unreconstructed, so much for America helping its friends. If Obama lets the Argentinians invade the Falklands, it would mean that Japans treaty with them is garbage. Well the UK does possess nukes. America is going to allow a slaughter to take place to placate its "friends" in South America.

As far as know there have NEVER been any Argentinian people on the islands. They were uninhabited and settled by the UK. In fact if Argentina took the islands they would be the occupying power. As for the ships the UK should let their ships be under the UK flag. Second if the UK needs help defending the islands the USA should send 3 or 4 Aircraft battle groups to defend them. The Americans used force to change out one set of thugs for another even worse set. It is like whose side are you on?

Calling Sea Shepard "terrorists" cheapens the word. Real terrorists would attach limpet mines on the ships. When then board the would do so with AK-47's in their hands instead of holding their hands up. Thus is why I call them "Eco-pests" True the "Research" fleet could shoot them with rifles but that would be like a home owner shooting people throwing eggs at his/her house. Instead of hocks and poles the "Research" fleet should return the favor and spray down the small boats with liquid stink. See how the Sea Shepard people like it. I do not like hunting whales and the "Research" fleet needs to use a measured response. The "international laws" are dated. Mostly done during the days of sailing ships. There needs to be an international convention to revise them. This includes the punishment of coward Captains and crew.

Yawns! Why is this news? So she does not want to live in America. You agreed to live in America and now it looks like an excuse to divorce. What happened to your wedding vows?

tmarie, I complain about the government in Tokyo all of the time. Losing 10 percent of our oil supply is a bad thing. If America stops the flow of oil from Iran it will be worse.

Newt Gingrich is a disgrace to himself, the GOP and the United States. He is going to hand the election to President Obama for his petty revenge.

America needs to bring them all home from Europe. Let the EU take care of itself and who is a threat to them? The Soviet Union is gone and it is a long way from Germany to Russia. The USA can partipitate in NATO but it is up to them to do the protection. A good point is this will make the Russians feel less nervous.

There is no such thing as a lack of radiation. The amount of radiation exposure to drop him dead would kill a lot more than just him. I was taught to think of radiation in REMS. So how many REMS per hour is it producing? People think of the area around Fukushima as "hot", yet it is nothing in relation to a nuke war.

m5c32, I do not think it will even slow them down. However the people of Iran will suffer. If anything it will consoudate power for the current government.

tmarie, I do not doubt you about the SDF. They will sit around with their thumbs up their censored. A lack of initiative is a common problem in Japan. It is always check and check again to see if they can get "permission" to do something or just waiting around for orders. US Marines on the other hand do not suffer from this issue. My husband knows me and I do not hate Americans or the troops. He says I have an "inferiority complex", it must be because I grew up as a second class person. Anyhow not sure how Japan will survive with a 10 percent shortage nevermind a possible 90 percent shortfall. Where will Japan get the needed engery? Japan only produces 10 percent of its oil needs. They can bring up all of the nuke plants but it would help somewhat in electric but there would not be enough oil for basic transportation. Will America help with oil from Alaska? There will be no oil from Russia and any oil from Indonesia would be expensive, perhaps $300 a barrel.

Donald Taylor, American Marines are better than terroists and compairing them to the Taiban is not right. Once you accept the fact that if they can do something wrong than it gives me the right to do wrong. A people or country lose the moral ground and become thugs and terroists. This was the action of a few bad Marines. I asked my guy and he thinks they violated artiles 92 and 134 of the UCMJ. The Geneva Convention prohibits the desecration of bodies of people killed in war. US Marines are good people and this action stains their good reputation. Know a lot of the gentle readers think I am anti USA but it is not true. I stand behind the Marines on this issue. I read that the Secatary of Defense is doing a full investigation and that maybe 2 of the thugs have been indentified. I do not expect for it to take long. The US Government is going to destroy the lives of these 4 thugs and perhaps murders. Jail time and an dishonorable discharge will be a lesson to other potential thugs.

oginome suppose it is human nature that there are always a few bad ones. The good thing is this is happening less and less as time goes on. My question is "how did they end up dead?" With the low moral values they are showing it is very possible they were murdered for no reason.

oginome, I tend to be a bit hard on Americans. Then again I expect better from them. What people forget is it is not just Japan that has been asked to do without Iranian oil. They export 2.4 million barrels of oil per day. That is 5 percent of world production. It is not just Japan that will feel the pinch. There is the EU, India, South Korea and other countries. Now Nigeria is going to go offline with another 2 million barrels per day. So tell me what plan do the Americans have except higher oil prices $150 to $200 a barrel? This will hurt them as well. MeanRingo, you are a funny man. How about all of the Americans driving around in their big trucks and SUV's?

USNinJapan2, yes very well said. There is always a very small group of people who do bad things. I prefer to think of the Marines handing out aid like in Operation Tomodashi. The vast majority of the US troops are good people. I am positive they will be caught and prosecuted.

If America wants Japan to stop buying Iranian oil that is fine. However they are going to have and help find another source of oil. Japan is in a crisis, the tsunami and earthquake are still being felt. Without enough oil the economy will fail faster. So what is America going to do to help?

tmarie, big deal the American troops went only into the safe areas. As for their "help" the Japanese government is building a new hospital and lots of large American type housing in Okinawa for them. We could be building this in the effected areas. If Iran cuts off all of the oil we are screwed! So in the short term how does Japan replace 10 percent of its oil needs? I would call for strict rationing and yes Americans that would affect you on the bases. If you think the economy is bad now, just wait. The worse and even worse is just around the corner.
