Those are the people who run Saudi Arabia too, and that is supposed to be our ally. Your point?

I don`t understand who you mean by "the terrorists". Terrorism is a tactic, not a state or a political system. Can you define?

" The insanity is invading a country on the other side of the world creating an orgie of blood based on a pack of lies. "

Can we do without the idiot soundbytes? GWB was not invading peacefull little Iraq on a fine day out of the blue for a "pack of lies". There was a long history building up to the invasion, and yes, miscalculations were made.

But brainless slogans like this are not helpful.

" But staying there will exact a greater price on not just Iraq, but the entire world if the U.S. economy start tanking. Which it is. "

If I was to decide: LEAVE! Just be honest about the consequences. Obama has already declared he will pull out, but move back in once Al-Quaida appears in Iraq. In other words: The most ridiculous and costly military U-turn EVER. Talk about insanity!

" You know why the Iraqis, especially the politicians, have been dragging their arses, going on extended vacations and having fun in the green zone instead of working to better their country? "

Repeating it does not make true. How decides what is "good for their country"? The different factions have very different ideas about that, so they will not start working together when the US leaves. They will decide with civil war, and it won`t be pretty.

I agree that the US can not continue to babysit this, but I find intellectually dishonest to claim that that peace will break out when the US leaves.

    SS, rjd,

Did you two read what I wrote? I agree, the US should withdraw. All I am saying is be honest about the consequences. There is no free lunch.

    > " Get the U.S. out of there NOW. There is absolutely no sense in risking American and coalition lives for the sake of hubris and ignorance. "

I agree, but please be honest about what happens next. I find the pure idiocy of Obama and Hillary suggesting that if the US withdraws peace will break out offensive.

Withdraw, but be willing to watch the bloodbath that enfolds as the Shiite militians take over, Al-Quaida moves in to support the Sunnis, and the Kurds and Christians get brutalized by both.

Don´t sit there and demand withdrawal without consequences. That is retarded.

" US have spent $750 million on a fortress “embassy” "

I guess that is the first time I agree with GRoualt. This monster embassy in Bagdad is a farce. They will end up with this huge white elephant in the middle of a permanent war zone, and needing a small armee just to defend it... and alreay now, they don´t find personnel staff it. Understandably... who wants live as live target practise for Al-Sadrs goons?

All because of the ludicrious assumption that Iraq would turn into a blossoming democracy if just Saddam was removed.

Mohammed Al-Baradai is upset he did not get prior information so that he could warn his Syrian co-religionists. What a surprise!

Remember, this is the guy who ignored and white-washed Iran`s secret nuclear program until a group of dissidents (not he!) came out with it and broke the secret.

Talking about putting the fox in charge of the henhouse.

    GRoualt:

" What has Iran ever done to USA? Absolutely nothing! "

Blowing up a barrack full of marines or invading and embassy would generally be called a cause for war. And financing and arming jihadist terror groups in Lebanon and Gazah, not to talk about Iraq, should also count a little, even in your strange book, wouldn't you say?

" Are you trying to link and make an issue of Iran's state religion with Wright and Obama - who happen to former Mohammedans? "

Let us put one thing straight right away: As far as islam is concerned, there is no such thing as a "former Mohammedan". According to Sharia doctrine, leaving islam is impossible. If you do, the punishment is death. (Which Iran has just confirmed in its constitution.) Now that would put a really interesting spin on an visit by Obama to Iran, in addition to the virulent antisemitism of his pastor and their common mentor Louis Farrakhan.

Clever move by Al-Sadr and his Iranian sponsors. The US are in a real pickle here, I just wish so much that one of the 3 prez. candidates would start acknowledging the truth.

    medievaltimes:

" The US will have to decide when and how to pull out. Personaly, as I said before, the war is illegal and I dont think they should be there in the first place. But, now that they are there, I think it would be a worse situation if they suddenly packed up and went home. It would be a disaster for the country, the region and have economical and political consequences world wide that would be greater than if they stayed. "

....and if they stay it is a collossal and open-ended waste of Western ressources and lifes. The whole premise of playing police force (and terrorist cannon fodder) while waiting for a Shiite muslim government to create liberal democracy, which will never happen, is absurd.

I think they should pull out, but be realistic about the bloodbath which follows. To continue acting on an illusion is idiotic.

" But, we attacked for lies. Not in retaliation of an attack. "

Enough already of that tired old soundbyte. "We" did not "attack" Iraq as a "retaliation" for anything; the invasion of Iraq came after an endless string of ultimatea, which SH did not meet.

I would be the last person to call the Iraq quagmire a success, but let us be honest about the basic facts here. Those polemical soundbytes don`t give you credibility.

" This is a Christian saying this. Notice how Palestinian do not use religion to describe their home land but rather ethnicity? Palestinians say Palestine is Arab. Arabs are both Jews, Muslims and Christians. "

Yes, there are Christian antisemites too, and now wonder you would dig up Father Atallah Hanna with his close ties to Arafat.

However, the fact remains: Christian Arabs are being rapidly decimated by the muslims, and Father Hanna´s brown-nosing of the aggressors won`t change that.

And, the fact remains: Although 5% of the Palestinian Arabs are (still) Christian, ZERO percent of the suicide bombers are. Zilch, none.

And the fact remains: The term "Palestinian" to describe muslim Arabs who live in area is an political invention of the 70s. Before the 70s, the word "Palestinian" was not used that way.

" Here is the catch. Palestinian Christians are just as much against the Zionist entity as Palestinian Muslims. "

No, here is the catch: About 5% of the Arabs in the West Bank are Gazah are Christians (as of now... the number is decreasing rapidly because of muslim intimidation), but NONE of the suicide bombers who try to kill Jews is Christian. NONE of the various terrorist groups is Christian -- or can you think of a "Hizb-al-Jesus" or some such?

The Arab Christians are just much victims of muslim violence as are the Jews. And yes, naturally, they can not openly speak against their victimizers, because that would mean quick death.

Btw, how about responding to the facts listed by skipthesong? We should better not wait for answer, right?
