Not only is this movie supposed to be of poor quality, the DVD is on sale in the rest of the civilised world on 22nd April. So it's 1800 yen to see an old crap film.

Dear JT editor, if this is the way forward, and material such as this is considered suitable for publication on this site, may we as readers submit our own salacious stories of seamy goings-on many of us have experienced whilst in japan? I think it would be a very valid cultural contribution and at least equal in value to translating stuff like this from any third-rate jazz mag. JT could even offer a prize for the best story received. If nothing else, it would very likely increase circulation if the bored office worker might be able to peruse the site with a good chance of getting at least a semi on, so would be viable in terms of revenue. What do other readers think?

GG, I think you're underestimating the callousness of McCain and his cabal.

other countries might feel that the Excited States of America is a threat to THEIR national security, and would, to use your way of thinking, be perfectly justified in launching a pre-emptive attack themselves!

That, I suspect, is exactly what he's hoping for. That's why there are US warships moored within sight of the Iranian coast, goading the populace whilst all the time making threatening noises like this.

I don't believe the Iranian government would be so rash as to launch a pre-emptive strike, but it's well within the realms of possibility that some misguided loony with delusions of patriotic martyrdom would respond to the constant taunts and use himself as a weapon.

Get into the the US mainland and perform some low-level, ham-fisted act causing some deaths or property damage, and that's all the NeoCons will need to pin it as proof of an AlQaida/Iranian conspiracy plot. Fox et al will whip up the masses into a panicked sense of victimhood, and the Pentagon can play the righteous vengeance card. Again.

And that's carte blanche to getstuck in, the way they've been champing at the bit to do this last five years. Cheney's been like a cockblocked teenager, held back from his PNAC goals by the rank incompetence of the Iraq fiasco. But a bit more concrete dust in the air of US city will wipe that reality away, and that's what McCain is aiming for here.

Get better-looking staff, proper waitresses who give you what you want instead of showing you where it is.

"Can I have a spoon please?" "They're over there" "I know where they are - now can I have one, please? I don't believe I work here."

but the ring finger of her left hand?

Azrael - that's a very astute observation. There can be few things crueller than teenage girls. I know, as I used to be a teenage boy.

The parenting skills notwithstanding, this is clearly a dangerous piece of apparatus. There should be a lawsuit for mucho spondola to ease the poor infant's pain as he grows up.

"OK, you're right, I can't get married. Excuse me while I drive home in my Ferrari."

I for one would be interested to hear bobcatfish's point of view. I believe differences of opinion are what make something a discussion board. And as to why the child's ethnicity is irrelevant I cannot begin to fathom. It is a delightful picture, and the JT readership should be free to comment on it as they choose, so long as nothing offensive is posted. The moderators are sometimes a little heavy-handed with their blue pencil.

I've never seen the point of shoving and jostling the rest of the herd so you get on the escalator before them, only to lose the use of your legs the instant you've got both feet on the machine. Especially when there's a perfectly good flight of stairs right next to it.

I'd take it, spend it and buy another dozen tickets. If the railways have so much dosh, how come they can't afford a bar of soap for the gents'?

"Dakota Fanning. She was very good in War of the Worlds"

You must like screaming. And bad movies.

War of the Worlds took $588,929,061 at the box office - seems it was good enough for people to go and see. And if anyone's the screamer on this board, pal, it's not me.

    O-pa-pi? My ringpiece.

But something else that gets on my nerves is Kimutaku's Gatsby adverts, which imply that squirting on some useless deodorant feels like the simultaneous touch of six Playboy Playmates.

Fugumaster - just read your 10:16 post. Had I been in your shoes, my fellow traveller would have received a sight more than a disgusted look. He'd be feeding through a tube for the rest of his life.

Coughing, sneezing, snotting, sniffing, picking-the-nose-and examining it all get right on my wick. For a country that can elevate having a bath to the status of leisure pursuit, these people show a marked lack of elementary hygiene.

I have nothing whatever against young totty prettying themselves up aboard the vehicle though. I'd much rather watch that than some sweaty-suited, reeking old tosspot knuckle-deep in his own face.

Skip - nope: the second. First was Vincent Price, in "The Last Man on Earth". Chuck was second, in "The Omega Man", which is one of my favourite films ever. The recent Will Smith job was good, and the less said about "I am Omega" the better. But Mr. Heston did a fine job in Omega Man, one of many in his outstanding career. Touch of Evil was magnificent.

Aren't fertility festivals primarily held to pray for fertility? It may have been hijacked by high-risk minorities fir their agenda, but if it's a fertility festival it's surely meant to ask the Gods for fertility - of women and crops.

I have heard nothing about Dakota Fanning. She was very good in War of the Worlds the other year, though. She's probably not Sarge's type. He likes them becocked, and prone, next to nude. But someone who really gets on my wick is that fat bloke (Ishizuka?), whose job it is to be fat, and eat stuff and show how oishii it is. He does this by squinting his eyes into the narrowest of slits and slavering and getting right on my nerves.

I spent quite some time in this chap's bar when I lived in Kochi. He was extremely talented and had a twinkle in his eye for my ladyfriend. I wouldn't like to speculate on why this tragedy happened, but I would venture, having some knowledge of the man, that he would be the first to approve of people making a joke of sadness.
