What is this hang up with nudity? Suppose it is ok to show violence especially against women but the sight of bare flesh is offensive.

Save TEPCO by giving them trillions in yen but the average person is just out of luck. The government is spineless and only only caters to the needs of the rich and their American masters.

Just disgusting! The Americans claim the high moral ground but these incidents keep happening. Then there is the bullying in their forces. This comes from the American position of "might makes right".

This is going to hurt Japan, the Americans DEMAND so much from my country. Now they demand we destroy our economy to further their war goals. Will the Americans help us in our time of need? Not a chance! They will gloat about their American superiority and they are blind.

The government and society need to do more. This is twice the tsunami deaths year after year. Something needs to be done to help them. There needs to be places these people can go and get help.

tkoind2, Japan can only save so much. Coal is available in Japan and new plants can be made to make less pollution. However as long as the majority of the plants are offline there will be a increase and not decrease in consumption. So how will Japan make up the difference. Rolling blackouts a part of "normal life"? Rationing gasoline to so many liters per licensed driver per week? Of course we could look to the past for inspiration.

The Zen masters knew about the impermanence of all earthly things and the inexhaustible beauty of nature. The 12th century philosopher Kamo no Chomei once advised that "If you have to go anywhere, go on your own feet. It may be trying, but not so much so as the bother of horses and carriages. Everyone with a body has two servants, his hands and feet, and they will serve his will exactly.”

Japan should respect other countries rules and regulations. The Australian EEZ extends oh 200 nm from its shores? If Japan does not do this why should any country respect its EEZ? The Whaling fleet is not welcome in Australian waters. Since they are not commercial ships but run by the government, they have no "right" to "transit". Second that ship is harassing another ship and not doing a transit. Thus by following the Sea Sheppard they are engaged in Whaling activities.

Smithinjapan, if Japan stops all oil import from Iran will they help? Perhaps Canada can build the pipeline Obama does not want to the Pacific coast. That one oilfield could produce 1/2 of Japans needs. Then Japan will be much less reliant on middle east oil.

Japan needs to reopen its coal mines. Then if needed build new plants or convert oil plants to coal. Second mandatory reduction of energy usage. If you want more than your share, you would have to make it yourself through solar. Japanese need to walk more, drive their cars less, drive smaller cars. There will be painful choices, the too too large American vehicles will need to be deregistered, exported or junked. Same with all of the others as well. Losing 9 percent of our oil imports will hurt but to minimized the impact the government needs to have a plan now. Not after it happens but NOW!

Once the oil slows down most people will be begging to start the nukes. There would just not be enough oil to keep all of the conventional ones in operation. Even with this there will be oil shortages, gasoline rationing. The people of Japan will just have to make due with less.

GW, I hate the ideal of my tax money supporting the slaughter of whales. I call them "eco-pests" because they are more of a nuisance than a actual threat. A group of terrorists would of boarded and have used deadly force upon the crew. They did good by turning them over to the Aussies.

Never have had much problems with the cabin crew. True I avoid Delta at all costs but United has gone downhill with the merger with Continental. Will fly back to my home on ANA, the service is well so so. Maybe I can get some scotch on this fight vs Victory Gin.

Best thing to do is have the 3 pay for all of the expenses. The expense of having the 3 in a berthing. Then add the cost of the customs cutter. The eco-pests will learn a lesson.

So is the security ship harassing the eco pests in Australian waters? An armed ship not part of any navy. Not under naval discipline, sort of like a privateer. What gives Japan the right to send thi ship into another countries waters?

So the question is "what will Japan do with the eco pests?"

Australia's EEZ extends beyond territorial limits. So again why are they hunting whales so close to Australia?
