herefornow, the Japanese DOW was suppose to be delivered before the attack. The Admiral was told they would be at war before the attack. The Admiral wanted to surprise the Americans to get the most damage and least causalities. Tokyo was to blame as always... herefornow, no country tells the other about their attack plans and I mean NOBODY! The navy was told the DOW was delivered. Give blame where blame is due. As for being a war criminal, there were so many rotten Army solders but remember not all of them were rotten. Many people in this forum blame ALL Japanese and some non Japanese for the war including infants. After the war many Japanese hung for their crimes. Why can you not drop it?

Strange after WWII there have been no delclarations of War from the United States. So the American attack on Iraq was a sneak attack, right? Funny how times change...

voiceofokinawa, yes I agree with you. Since I am not pro base am labeled as "anti-American". When I lived outside of Tokyo the Japanese said I might as well be an American. They said so many hateful things. I understand why the Americans want to stay on Okinawa and I would be a different person if they were not in my life. My mentor when in high school was a "base person". First he was a US Marine, base employee and then private enterprise. Look the SOFA needs to be revised, if a part of a plane fell on my house the US military can take control of it as long as it is "necessary" to protect secrets. There are too many bases on Okinawa that do not protect Okinawa. Kadena AFB, White Beach and Tori Station are enough. Then a road or 2 needs to be cut through Kadena like Camp Zama to help traffic congestion. The Americans need to give more, not less. I know you love your free bases but they come at a cost to the Okinawa people.

The UK should leave the EU and strengthen its ties to the Americans and Japanese. I also think NATO has outlived its usefulness. The Continental Europeans need to carry their own weight. With their need for Russian gas they are already under the Bears influence. Their is no need for an invasion, all they have to do is turn off the gas. The UK would be better off without them and their STUPID rules.

American politics is strange, I sit back and eat pop corn. Not sure I would vote for any of them. Pointing the finger at each other when things go wrong. Only working for their agenda and not working with the other side since it would help them in the elections. They are a bunch of self serving deleted and not sure if McCain could of done better. It is easy to point the finger but hard to actually do something.

Fadamor, not sure if 24 hours would of been enough. They were not expecting an attack and even the Ward submarine attack did not wake them up. Anyhow the war was done oh 66 plus years ago. The people in it are either dead or in nursing homes. My mum took me out to the wood shed for some of my posts. She being right and reminding me of what the Japanese troops were really like. The Japanese never apologized to us and what they did was very very bad. So today you have this Japanese minister feels "deep emotion" about Pearl Harbor, am positive it was indigestion caused by the consumption of NATTO and whale meat.

Ok who put the minus on my last remark? Let me be more clear the government in Tokyo was responsible for war. While the Americans might have provoked them there were other paths to follow. Tojo and his minions use it as an excuse and to tighten their grip on power.

I sometimes think about the men and women at Pearl Harbor, they did not want to go to war. The politicians were what started the war. Think about the dead and wounded and the fact they did not get a chance to live their lives. The stuff about the twin nukes is not relevant to this discussion. I do not think that most of the people killed would of asked for innocent people to die to "avenge" them. Lets think about the men and women who gave their last measure defending their country.

Suppose it is late, though the Americans never apologized for putting my family in a concentration camp for 2 years. The Americans did not do this to the Germans or Japanese. As for being critical of Japan, it discourages them from doing more.

globalwatcher, am agreeing with you on this issue and yes Japans arrogance is showing. Tokyo government only thinks about themselves. So adding contaminated whale meat to radioactive food is sauce just more proof. I am going to have and give this more thought.

Mercury poisoning is a real danger and I think the government suppresses the health data to support whaling. So the supporters of hunting whales in a sanctuary are going to court to be able to keep violating the whaling agreement and sanctuary. What a beautiful example of doublethink.

Well I would support a traditional hunt using traditional boats and spears etc. Getting no help from modern equipment. As for being anti Japanese, oh Please! It is anti whaling and is not a reflection of Japanese people. The whalers are of Japanese nationality and supported by the Tokyo government but they are not the will of the Japanese people. As for this lawsuit She Sheppard should sue in world court because Japan is breaking its agreement. The Whales are suppose to be studied not killed for food.
