BessonovYan, same junk weapons system. The Chinese air defenses will be gone within 24 hours. Only their long range radar will be spared. There is a reason for this but no China would do no better. China has the advantage of a large ground force but is it really an advantage? Mass wave attacks would be the modern bansai attacks. China has a long way to come, its fleet will be on the bottom within days, it is a sick joke like q carrier without planes.

Go get them! The chase is the best part and China and Russia show they are fair weather friends. They were Gadhafi’s friends. They could not prevent NATO from taking him out and they do not rescue him in his time of need.

Kersey23, am not a brown nose, so not being 100 percent in line with American policy is "extremist"? Again what can the government do? It is private property n freedom of religion is part of our constitution. While they are in the government they are also people. It would be illegal to prevent them from practicing their religion. China does not believe this, they cracked down on an exercise group. There are no freedoms in China, thus their reaction to our new PM.

BessonovYan, China's Navy is or base on Soviet junk. All around the world the Soviet junk is being destroyed. Latest case in point Libya. The Americans laid waste to their air defense and NATO did the rest. Why would you expect China to do better with the same defense systems? Having the information is one thing using it is yet another, like the imitation Chinese bullet trains. They lack the basic safety systems. Copies are just copies and the Chinese models are lacking.

So it starts, the LDP people can just be obstructionists on the progress of Japan. They also know how to make both China and Korea angry. Maybe we should award them the silver foot in mouth award?

oginome, Japan is not the south's tool to beat up the north, Normal relations will not make it harder for the south to defend themselves. I really doubt the north could afford to buy much from Japan. The Abductions were sad but we must move forward. Normal relations is the goal it will take effort and time to achieve. Oh how is wishing normal relations "right wing"? Oh tell me how punishing the north is leading to sweeping change within their country? If anything punishing the north makes them even more desperate.

What happens within Korea is no concern to Japan. It is an internal conflict and Japan should become neutral by not favoring either side. So the South will get mad, ah big deal. Have seen the anti Japanese demonstrations and know they are sanctified by the government of south. What has the North done to hurt Japan? We are not the south's tool to hurt the north, get use to it. Japan not being a foe will leave the north with two enemies. Perhaps they might be under less pressure to be aggressive. Sorry Japan has to do what is in our bests interests and not South Korea. Normalizing relations with the north is a neutral act, supporting the south in their civil war with their war with the north is a hostile act. You have twisted the truth.

BessonovYan, if the Americans would not defend Japan, we would have to do it ourselves. A deterrent force of some sort. Japan would have to launch on warning. While we could chase down their boomers it would take time. 15 to 20 minutes and maybe a a decision time of 5 to 10 minutes, am not sure. While the Chinese navy is a joke their missiles are not a joke unlike North Korea. Today Japan would reduce the Chinese navy in short order. It would be a hunt of sorts, the Maritime SDF is a specialist in hunting subs. Withing a few hours our friends the Americans will be with us. I have no doubt in my mind about this fact.

oginome, what a distorted view, the Korea civil war is directly the fault of the Americans and Russians split Korea into north and south. The actual war is directly the fault of China and Russia but having their man start it. Going back to North Korea, it is not the job of Japan to protect the south. Better relations with the north will reap nothing but benefits. Not sure which one hates Japan more north or south? The big question is will America risk its own cities by retaliating against China or Russia? Well it is off topic, my point is the north is not a threat against Japan. Good relations will prove a benefit to both countries.

Japan should normalize relations with North Korea. Stop embargoes and have free trade. While the abductions were a bad thing, the Chinese and Russians have done worse. Japan needs to stay out of the Korean civil war. What have they done that is so much worse than the others? Do I her atomic weapons? Well China and Russia both have them targeted at Japan. We do business with them and yes I hear "rouge" state. It forces the north to be even closer to China. All our efforts do is to make their alliance even stronger. It is time we go from a proven losing policy to a winning one.

Am not worried about the Chinese Navy, they should have a "sink me" sign on them. Old Soviet junk or ships based on it are just not a threat.

Kersey23, an not on a extreme side. The Chinese reaction is his comments about Yasukuni. I see it as a freedom of religion issue. There is nothing the government can do about it. The priests there enshrined the class A war criminals. Their view is their souls are cleansed after death. This would never happen in Germany since they do not believe this. My view is China is testing our new PM. They will use every cheap trick to slander him. Looking at the article, there is nothing our new PM can do to please the Peoples Republic of China. He has been judged "right wing" and is going to be attacked.

The odds of cancer are higher staying and thus the risk of a early death are higher. However people have killed themselves being homeless and helpless. These people would still be alive if they had stayed. The elderly people were in no danger from radiation, moving them into a cold damp shelter killed them. So you have a 53 year old who wants to remain despite the risks, just how high are the risks? 2 3 4 5 times? How long does it take to get cancer? So in reality other than for kids or the young evacuating people to unsafe shelters has killed and caused them more miserly than staying. Looking at the doses I say it is fear mongering by the government.

Kersey23, so did the Koreans. They paid tax as well to the Imperial government. They rewrote history as well as so the Chinese. Again China's reaction is to keep the "heat" of hate alive within China and as many other countries as possible. One day they will come for Japan and until that day need to keep the hatred alive.

paulinusa, the best he could hope for is temporary housing. There are still people in the shelters, given the choice I would remain in my home. Think of all of those who killed themselves. Being homeless and hopeless is much more dangerous than the radiation. TEPCO offers 56000 yen, how can they sleep at night?
