Would not be surprised if Alan Joyce made up the threat himself. He wants to get as much money out of Qantas and will walk away from a ruined company. Fight on my union brothers and sisters! Save your airline and your jobs. Alan Joyce is only looking after himself the selfish beepard!

Isolating North Korea has worked so well over these 58 years. Another winning plan from the people who also brought us the isolating of Cuba. All of these plans just hurt the common people and make the government more radical. Sort of like pouring petrol on a burning fire. How long must Japan be tied to a strategy that does not work?

John Becker, just look at the picture. How fast are they going and did he get hit bu another bike. Even if they missed him his body is going to hit the road at 100 or more km per hour. Just looking at the picture gives me the creeps. Do you not feel for the riders who put themselves in danger for your entertainment?

A burger once and a while is no harm to most people. I do miss the Wendys in Music City on gate 2 street in Okinawa. It was easy to get a quick lunch after going to the Ryukyu bank across the street.

Well the ban on machines will have no lasting effect. None at all really as the youngsters will just get their supply by other means. Banning all smoking sounds nice but will just create another criminal class and fill up the jails. This measure is so simple minded as to be laughable. Great pap for reelection bids, a great inconvenience for adult smokers. So what will happen is drunk smokers driving from the pubs/bars to the stores for their smokes.

troyinjapan, you can not get away from the bases. With the exception of the south most part of Okinawa, there is a base close to you. The bases restrict traffic flow and make emergency services go longer. The amount of land taken as a percentage is much larger than anywhere else in Japan. So it it not surprising a "anti base" governor and legislature is elected. The newest in one year tenure PM's is not going to convince him to sign the construction permits. So he might as well save the trip. About the Okinawa prefecture spoiling the plans of the national government? It is the law of the land and if they do not like it would have to change the law. However that is not going to happen since the poll watchers do not have the spine to do it.

Lieberman2012, since I have moved could care less if they remain open. I just am trying to express the views of my Okinawa friends. troyinjapan, unlike the mainland there is no place in Okinawa that is not impacted by the bases one way or another. So the PM comes down to Okinawa to persuade the Okinawa Governor to sign the permit. Again it will not happen and their will be the devil to pay if they change the law. If the people really supported the bases a pro base governor would of been elected.

Third time, Japan needs to make friends and mend fences. South Korea will never forgive us. Time to get out of the south's war. Let him go, what is the PM so afraid of, peace?

The PM needs to forget the polls and do the right thing.

Sounds like a good ideal to me. He should visit the North Korea. The reason the North faction of Korea is Japan's foe is because of the South faction. South Korea does not like Japan so why should we help them? We have renounced war, lets become neutral in the Korean civil war.

Aaron Okoro, one time the MP,s tried to arrest a pair of Marines for fighting. So they used pepper spray and sort of got most of gate 2 street around Music City. Many civilians were affected by this action. The MP's do not bother me but I do not hang out in the bars. I am trying for people to understand the Okinawa point of view. I do think the MP's need to be escorted at all times by members of the Prefecture police while off base and especially when do anything that is remotely police functions. Sorry for getting off topic but the PM's of Japan come down to Okinawa and talk down to the local politicians. They will never get anywhere with their superior attitude and condescending ways.

Aaron Okoro, they should stay on the bases and let the local police arrest the sofa people. It is one way they can escape back to base. As I wrote there are other issues and the PM is wasting his time.

They should all go on strike and shut down the airline for a bit. The management needs to taught some respect for the true part of the airline that allows it to operate. This is of course the employees. Down with the dirty scabs.

These things happen elevator and opposite rudder. The plane will come right out of the roll. The co pilot should not be punished but given more training and his tale repeated to others so it will not happen again.

Anyway the meeting will not be "productive", the governor of Okinawa wants changes in the SOFA. The American MP's should not have law enforcement powers off post. This is a violation of our sovereignty. This issue is more than just a new airfield.

He needs to shut his mouth and do not meet with the press or his accusers. He needs to take up something productive like gardening. He could then spread it without endangering his freedom.
