This is all sort of surreal. Sometimes I can't seem to understand how things got to this point in Europe. Then I just look at America and see them pursuing the same reckless government spending policies that they can clearly see is causing a contagion in Europe. Are all Western nations run by idiots?

Everyone knows that entitlement programs need to be restructured so that they are sustainable and that taxes need to be restrained to a level that will not strangle growth. However, no politician in Europe or the US is willing to do anything about it for fear of losing power.

So in Europe, the politicians are playing it safe. I think it's time for them to give up on the idea of a united Europe under the current forced circumstances. Shotgun weddings aren't likely to make it in the long run.

Corzine can't explain missing MF Global funds

Sure he can, it's in the same place as the half a billion dollars President Obama blew on Solyndra.

My point is if you look at them and think they are cute like my daughter>good :) If you look at them and think i'd like to take one of them out for dinner on Valentines day > not so good!

Right. Say you look at them and think - "Hey, the one in the middle looks like a girl I just tried to pick up over by the school playground" - I think it's safe to say - that wouldn't be good.

It's amazing that they still have these silly talk-fests anymore. Man made global warming is a fraud and always has been. You only need to read the ever growing number of damning e-mails from the small self appointed gatekeepers of the global warming pseudo-science. They tried to distract you by changing their focus to 'Climate Change' - as if people would not notice that the Earth's climate has always changed - and always will. No scientist worth his salt would claim "consensus" in a discipline that all admit is still in it's infancy. Their minds are closed and will not accept anything against their belief. It's as if the Earth is flat again and no one wants to hear otherwise - or else!

The total of the planets atmosphere is made up of a tiny fraction of CO2 - the politically chosen mechanism whereby wealth transfer payments are to be made - by far the majority of this small fraction is natural.

Man made global warming is dead to all except it's stubbornly faithful followers.

An Australian man has been sentenced to 500 lashes and a year in jail by a Saudi Arabian court after being found guilty of blasphemy

I can't think of a better reason not to go to Saudi Arabia.

Making a factual statement about the effects of modernization and automation makes the president a luddite?

Since Obama is making the same false statements that all Socialists have been making about modernization and automation for the past century and a half.... yes, I would say it puts him in the same league.

Are Democrats really stupid enough to buy into President Obama's new re-election strategy? Using ever more socialism as a tool to tame capitalism is a fools errand. Europe is currently reaping the sour rewards of pursing this exact same path. Obama is already one of the worst presidents in history. This latest turn to the ideological left has him going for the undisputed crown.

I suppose if Bush had just killed them in a drone attack Amnesty International would be happier. Besides, doesn't A.I. know that the US has "tortured" thousands of it's own special operations soldiers by water boarding them as part of their training for years. They are probably still doing it today - under is holiness B.O.

Former President Bush has pursued anti-disease policies in Africa that has saved literally millions of lives. As much as Leftist organizations like A.I. hate Bush, Africans love him for what he has done on their continent.

The Japanese prisoner would have been liberated by the Germans. The Korean man likely would have remained a prisoner since their ally - the Japanese - had been colonizing Korea since about 1910.

Is this movie based on true events or is it a made up story? Seems far-fetched that they would end up seeing each other again in Normandy.

As for having a Western name, I noticed that when visiting Hong Kong. I have also been to South Korea but do not recall people having Western names there as well. I guess I need to get an Asian name...

Chinese President Hu Jintao on Tuesday urged the navy to prepare for military combat, amid growing regional tensions over maritime disputes and a U.S. campaign to assert itself as a Pacific power.

The US has been a Pacific power since the end of WWII. The writer of the article could have stated that the US is relatively weaker in the region than it used to be and is attempting to "re-assert" itself in the region. This is lazy journalism.

If the ratings get low enough the Korean drama's will go away. This assumes of course the normal relationship between ratings and commercial advertising prices. People should have the right to protest whatever they like, but until their fellow citizens stop watching, the K-drama's will make money and the show will go on.

Kitajima has been dominate in the breast stroke through the last two Olympics. It's not easy staying on top for that long in a very competitive sport like swimming. Even Michael Phelps seems to be beginning to lose his advantage since Beijing. This could just be an off competition or a down cycle in his training. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kitajima at the top of the gold medal stand again in London next year.

And please stop forcing us to look at cute young women.

I hope JT will grant your wish and stop forcing you to look at the girls from Kara. As for me, no force is required. I would venture to guess that they look fantastic chicken dancing.

The US and Japan ought start all of this over from the beginning. First, all US forces leave Japan or set a date certain for leaving. Then let the Japanese people decide if they really want the US to help them with their national defense (ie. deter China). Since the US would be leaving, the reality of their defense needs would be apparent to all. If they decide they want America's support the two sides can then get together and decide what US forces are required to accomplish this task. At this point, the US waits for however many years or decades it takes for the Japanese to decide where these forces can reside in Japan. In the meantime, if the Chinese get aggressive enough towards Japan it might be relatively easy to get the US military into the appropriate facilities.

It's humorous to read the comments on this site any time there is an AKB48 story. People get so upset that they get so much attention but how can JT not report on the biggest thing to hit the Japanese entertainment industry since Pink Lady?

What is most interesting about the 7-11 advertisement is how cake is associated with Christmas in Japan. I had never heard of a 'Christmas cake' before.
