The people of Okinawa take the bow for preventing the new air field. The government in Tokyo wants to build the new airfield but have been blocked. So the status quo remains. I do not believe for a moment the Marine move to Guam is serious. More nonsense shoveled upon nonsense. I have heard Tokyo and Washington promises my entire life.

Just another lie by the Americans. Their goal is to build the new airfield and concede nothing. Means MCAS Futenma will have to remain open. The Marines will need their transport if they are to defend the Senkaku islands. America needs to refund the 80 billion yen to Japan.

sfjp330, these islands are Japanese. Korea put a garrison on the rocks while Japan placed a marker. Korea will never pull out. So if Japan places a base no matter how small will cement our claim. China attacking Japan will bring our leaders our of their daze. If America will not defend Japan, then it is time for all of them to leave. Japan would have to rearm and produce a deterrent force. Because if America will not honor its commitment to defend Japan even if it is a small set of islands, it could not be counted on to defend any part of Japan. China wants ALL of the Okinawa islands so its fleet would have unfiltered access to the Pacific. Who knows they might kill all of the Okinawa people after the invasion. What is 1.3 million people to China? Appeasement has not worked in the past and it will not work now or in the future. It would be an reenactment of Czechoslovakia. I can see President Obama holding a sign "Peace in our time".

sfjp330, it is not the same China. It was the old Imperial government and not even the Nationalist Government. So what should we do, meekly surrender to the Chinese? The battle will be over the South China seas and in it. As for the Chinese fleet, the Americans have scrapped or sunk better ships. One of their latest destroyers has first generation anti aircraft missiles. So many of their submarines and ships will be sitting ducks in battle. Their aircraft will be at the limits of their endurance and they just do not have the capacity or skill to launch a proper strike. CHuan, you are spreading more manure than someone working in horse barn. China is a long way from challenging Japan never mind the United States.

Japan can not follow the treaty, just managing to maintain the power grid. Following the treaty would mean power outages and reduced industry. The Earth is getting cooler instead of warmer, my now according to the first computer models both New York and Tokyo should be under water.

amerijap, they were killing their own in the millions up to the 1970,s. This movie is made to get people to hate Japanese. It turns them into nonhuman things and those are easy to kill. I was not a part of any war crimes nor any of my family. To me it is history and nothing more. Today's Japan is not the Empire of Japan and nobody in power today had anything to do with the war crimes. Everyone has ancestors who were barbarians and they are not accountable for their actions. The apologies have been made the reparations made to the national governments. Again this film was made to inflame Chinese anger and passion against Japanese Nationals.

yasukuni, If China gets the islands the next step is demanding the rest of the Okinawa prefecture. They will claim it since once upon a time the Ryukyu Kingdom was a tributary member of China. The small base will mean that China would have to fight for the island, aggression. It would give time for the US Marines to fly there in their helicopters. Missed this aspect before and once the Marines are in place China would have to attack American troops. Marines are also tough and combat tested. A small base will help them defend these islands. It is not aggression, these islands are now a part of Japan.

CHuan and smithinjapan it would mean war with Japan and the United States. Any invasion force would be spotted and intercepted. There will be 2 US aircraft carriers, their task forces and add the Japanese self defense force. A small base on these islands makes sense. They are part of Okinawa and part of Japan. The island is too small for any real size base and no threat to China. The battle will be a land and air battle. This is where the Marines on Okinawa could help, provided they are all sent. Again these are our islands! China trying to take them means WAR!

NetNinja, his name is Rudolph Joseph Rummel. His books and information is very interesting but I do not agree with him 100 percent. About the people who deny it, well it is called free speech. Germany has laws but they do it in secret. Being from Okinawa you do not have to tell me about the Japanese troops but both China and Korea are using it an an excuse. This film is going to inflame the Chinese population. It is inciting them to riot, my Yuri predication is next time the riots will kill people. Japan has made the apologies and has made reparations. If China can invade Japan they will kill us all. Japanese and Okinawa people, they have killed over 100 million people. This number is since their revolution in 1949. Yes that is China's plan for Japan, death. No apology will ever be good enough. It is not even worth trying and when the Japanese companies lose their investments it will be proof of my words.

tmarie, then Japan would have to pay all of Americas military families from WWII. Most got to their battle stations, their was return fire. Unlike the Atomic bomb victims they had a chance. If it would not of been for a single bomb, the Arizona would of been fixed and sent out quickly. The death toll would of been cut in half.

I thought the fired on it hitting in the conning tower and sinking it. The Americans have found a sub in the harbor entrance with damage to its conning tower. About the radar, thought their HQ on base said it was B-17's?

It is a recon satellite and not spy. It flies through space and that is not owned by China. No other country would recognize their claim to space. Second it is up there for all to see. Thus it is not a spy anything and if China wants to hide something, keep it out of view.
