Not a very big protest. Sort of reminds me of an anti-base protest in Naha. They had a hard time taking pictures since there were so few "protesters". The number was less than a dozen, more reporters showed up.

globalwatcher, I am referring to the extra fare people are paying to fly out of Haneda. Where I go in Tokyo makes it maybe 15 minutes closer. Then one would have to take the monorail. Well time will tell about the 787. As I said it will be a very long time before I get a chance to fly in one. For me it is "seasoned" flight attendants and UAL 747 or 777.

WilliB, it is not made of structural plastic. True nothing like the dreamliner has been made before. It may still have unexpected problems but so do the older jets. When the TWA 747-100 went down out of JFK, it was from a "new" problem even though it had been in service for 30 years. My advice for you is not to fly in it. This should be easy to do, very easy. Oh the Haneda flights really make me laugh. People are willing to spend thousand of dollars extra for these tickets. It makes no sense.

just-a-guy, people like you are the reason Japan has to keep our defenses tight. It is possible that the rulers of the Peoples Republic of China and Russia will have the same ideals. Attacking the air defenses is usually considered the first step toward a surprise attack using atomics. Take out the early warning sats and the Americans would be forced to go to the highest level of alert (DEFCON 1). It is like pulling a weapon, putting a round in the chamber, aiming and squeezing the trigger but not shooting. Konsta, the cold war is not over since both China and Russia are once again threatening the free world. Sometimes I think it is only a question of time. The leaders of China and Russia are not sane men. They respect only one thing, STRENGTH.

&5% of the population or the poll answers are stupid. What is Japan going to replace it with? Next the increase from pollution will kill a lot more than this accident.

beangry, right wing Japanese Nationalists blah, Japan does not have the capability to do offensive action against anyone. However as I write this, Chinese and Russian IRBM's sit waiting for launch orders for objectives within Japan. During the height of the cold war, I use to wonder if today we were all going to die. Depending on the launch sequence we are from 15 minutes to 45 minutes before the warheads arrive. People talk about missiles but it is really just the warheads. Korea unlike Japan does have bombers and these are a threat to Japan. About China not being a threat, I can not get the picture of all of those Chinese yelling "death to Japanese". Am happy these days I will not be one of the first to know about a sneak Chinese and or Russian attack.

So it goes with corporate greed, double the profit and it is still not enough. Companies are responsible to their employees as well as the stockholders. These people will sell their families out just for some more money. The question is how much profit is enough? Also what happens when ALL of the jobs in a country are eliminated through corporate GREED?

What you all forget is the bulls are doomed from the start. They are going to die and in a bloody painful way. The bulls die in terror, it should go away in the entire Spanish nation and world.

13akio13, it is no trick to shoot down a sat in a stable orbit. The trick is to hit one that is maneuvering and or has defenses. Second no Jet today flies at mach 3.5 (think the blackbird might have) at least for long and none at 18,000 mph. The reason for the new Jets is so Japan can defend herself from China, North Korea and Russia. All three are foes and regularly threaten Japan.

USNinJapan2, understand what you are saying but the Maritime SDF is a defense only force. About the ships being spotless it is traditional. If you want to see ships that never leave harbor, that is the majority of the Russian Navy. They also are rusting at their moorings.

Konsta, from Japan to China "you can draw when ready partner". I get tired from all of the threats againat Japan from China. Since we in Japan are peace loving and can not start any war, it is up to China to do it or Ferme ta bouche!, tais-toi!, la ferme!.

Novenachama, how can Japan do nothing? China is developing new aircraft, Japan has to face the threat from China, North Korea and Russia. Russia has thrown away democracy as the next president election for Russia will be Putin, Putin or perhaps Putin. The opposition is not even allowed to run or meet in Russia. He has just harassed the only possible person to beat him. No the threat is out there, Japan has no other recourse or beg the Americans for more American military.

NetNinja, well one never knows about these things. Strange things happen with new cars as well. Then again the latest generation of military aircraft are made like this. Also it got a lot more testing than the first jets the comets. Those were the ones that were crashing due to work hardening of the skin and structure. Not much chance for me to fly them in the future, my flights are mostly between the states and Japan. So it will be the UAL 777 for me or 747. You do understand that ANA is way overrated. My last trip was in "premium Economy", like sure asked for a scotch and was told they had none. Got a gin and tonic, some "premium" service :p

He sure has aged! Coming up on 3 years and it looks like he has aged over 10 better yet 15 years. Mine says he will never vote for him, I can not vote :p Think his scare tactics will not work. If anything the press is making things worse. They spread scare and wonder why the people will not spend?

just-a-guy, the Americans did it with a modified pac III missile and Japan has these missiles. If China can do it, Japan can do it as well. Think of the satellite as a reconnaissance bird. It is there to detect dangers and by itself is peaceful.

ubikwit, Putin has eliminated any opposition to him becoming President. That is any serious threat, thus it will not be a fair election. Might as well declare him the winner without election. The Soviets had meaningless elections as well. Shows things have not changed, except a name change and the slave states becoming independent. Oh FYI, the living conditions in the Soviet Union stank and instead of exporting food had to import it. Lovely stores with empty shelves.
