Gingrich is a liar and was a critic of Ronald Regan. You should read some of his stuff from the 80's. Second his campaign has admitted to Gingrich saying a lie at the debates. There is nobody that will come forward to call his second wife a liar. He will pull his "pin" soon and be out of the election. The only question is if this will be in the primaries or general election. Clearly he is the most dangerous person to the American Republican party. He asked the question once "why people take an instant dislike to him", Senator Dole replied "it saves time".

zichi, so Japan will lose even more jobs and factories. Without a dependable power supply more and more plants will be moved to China and India. The rich will still be rich but everyone else will be poor. Now what would happen if Japan loses its oil supply from the gulf? Russia will sell its oil to China and not Japan. So tell me what would happen? For me and my family it will be ok, Okinawa generates its electric from coal and some wind power. The USA still operates its plants and its power grid is not in danger. So what happens when Japan is facing a large shortfall in electric? There will be a shortfall and some of my friends in Kanagawa are still unemployed. The answer some say is to darken Pachinco pallors and shut down vending machines, pathetic.

People have been scared STUPID by this accident. Suppose it has to do with the evil radiation. People buying radiation detectors looking for it in their food and homes. How many people have been killed by the radiation? Then compare it to people dying from respiratory illness, traffic accidents and suicide. While it is sad people get killed or sick, why don't we pay more attention to the other deaths? The government and nuclear industry need to learn from this accident and prevent it was happening again. The scientists need to study low levels of radiation and what are the effects on the human body. My knowledge of this is from a military perspective. If I remember right people start getting sick at 50 rems, start dying at 200 rems and almost 100 percent by 1000 rems. If I understand it there is .1 Millisievert per rem. So by cold war standards it would take 500 of them in a short period of time to start showing illness.
I do agree the nuclear industry needs to be better regulated. Until we can replace the plants they need to stay online. Oil, gas and coal kill people as well. Next time you fly out of Handea on a "clear" day, take a look towards the ground and you will see a brown blanket of pollution covering the Kanto area. You are breathing that and it is TOXIC. Though most people do not worry about that. The press has scared people STUPID and if studied more people died in the evacuation than the threat. My question is what is the actual threat?

Utrack, there is no such thing as a lack of radiation. They are using statistics and not hard facts. The lack of radiation is a fact, do you know how much radiation is produced by a 1 megaton bomb ground burst?Japan does not have the luxury of not running them. Remember pollution kills people as well.

Ultrack, as long as Japan can get fuel for them. Really the plants should be looked at and those that can be restarted. My suggestion is any town that does not want the nuke restarted be placed on a list. Not only should they be charged more but the first to lose their power in a shortage. Really until there is a proper replacement they have to be used. Destroying the economy of Japan for paranoia is baka.

No matter what Japan does, the plants need to be brought back online. The old ones can be shut down but closing them all is insanity. There is no way to prove absolute safety. Without enough electric, might as well complete the deindustrialization of Japan. Japan can be a 3rd world country again.

@ Americanforeigner, Japanese TV shows are lame compared to American television. The way they horse about with dead bodies on some of them. Look youngster, good makeup huh? you can see the corpses throat was slashed. The things they do on some of the others. tamanegi, please tell me about all of the bad things in Japan. How is living in America better? Oh there is no such thing as "the American culture".

Why does it bother the government of the Republic of Korea that Japan claims these rocks? They have full control over them. Do they think Japan will invade them? Does Korea view Japan as a foe? Does Korea want Japan to become a foe with all that comes with it?

Am shocked to hear the views on some of the American men. Do you control your wife's lives as well? Tell them who they can or can not talk to? Guys you are headed for divorce, gee no wonder some Japanese women prohibit all contact by their ex husbands. My question is why did you move to Japan, marry a Japanese women but detest all things Japanese? Oklahoma is strange to me but most of the people are very kind. True there is one in every crowd but the Okies do not put up with their nonsense. You are in Japan now and nobody expects you to conform to every local custom but you need to show others respect to receive it.

Oh I have had a reverse experience adjusting to America. It feels odd to have someone apologize for getting within 3 feet of me. The cab doors do not open or close. The parking lots are HUGH though a lot of the cars and trucks are large as well. Everything is so CHEAP! Oh and lastly getting use to being the "gaijin" or foreigner. They do not separate their trash in the states. It is a strange land...

Marion Wm Steele, we were punished by the Americans. The vast majority can not tell the difference between us and our northern cousins. So the US won the war. They won the war in Iraqi but have been kicked out 9 years after "mission accomplished". Being born a second class person in an American occupied Okinawa damaged my development as a person. Even today Americans on Okinawa have more "rights" than the local population. Again some starch collar type come down from Tokyo and says to his inferiors to accept THEIR plan. He might as well stayed in Tokyo.

American economics, spend 215,000,000 to save 100,000,000. No wonder America's economy is in the crapper.

Gingrich is the perfect example of the Right wing male hypocrite. Talks the talk but his past shows his true nature. Wonders if he is in an open marriage now? Lose morals and a liar, he is something else. Supporters of him are using doublething to the extreme.

sfip330, you miss my point. The corvette engine is almost twice the size. Now add solid axles, my guy has movable axles. The only reason the Corvette is still produced is the corvette otaku. My point is GM is not an intervened auto company. It is producing the same old cars and trucks year after year. About the 45k Corvette? You must be joking, it is more like 85k and the stupid thing did not even have a navi.

Just wait for these "sodai-gomi" cars and trucks to get a year or two old. Then they will show their true natures and from the dealer "sorry, that is not covered by warranty". Today's GM is not much different than the GM of the 1960,s. True the body is a bit better but the electrical is still brutal. My 86.5 Supra is more advance than a new corvette. Compare the features and tell me I am wrong. One item "lifting rods", my guy has twin overhead cams and 24 valves vs 16. Oh the rods have a habit of going through the engine block when pressed too hard or when old. The only reason the general public "baka" are buying the GM sodai-gomi is propaganda. Tell me one improvement since the bailout.

VicMOsaka, you cheapen the word "terrorists". So when a suicide bomber lets loose a truck bomb in the middle of a crowd killing hundreds, what does that make him? So far restraint has been done by both sides. If either side had wanted to use deadly force it would of been done by now. So that leaves us with the equivalent of a fist fight in the South Pacific, oh sorry Indian Ocean. One side claims the power of government, even though this is NOT their territorial waters. The other the power of their conscious. Remember just because something is "legal" does not make it right. BTW, International "law" is not set in stone. Japan bribed a number of nations to make it "legal".
