    Yoko Ono says John Lennon’s iconic “Imagine” wasn’t initially embraced by the public.

    Hippies love the song because it was used as an anti-war anthem and is therefore defeatist and lacks any connection to reality. Not surprising since the song came out back when Yoko and John were running around naked and zonked out of their minds from every drug they could get their hands on.

    Could you guys reflect your Christian values a little more, please?

    I'm not a Christian either but I like to think I have common sense. Maybe I just old fashioned but I still feel like there is something to be said for common decency.

    A third former employee considered filing a workplace complaint against Herman Cain ...

    Just show her where she can pick up her settlement check! It's all about getting a share of the cash now.

    @yabits:

    I would say that most of the Japanese-Americans who wanted to sign up to serve were eager to do so in order to prove they could be good Americans. Unlike yourself, they did not see their fellow Americans has having anything in common with followers of Naziism. It is because they saw the promise of America -- though often a temporarily broken one -- which is unique in the world.

    I don't agree with you much but your most recent comments on this topic are very thoughtful and well stated.

    Thousands of Japanese-Americans who fought in the fiercest battles of World War II and became some of the most decorated soldiers in U.S. history were given an overdue thank-you from their country Wednesday when Congress awarded them its highest civilian honor.

    I think it's great that they are being remembered and honored but I don't think you can say that they "were given an overdue thank-you" right after stating that they are "some of the most decorated soldiers in US history". The fact that they are highly decorated makes it clear that they have already been thanked by the nation. Regardless, I always love seeing the old war veterans getting recognized.

    I would like to think that this "service" is causing an uproar in Japan, but I doubt that it is. Can't these young women, and in many cases young girls, say "no" to these types of over the top money making ventures?

    Unless Herman Cain makes the following comments, I would say he is free and clear...

    I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss ...

    @SushiSake3

    Erggh, Wolfpack mate. Deems elected a half black man to the highest position in the land. Your argument - which you don't have - is completely moot. Please try harder next time, thank you.

    OK, Republicans made a black man and a black woman Secretary of State. So what are we supposed to make of that? I suppose you must believe that conservatives are racist because they promote people based on their abilities and not just because of their race - like Liberals do. Surely the half black and half white man you are referring too isn't more qualified than the current Secretary of State! With unemployment at 9% and an economy on the verge of a double-dip recession, I would think that many Liberals now wish they would have made the right choice and not the politically correct one back in 2008.

    I look forward to hearing the story from Herman Cain's accuser - whoever she is. What did Cain do that was so egregious? There really is just an accusation of some unspecified impropriaty at this point and no real evidence of wrongdoing what so ever. Meanwhile, the main stream media has begun the high-tech lynching.

    Strangely, we liberals don't hate rich, successful black moderates and liberals. Also, we don't care too much for a number of rich, conservative white folks.

    Well, that is just the point I was trying to make. Liberals really dislike black (and female) conservatives. You just can't understand why a black man would want to be his own man and not stay on the plantation where they will be taken care of by white elitists who think they know better.

    White conservatives who think that promoting a black person who promotes their values somehow mitigates their own racism is, in fact, an overt sign of that very racism they try so hard to deny.

    That doesn't even make sense - so now conservatives are racist because they are not being racist enough with respsect to Herman Cain?. Conservatives are more interested in the "content of his character than the color of his skin." It's hard for Liberals to understand that because they spend their lives dividing up people by the color of their skin and assigning them discrete groups to be managed based on their racial classifications.

    Was Hill, a conservative black woman raised by a devout, conservative family in Oklahoma of good character? Absolutely. Did she want to testify? Initially, no.

    Anita Hill is no more conservative than Rev. Jeramiah Wright. If she was of good character she would have reported her alleged sexual abuse to the police at the time it occurred. Her testimony has made her a hero to the Left and secured her position as a Woman's Studies professor at the left leaning Brandeis University.

    The pathetic thing about the Cain accuser is that she will not make her claim in public. She is hiding behind a journalist and not subjecting herself to the same scrutiny that the accused is being subjected to. I suppose the game plane is she is supposed to feign reluctance for a while in order to build up publicity for her inevitable book deal. Perhaps a professorship will be in the offing as well...

    Liberals hate it that a black person is conservative and successful. They can't stand it because it destroys their race baiting game of accusing every conservative as being a overt or closet racist. So like Palin - a successful woman and conservative - Cain must be taken out by any means necessary. Liberals do this all the time to conservatives that get off the plantation. Have dare a black man leave the Democratic plantation!

    The problem here is that Anita Hill is and was always a decent and honorable person who told the truth

    If she had come out and accused him when it happened then she might have some credibility. The high-tech lynching that Justice Thomas endured was purely an act of defamation for political purposes.

    Now, if the accused is a Democrat, well we know what happens to those women. Just ask Kathleen Willey, Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers. etc. If the National Organization for Women have no problem with a politicians harassment of women, why the brouhaha now?

    I do think she deserves to be punished for attempting to bring drugs into a foreign country but the death penalty is not commensurate with the crime - even if the drugs were somehow associated with the death of someone else later on. The death penalty should only be used for a person who is directly responsible for another persons death. That said, she is an idiot or crazy.

    Other news reports have stated that the person that gave her the drugs was an Iranian national. It is a common tactic for drug smugglers to befriend someone who is gullible or desperate enough to take a bunch of money and a free plan ticket to carry drugs into another country. She made a dumb decision to break the law. She made a fatal decision by breaking the drug law in Malaysia.

    President Obama is hoping the Europeans can get their act together just long enough to keep the European contagion from reaching the US before his re-election. But it's coming. The Europeans are just kicking the can down the road and not resolving anything. The EU are on course to sell their souls to the Chinese because they will run out of temporary fixes for what are structural deficiencies. America should look at Europe and get a glimpse of their own future under a pro-Socialist president. America needs to pull together and stop this class war that Obama has launched because their time is running out too.

    President Obama is still "standing by" and watching people get killed in Syria. He couldn't do that for Libya - he had to help them. What is it about the Syrians that generates so little sympathy from Obama? I suppose the Assad regime hasn't killed enough people for him yet.

    Mexican authorities say at least 21 people were killed Friday in three shootouts between soldiers and gunmen and a fight between rival drug gangs.

    It would be interesting to know how many of the guns that AG Eric Holder exported to Mexico were used in these killings...

    Obama announces total U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq by year's end

    The headline should state, "Obama re-announces what Bush announced three years ago". Or how about this, "Obama refuses to extend pullout policy negotiated by previous administration". Is President Obama seriously attempting to take credit for a negotiated policy that was put in place before he became president?

    Ennahda officials have promised a broad-based coalition, and vowed to wary Tunisians that democratic principles as well as gender equality will be respected in line with Muslim Tunisia’s strong secular tradition.

    Why does this article have a headline stating "... moderate Islamists..." when Ennahda is supposedly for equality of the sexes and secularism? This article doesn't even attempt to explain the obvious contradiction between modern Islamism and moderation.
