There is a reason why it is called the 'UN Conference on Racism'; it is where the UN expresses the racist ideology of the overwhelming majority of it's members. Why Obama "regrets" not attendning is astonding!

I agree, the car takes up way too much space in this picture. Miss Japan has had some very beautiful winners in recent years that were competitive in Miss Universe.

Normally I don't have much good to say about Obama, but you have to give credit where credit is due. This was a good call on his part - and better execution by the Navy guys. It's too bad that it comes down to having to kill these guys but when you threaten violence, you must face the consequences when your victims (in this case, those who depend on the freedom of the seas) defend themselves. This is a small matter though. I still think Obama is the second coming of Jimmy Carter on national security.

There seem to be many of a certain "ilk" who would prefer that Saddam continue to be around terrorizing his own people and rewarding the families of suicide bombers. People forget how much it has cost for over the years in terms of dollars and lives for countries to ensure their own freedom and to obtain the freedom of the people of Europe and several countries in Asia? Freedom isn't free and it isn't cheap. But hey, your enjoying the benefits of others sacrifice - the heck with those poor saps living under tyrants like Saddam. Thankfully, their still seem to be enough young men and women willing to serve in the tradition of those that came before them.
As for those still complaining about the death of servicemen because of George Bush's war, President Obama could withdraw all forces today and there would likely be no more deaths in Iraq than if Saddam were still in power; as so many seem to prefer. This is Obama's war now.
Moderator: Readers, Saddam is not relevant to this discussion.

VP Biden is a big-mouthed idiot. He has been virtually inviting hostile foreign nations to "test" the US and he has the gall to say that Cheney is 'dead wrong' - which seems to be his favorite phrase. If the last administration left us weaker than before, why did Obama retain Bush's Secretary of Defense? The Obama administration is closing down Gitmo and has already stated that some of the terrorists kept there will be released into the United States. Obama is going to cut defense spending, cut the development of the proven missile defense system, and is going around the world telling everyone how horrible America is. No Joe, that doesn't make the country safer by any stretch of the imagination.

The UN is completely useless. How many times in the past has the United Nations passed resolutions that get violated and they do nothing in response? Too many times to count. The North Koreans know that the UN is incapable of enforcing international law and are not at all concerned about what the Security Council might do.
I agree with Grafton. If Japan would even threaten to go nuclear that might at least get the attention of the Chinese to do something about their crazy ally Kim. However, that would be a very contentious road for the Japanese to go down domestically. Japan must continue to develope it's missile defenses and lay the groundwork for future defense changes. This means a revision to Article 9. I do believe that the US probably does not want Japan to become a nuclear power, but that wouldn't in any way diminish the strong defense relationship between the two countries. It is an understandable reaction on the part of Japan considering growing Chinese and North Korea military power right in their back yard.

Of course the US is not a war with the Islamic religion itself. The US, and other nations that are under attack, are however at war with Islamic-inspired terrorists. President Obama is playing Captain Obvious...

If it takes a picture of a dead body to make one truely understand the seriousness of war, then I don't think that says much about such a persons cognitive ability. In many ways, a picture does speak louder than words. However, unless you are interested in politicizing war for partisan gain, there is nothing to gain from making death into PR sport. A country should always treat those who have sacrificed with respect. The press uses the images of dead bodies as a way to generate revenue for this business. If the families would like to invite the press to their family funeral, then that is there own business and is fine by me. But the government shouldn't be making a circus of such a serious matter. That is what Obama and the Democrat party would like to do with the military. They have never truely respected the role of the military and the mostly conservative people that make up the services. At least leaving it up to the family members doesn't force all American soldiers that have died in war to be partisan props for the Democrat party.

Just from a photography standpoint, the cluttered background does detract from the subjects. A simple background would help the viewer of the picture to see the kimono's and lovely ladies much better. However, this is still a very good picture. It's hard to mess up beauty like that.

I can't believe that the European's don't want to help President Obama! I thought they just didn't want to help because Bush used to be president. It turns out that they don't want to cooperate with America - no matter how weak the American President. I guess the worst president in American history is already failing to bring the world together as he promised - wow, what a surprise for those naive lefty's. The Euros likely decided not to help out after BO told them all about how terrible a country the United States is.

“Our plan does not change the recognition of Pakistan as a sovereign government”
That may be what Obama says, but he has allowed US attacks on Pakistani territory on numerous occasions. Also, during the Presidential campaign he flat out stated that he would attack Pakistan if there were Al Qaeda there to kill.

How has this de-generated into an anti-Second Amendment debate? There wasn't even a gun used in the crime itself. Thank goodness a policeman had a gun to stop the man from killing the 9-year old. This is just a horrible murder by a crazed killer. There is no way to make sense of this and not much point in trying to make a political issue out of it.

When developing nations bring some finances to the table, then they can have a say. Otherwise, they can just mind their own business and continue running their dictatorships and destroying their own counties economies. Developed countries don't need Lula's help in screwing up the worlds economy - they are doing that just fine by themselves at the moment.
