Agreed, they might not achieve much.

Bus as what said while they are talking they are not fighting and killing each other and ruining their economies.

I would assume that this and most CO2 estimates are only based on actual usage.

Look at the Miev Electric Car, yeah zero Co2 emission while driving. But refueling requires Electricity which produces Co2 during its generation.

Producing the Car and keeping/maintaining it running relies heavily on petroleum based products.

Back to Leds yes they consume less power but are made from plastics which are a petroleum product. And their usage might be benefitial and time/cost saving as petroleum products once where.

Here is a link petroleum products: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petroleum_product

    Taiko.

So ANYONE in england can walk into a shop sign up on a contract and has NO need to show ID, etc. So NO green card(or equivalent), Alien registraton card(same as green card), etc is needed?

I would assume that they atleast ask for a valid british ID or international passport.

I don't see such requirements as racism but good business sense, who will hand out contracts to someone that mighty not be around tomorrow to honour it.

I agree and have said so for many years the Veto-power should go. Also the current UNSC members do not accurately represent the current world situation.

I got NO problem eating an animal that was bred and raised for food or caught with the sole purpose of being eaten and/or supply goods like leather, etc.

Yeah, a bigger shop will be better.

You on a 3yr visa? If so you can apply for PR/Eijuken and all those worries will be forgotten.

Got my PR within 3~4yrs of arriving in japan(got here on a spouse visa.

    Best of luck.

    movieguy.

And you think those rules don't exist for non-nationals in other countries? Ask any non-native in your home-country.

If you read Japan Probe about the conditions you will see many people got their phones with no hassles.

Problem seem to be confined to certain shops not the general policy by the company. But many people will get their kickers in knot too easily.

And before you attack me I have been an expat in a few countries and also know how foreigners are treated in my own country. And it ain't pretty anywhere.

As the article mentions "Chow Chow" (my favorite dogs, we used to breed them). The name translates as "Good Good" as they were often eaten during lean times as well as used as sled-dogs.

Would I eat my own Pet, now way.

I say who cares, let them order and eat what they want.

Some of the stuff I eat gets funny looks and some of the meats I eat are even banned for human consumption in the USA but common fare in europe and asia.

    youdonknow.

The actual unit cost is 80.000Yen. The diff between the purchase price and the 80.000yen is split across the monthly fees on the 2-year contract you need to sign.

Not a new technic they do it globally.

    Who really cares.

If you want one and you can get it than all the rules are just so much mush.

No need to get your tush in a knot crying "racism", etc leave that to the debito's who got nothing better to do with their life's.

From the JapanProbe article the FULL price of the IPhone is actually 80.000Yen, way more than a japanese smart-phone. Not surprised and expected as much.

Don't think IPhone has Edy, etc as those are functions for Japan only. I know they don't do 1seg, saifu-keitai don't even get me started on the internal camera way below todays keitai standards. Doubt it can even read those square codes used here.

Just a fancy gimmick, that needs a ton of downloads, etc to do the stuff other devices can.

As for the Softbank rules I say "so what" storm in a tea-cup. Never stopped me from owning anything here.

Don't sound all that different from the guys/gals trying to cross the "Iron Curtain" a few decades ago. There are even books with true stories on how some of them escaped to the west.

You know clinging to the landing gear of jets and nearly freezing to death, etc.

Sorry, was confirmed on the morning news:

IPhone can't take straps, was a major point raised. In short no holes for them.

Not sure about Japanese text as I haven't seen one yet using a japanese interface. Even the one they demoed this morning used an english menu.

    helter-skelter.

LOL, you know about the high-yield reactors used in europe, etc. They chuck out weapons grade plutonium like there is no tomorrow.

France alone holds more weapons-grade plutonium than the whole of the middle east combined.

Yet, you worry about a small state refining a small amount of it and they haven't even got the tech to hit USA soil.

    Get real.

    jinjapan.

DST was introduced many decades ago as an energy saving method it worked and also reduced the use of natural gas for cooking, etc. Granted it was initally proposed more than 100+ years ago.

But the times have changed we now consume more electricity, etc than we did a few decades ago(PC's, Air-con, etc).

So for me DST is not so much about energy savings but more about an increase in living standards/lifestyle, Energy savings are a bonus on top of it.

    Just my view.

    Gogogo.

    Sorry misread your posts.

Fun stuff just got off-line with a friend that is all huff n' puff over the touch screen technolgy.

E-mailed him a pic of me using a touchscreen monitor 27yrs ago, back in the day they wanted to replace the keyboard with touch-screens, didn't take off till ATM's, etc came along and the tech was resurected.

Touch-screen is fine but you need to be be accurate and responses/reaction are slower.

Hence why I don't think the japanese will buy it, if you watched them texting (one-hand) they are FAST.

    Gogogo.

Wait and see what you will really pay at the end.

So far the IPhone is MORE expensive than other smart-phones available, they just hide the charges with the 2-year contract you need to take out.
