers to their city - just blocks from the former site of the World Trade Center. Was Muhammad read his miranda rights when he was apprehended? This alone could be the basis for an acquital in a criminal trial. President Obama is so naive and short-sighted in his handling of this matter that it is completely incomprehensible.
There is no rational reason to prosecute a combatent during war time in a civilian court. It is totally unworkable and is a threat to national security. How much classified information will have to be divulged to defend the terrorists? Why put a huge target on New York city for other terrorists to take advantage of? Think of the huge propaganda and recruiting bonanza this is going to be for terrorists as they turn this ill-conceived proceeding into a circus and platform for espousing global jihad against the United States.
This is just awful and could very well turn into a huge debacle with terrible future repercusions. Nothing good will come out of this decision. We can only hope that the outrage of Americans will force Obama to reverse this decision.

Walking skeletons with food drapped around them is creepy. As fashion, it's a stupid idea. It's hardly art in my opinion. Just doing something whacky that not many people have done before is hardly creative. I know that in todays world, anything no matter how silly can be called art, but in my opinion, this doesn't qualify. This is fashion inspired by what something a ten year old might do.
