Perhaps she's been under threat not to reveal anything and those who issued the threat are now dead? Or perhaps the guilt has become to much and she'd like some solace before she dies?
Any way, later is better than never I suppose. It's not like Japan is the only country trying to deny such facts. As long as the investigation doesn't turn into one big cover up again.

I'm actually more wondering about the written text. As far as I can read a lot of them have written the same. Unless that depends on their school grade? In that case good luck to the younger classes compared to the elder classes, though that might explain why some of them only have written hiragana.

These deers are "holy", as in you aren't allowed to shoo them away, kill them or in any other way harm them, aren't they? What will they then do if they gets sick? Like scabies (Sarcoptes scabiei) for instant. I know that a lot of deers suffers from that in Denmark and if left untreated (in most cases that unfortunately means shooting them) it will spread explosively (also to other animals and humans) and causes a lot of suffering for the animals and in worst case scenarios: death.

Princess Mako's legs appears to be missing for some reason. Apart from that I actually like this picture. Sure it isn't breath taking beautiful or anything like that but it's a good family photo. I like to think that the family is as down to earth as this photo portraits them as.

I'm surprised they didn't just shoot the monkey on sight as I've seen them do with bear cubs. Poor animals. Though I'm no expert in monkey behavior this seems extremely strange. Normally animals don't attack without reason and to hide in a small dark enclosed space instead of a high tree or something similar? It doesn't add up, there's something missing. Also 117 reported attacks (how many haven't been reported?) in less than two months seems quite extensive.

Both parents should have the right to see their children, in most cases at least. I personally know a few situations (and there are many more) where the court decided that both parents had visitation right and in one of the cases the father verbally abused the child which led to severe depression, self doubt and angst which even now some 15 years later she still struggles with (and when they, the mother and the child, tried to forbid the father from seeing the child, the court ruled that it would be in the child's best interest to keep seeing him). Another case was were the father sometimes showed up at the appointed time and other times didn't, and the child didn't want to see him but again the court overruled that.
Then there's the cases with abusive mothers which there's a lot more of than you think. One of my friends grew up with a mother who would throw her down a staircase, strangle her with a telephone-cord and much much more. In this case the court decided that since the father was a reformed drunk the mother should have full custody and the father wasn't allowed to see them.
My point is that you can't say that one thing is better than the alternative, you have to be flexible and adjust with every case, with the child as the primary concern. The child is the looser in this and it's the parents decision to get a divorce, so whatever the outcome it should only cater to the child's wishes and what's good for it/them.

Actually I don't like going to most zoos. There's always some animal that aren't very popular and who's pen is suffering from it. Granted some places are worse than others and it sounds like Tennoji Zoo is among some of the really bad. Poor animals.

Honestly would some of you please give it a rest? Before you start criticizing the japanese society you'll need to know the context of the country. Understand me correct I don't say it's all right to slap or break the child's ribs just because he wouldn't tuck his shirt in. I don't condone violence, or corporal punishment, of any kind - especially not against children which should be protected by the adults. But Japan has used corporal punishment for several years it not something that is going to change over night. Aside from that I'm in doubt whether it's actually illegal for the teachers to use corporal punishment or not. I know from my japanese social science teacher - and her research of the japanese school system - that a lot of people in Japan think that some corporal punishment is actually needed in order to become good citizen.
