It's, as predicted, all going for pear-shaped for the Israelis. As stated they will not achieve their objectives and simply radicalise more of the population. That's now happening in the west Bank, many who could not and would not relate to Hamas are now giving their support exclusively because of what Israel is doing in Gaza. Again, due to feeling they have a right to 'go where ever' and 'do whatever' they want the Israelis have made the situation worse. So, instead of undermining Hamas they have exposed the PA as lacking credibility and moved more people to support extremism, GREAT game plan aye? Way to go Israel. It's an exercise of gross negligent stupidity on the part of the Israeli government.

What always makes me shake my belief is those who never seem to ask, 'Hey, why DO those people behave the way they do? Do ya think they have a reason for it?'

    Duh.

My eyes opened wide with horrific expectation as I read the sentence, ...in the bathtub filled with but I soon slumbered back into inertia as I read water and not sand.

Muscles: You may well have read 'Plan D', maybe even beyond its opening, but you failed to put it into context; how it was implemented and how its implementation in turn affected the people it was directed against. It's like reading the Declaration of Independence in isolation and not acknowledging the who, what, why or when OR its, and here's the key, consequences. You're at best a laymen in the interpretation of the 'here and now' of people's lives. A poor historian which affects your understanding.

How are we expected to take you seriously with that 'Quickly... I did read it' and then give a snippet of a first opening paragraph with no RESPECTED interpretation or analysis?

...so the likes of Mad have their mythology, we on the other hand, have truth and the history of fact, event and players in the acts; it is written to be read. S0 we all should know that the Palestinians have a reasonable grievance. The hard line nationalist, fascists even, running the Israeli political / military machine should be removed and replaced with one which understand and accepts the truth and is prepared to treat their fellow Semites as what they are, brothers, mothers, sisters and more. You know: human.

Just now: A truce plan has been accepted. Told you the window for military action had closed.

Is the Palestinian-Israeli conflict rooted in mindless Arab anti-Semitism or Zionism’s insistence that a Jewish state must be created in Palestine, despite the fact that for over 1,300 years it had been overwhelmingly inhabited by Arabs, who in the twentieth century sought political independence in --and sovereignty over-- their homeland?

Lots of thinking going on by our resident experts AIN and Mad et al, of course they know more than an someone who was an Israeli soldier, is an historian and commentator, of COURSE they... don't. Plus, of course the piece has subjective bias hence is tempered with 'THINK', you obviously missed that part and jerked, knee that is. I believe the window to new military operations is closed because already Israel has announced it is suspending the bombing of specified areas in Gaza for three hours every day to allow the delivery of urgent humanitarian supplies. The pressure is on, Israel will comply.

You're sounding like a certain administration connecting al-Qaida to Iraq. They do not hold a position of authority within Hamas. That is sheer --dangerous-- speculation on your part; and they are not part of the political apparatus of the Palestinians but if they became that, if they filled the vacuum: could it get 'worse' damn right it could, for the Israelis that is. Anyway this is another sideshow --which you've proven you like to visit-- because you didn't address or answer that which was posed; that the Israelis may well remove a danger only to see it replaced with a much more aggressive and extreme one.

Israel may well remove Hamas - only to see the passing of a Palestinian administration --with sufficient stature to bring order-- vanish; then who moves in to the vacuum? The Israelis may well remove a danger only to see it replaced with a much more aggressive and extreme one: al-Qaida? As Colin Powell said, 'You break it. You own it'. The Israelis seem to be very much like the Americans here who, not so long ago, ran headlong into Iraq only to be exposed, left vulnerable, with no game plan what-so-ever. Not even for the second-half did they have an idea of what to do... and so we're still waiting for the end strategy. Israel, you will secure nothing but a more dangerous future by using military force.

JxJ; Not much thinking going on there then. Israel will not achieve it's objectives via military means.

Dominic Nutt, of the aid agency Save The Children, reporting rapidly deteriorating conditions: "They don't have any water most of the day, there is no electricity, they are freezing cold, the windows have to be left open to stop them smashing when the bombs fall. "Children are at risk from hypothermia, they are malnourished, there is not enough food, the situation is getting desperate."

World opinion and the JT survey shows that those who think Israel is going about this in the wrong way are by far in the majority; all you 'Israel does no wrong' are getting wet and as that which you pass blows back in your face. Enjoy.
