Well guess that is nice that H Clinton considers Japan an important ally. As for language Japanese is not my first language as well and it is also not English. When I started school, my teacher said my writing looked like chicken tracks. Back on subject America is important to Japan and not only defense. General MacArthur was the American who set the standard for relations at the end of the war. He was Japans last Shogun and one of the architects of modern Japan.

BlueWitch, I could not agree with you more. There needs to be a single standard, not one for Japanese people, Korean people, American people .... A tragedy should not be used to forward political agenda for any group. Hope the Korean people keep things in perspective. These are 2 criminals in a pact of good people. Do not punish the group for the actions of the few.

Done a lot of thinking about this and have concluded rape happens in all socialites. You have 40k plus Americans and 2 of them commit this horrible crime. IF guilty the soldiers should pay the same penalty as anyone else in South Korea. About the rape of the Okinawan girl, the criminals paid the penalty and were deported from Japan. Not to make light of their crime not long after a pair of Japanese men from the "home" islands kidnapped, raped and killed an Okinawa girl. No one ever demonstrated against mainland men. So if the South wants to use this as an excuse to eject the Americans, am sure they would leave.

President Lee needs to be reelected and thus will be insulting. Suppose he will go int nationalist pap and the comfort women and the rocks. He wants to show the Korean people he can stand up to the new evil Japanese PM. Bashing Japan means more votes, this might as well be considered a reelection event for Lee. If I was PM would not bother to meet Lee. Would make him come to me and maybe I would see him.

Makes no difference to me, I would probably fly UAL to Aussie land. The airline of "seasoned" flight attendants. Anyhow I have heard horror stories about the service on Qantas. Suppose the service is even worse now.

just-a-guy, so South Korea is now an ally of China? What about your "friends" the Americans. Who lost over 50,000 of their troops defending your nation? Last time I was in Seoul, they were burning the American flag again. Also the militants have been known to beat up and sometimes kill American troops. Sometimes while they are jogging in the morning. My last word, South Korea is going to have and stop being so 2 faced. Who's side are you on? The "comfort women" need to forgive the Japanese like the people of Okinawa have forgiven the Americans and Japanese. It is this or the hatred will consume the south.

Spidapig24, my ancestors were farmers and fishermen. Those that served were in construction of defenses on Okinawa. I was taught in a school under the US administration of Okinawa. Oh do not know what Japanese were or taught today. Once again I am NOT Japanese but Okinawan. My ancestors did nothing against Korea. Nobody paid the women of Okinawa who got raped by both sides. Again Korea should stop their worship of the past and look toward the future. Time for them to forgive those who trespassed against them.

China and Russia do have blood on their hands. Russia has killed 61,000,000 with 43,000,000 by Stalin alone. China has killed 110,000,000 from 1900 to 1987. What is the small numbers of deaths compared to the leaders in killing people?

What surprises me is this is news. Who would want to return to the North and torture? The North should open imigration to the south. Lots of fewer mouths to feed or better yet do to the south what Cuba did in 1980 to America.

Spidapig24, you prove my case. What I wrote about with the WWII countries is true. You can check the facts, saying the truth is not libel. So I have turned around in the now and am facing the future. People like you can not forgive the past and are doomed to repeat it. Like Korea, they will bring up the past forever. They teach their children to hate Japanese now even though it was our ancestors. Oh I never said the WWII Japanese were peace loving. What has happened is an event in my life has shifted my focus from the past to the future.

Spidapig24, been quieting down my critical America writing. The Neo Russian Empire is something else. Once Putin is President of Russia again, there is no doubt it has become a dictatorship. We need to concentrate on the present leading into the future. It is time to write a wonderful future and I hold out my hand to my Korean cousins. Again the past is done and the future is ours to make.
