If Pakistan or Afghanistan go down the tube - it will be because of Obama. Too many Liberals don't want to take responsibility for anything and periodically relapse into BDS (Bush-derangement syndrome) and forget that Bush isn't president anymore. During certain parts of the recent presidential campaign, Obama got all hawkish and suggested that he would attack Pakistan if he had to. If he decides to do so, I bet the Left will be all gung-ho for war all of the sudden.

spudman: He got what he could? His job was to find out who leaked a CIA agents name to the press. He knew that before his investigation began. No one disputes that Armitage - not Libby or Cheney - leaked the name. He should have closed up shop right then. Dude, it's more like you are being brainwashed by too many hours on MoveOn.org. I am no fan of Bush's big government spending on domestic boondoggles like prescription drugs and the banks, but he was right on the big issues of national security. Not only did he have to fight the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, but our own Democrat's that back-stabbed of our military and the flat-out untruths propagated by the Liberal-leaning press on so many matters when things became difficult in Iraq. The Plame matter was just part and parcel of that whole 'vast Left-wing conspiracy' - to paraphrase a well known wife of purjurer.

Obama talked down the economy to get elected. He talked it down some more to scare Americans into passing his huge porkulous spending bills and socialist agenda. Now he is talking up the economy to get re-elected. Whether or not people have a job or the nation goes bankrupt is beside the point.

Cheney is right of course. Fitzgerald went after Bush and Cheney to make a name for himself and instead got Libby on a a technicality unrelated to the matter he was investigating in the first place. Libby was found guilty of perjury about a crime he didn't commit. Fitzgerald knew who the crime was committed by before his investigation started but he did not pursue charges against the real culprit - Richard Armitage. That is pretty much proof that he was only interested in a political jihad against Bush or Cheney. Libby was caught in the cross-fire of an overzealous and politically motivated prosecutor and a politically motivated Liberal press. These hate-mongers wanted Bush or Cheney so badly that they whipped themselves up into a raging frenzy of bile and righteousness. I just have one question, when will Armitage be pilloried and 'frog-marched' in front of CNN's camera's for his crime? Answer: Not going to happen - the Left like Armitage.

Hakujinsensei - you make many good points about how the world got to it's present situation. There is no alternative to capitalism that will lift people out of poverty. All you have to do is look at China and North Korea to see the potential of free markets over statism/socialism. Heavy Keynesian stimulous programs like the US, China, and much of the rest of the insudtrialized world is currently engaged in are a dead-end in the long run. The small, short term economic gain of government spending is eventually swamped by rising inflation, interest rates, and the burden on future productivity imposed by the taxes required to manage such large levels of debt over many years. Restrained government spending and high levels of growth are the only way out of this mess; this is only possible under free market capitalism. European (Obama) socialism just will not generate growth. Add to that the inability of socilists (or anyone else for that matter) to reduce government spending and you are looking at a looming financial armagaddon that will cause even more social upheaval. We are heading down a dead-end street.

“I think that not just the Chinese government, but every investor, can have absolute confidence in the soundness of investments in the United States,”
Wow - this statement is clearly detached from reality. Only a few weeks ago President Obama was warning the Congress of a looming catastrophe if they didn't pass is porkulus package. This guy is schizoid! Bush said something similar before the crash last Fall and was crucified for it. I suspect we will not hear a peep from the mainstream press on this stupid statement. Obama needs to get out of his bubble in Washington and see what is happening to the retirement investments of his fellow Americans.

Obama will have created more debt in less than two years than Bush had in eight. By the time his term ends, he will have accrued more debt than the total of all debt accumulated by all previous presidents. Skepticism is definately in order. The Obama administration is a bunch keystone cops when it comes to economics. His administration still can't come up with a financial recovery plan. He is clueless. All he knows how to do is run for office. Now that he has reached the highest office he can possibly attain, he doesn't know what to do.

Obama is intent on establishing clear lines of communication so that he may clearly and adamitly state his intention to surrender whenever Yang demands it. Obama will continue to be pushed and prodded until he shows some backbone - so far, I'm not encouraged.

Don't worry, Mosul will be fine. President Obama will talk to the terrorists and the brillance of his logic and reasoning will end the violence in time for American forces to return home based on his political schedule; not the situation on the ground in Mosul.

The only reason that Pres. Obama is able to politicize this issue is because government is getting involved. I am not against stem cell research, because I don't think life begins until there is a heart beat and/or brain activity. I am just against the government paying for it. However, too many dismiss the ethical issues that are involved that should be taken seriously. Just because "science" can do something doesn't necessarily make it ethical. It has become liberal ideology to blow off ethical concerns due to their Utilitarian world view. There are many people that don't share their ideology and shouldn't be forced to pay for it. Liberals are free to take 50% of their income and contribute to stem cell research performed by private institutions.

The death penalty is necessary if you are interested in justice for the crime of premeditated murder. Anything short of the death penalty for murder - the only punishment possible that is commensurate to the crime - logically implies the lack of justice. A life sentence for murder isn't anything close to justice. This issue has nothing to do with rehabilitation. By the way, Texas is the home state of former Democrat President Lyndon Johnson.
The regional "diversity" mentioned in the article is what America is all about. Here we go again - Liberals that say they are for diversity but against diversity that they disagree with. It's too bad that they are just as upset about the shariah sanctioned murder on the part of Muslims.

The only change that Pres. Obama is bringing to America is record budget deficits. It's amazing how Lefty's attacked Bush for running a deficit and making a massive increase in Medicaid spending and are OK with Obama's mind-numbing deficits! It was bad enough under Bush but this amount of yearly budget deficits are more than just a little scary. It appears that Obama's plan is to knock America down to size by burying it in debt - but with nationalized health care to show for it. His very radical Leftist political aspirations and the tremendous deficits that he is racking up will divide the nation between those dependent upon the state and those that the state is dependent upon to fund his socialist vision. Obama plans to strangle capitalism but to what end - I haven't the slightest clue. What does he put in it's place - socialist democracy with it's high unemployment rates and inexorable decline to mediocrity? Capitalism is the only economic system that has proven successful at raising living standards and reducing poverty. Socialism is and always has been a failed ecnonomic idea. Unfortunately, Obama is determined to prove that point again.
The man has only been in office a month and has already far exceeded the rate of deficit spending of any president in American history - no matter what the state of the worlds economy. This guy is like a six year old boy that has been given the keys to a candy store - except that he is done, we will all be sick.

Pretty sad to see Clinton over there on bended knee begging the Chinese to invest in the American economy. It would be better for her to kow-tow to Obama and beg him and her Deomcrat colleagues in Congress to stop spending money that the government doesn't have. They have only be in office a month and they have already outdone Bush and the Republican Congress.

No scientist can 'prove' that the current global warming cycle is caused by people. There are some interesting theories and highly suspect climate models based on a great number of assumptions - that's it. Correlation does not prove causation. I won't be bludgeoned into agreeing with the Al Gore doomsday scenarios when there is no scientific "consensus" on the science - no matter how often Liberals say there is - and the idea of human causes for global warming cannot be proven. My understanding is that currently, greenhouse gases make up only one percent of the total volume of the atmosphere. The source of these greenhouse gases vary based on many factors such as volcanic activity and solar output. Human's "might" also be a significant contributor to that as well. But it is a great leap in thinking to say that human activity is the single or even most significant cause of the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and that this is the reason for the current warming trend.
There have been sudden warming periods in earth's past when humans were not burning fossil fuels. It is certainly possible that the same causes of those previous relatively quick warming periods could be causing the current warming - totally independent of the fact that humans are burning fossil fuels. Personally, I think that solar cycles and volcanic activity have much more to do with global temperatures than the human use of fossil fuels.
I think that alternative fuels such as solar and wind are a good idea for national security reasons. But they are not ready yet to take over the primary role of providing energy in place of fossil fuels. At some point, if these technologies and others are more cost efficient than the current energy mix, then that's great. If not, we shouldn't be forced to use expensive alternative fuels based on an incomplete understanding of global climate.

Unfortunately, the reason why race is such a difficult subject to discuss is because whites are terrified to say the wrong thing and therefore get branded a racist. We have a black president and Holder himself is Attorney General. What does American need to do to make this guy happy - put Whitey in chains? He is an idiot!
