yeah ".Hack " is a famous manga.

But don't expect the average JT poster do know that. ;) Only Otaku would know it.

    Not a big deal.

Just some guys don't want to accept that outside tourist areas, business, etc not many people are good at english.

Got to any country in the world and venture outside the tourist areas and you will find few people that can speak english. Said that most immigrants are expected to learn the local lingo.

For me the guys that complain about the poor english ability of japanese, etc are the same guys that will not make an effort to l;earn the local lingo.

Granted lots of factors to it, but I as an european found that by learning even the basics of the local lingo I get treated way better and am more welcome than a guy that throws money around and demands english/german/ etc.

Might be a foreigners, guess the ID-checks on foreigners prior to the G8 summit don't work that well.

Bunch of bollocks. A new import to japan would NOT know how to get into the yard where the train is stored. And I guess Japanese are too dumb to copy 4 english letters and google their meaning.

You guess need to read more grafitti out there, examples been on the increase for years.

    Great thinking guys.

Agreed and I think it is similar stuff that can be expected in other developed countries soon.

UK is close to it already, USA will take a bit more.

Actually lots of japanese(wife included) can speak korean(easy to learn)and thus was a common study. My Wife like myself is fluent in a few languages. Her TOEIC score is 98% and she whines about her poor english (only traveled the globe for 8yrs).

Focus now has shifted from korean to chinese though.

Oops, forgot to mention adults need a different system/learning method than kids. Yet, most language schools still copy the system of kids for adults.

I agree that you can learn a new language at an advanced age.

Myself studying Mandarin now and I am 42, this will be the 4th language that I am fluent in. Know a few others(maybe 15) to get by on travels.

Also agree that you need top be immersed to a certain degree but I found that relying on family as teachers/language partners DON'T work.

Example: For Japanese Kanji studies I found that Heisig worked for me, wasted many years and lots of monies on other systems.

    HTH.

And the USA started WWWIII by their actions in the ME. ;)

Just slower progress. WWII was done and dusted in 7yrs, the ME conflict will go on for a few decades more.

J/K of course, but history will tell.

P.S.: Remember Wars don't start or end with the shooting but they have a build-up and fallout prior/after the fighting.

They should broadcast "Kinchan Kaso Taisho" overseas but I guess like Sasuke (Ninja Warior), Viking the shows are not held often enough.

Other could one would be the one where the pro-sports compete in an athletics tournament(can't recall name). Nice to see the sumo guys showing their skills outside the ring.

As for the wacky TV-Shows those seem to have died some time ago.

I got a gut-feeling that we will have a new war in the ME before the end of the year.

Getting a serious feeling of Deja-Vu here.

I think there are thing missing in that article.

My guess is that they are talking the catered/supplied food at the Olympic village for the athletes. And I would also assume that everybody gets the same/similar food so the cuisine will have been adjusted to suit multiples tastes/cultures. Not everybody likes high-sodium foods.

Most likely the meal-plans with dishes and ingredients been sent to all countries and thus the current situation.

I think it is more of a preventive measure to prevent upset stomachs due to food that the athletes are not used to.

    Just my view.

Because most of them have very little need for english and can happily get by without.

Won't change a thing, as SONY is NOT the only company supporting Blue-Ray and producing players/recorders. National is also behind Blue-Ray and helped develop the tech.

Same way that Toshiba was not the only company behind HD-DVD.

But I doubt that Sony will go down, most of those big companies restructure their business every few years, need to do it to adjust to the changing market.

Hmm, Toshiba won the HD-DVD won the Format war??

WOW, lots of false news report that Blue-ray did and Companies stopped manufacturing/supporting HD-DVD. Some time back.

    Suit yourself.

But explain why Israel DON'T follow UN resolutions, have nukes and no-one sez anything against those(including the USA who is against other nations having them).

If any other country did the same they would have been invaded and put on the terror list already.

But whatever I say will just bounce of you. So have a good one.

So palestine should just lie back and accept being raped by israel because they are weaker and been kept so by Israel for a few decades.

Great arguments and shows your bias.

P.S.: A LOT of the Military hardware that Israel uses has been DONATED by the USA, won't show up any Aid sheets. Same way that the USA will support Israel on 90% of their decisions against palestine and arabs.

    Superlib.

Kinda agree, yet, the living conditions in the gaza strip for the average joe have improved.

Lets face it Israel got the palestinians by the short and curly. They control work permits for workers, food/water/supplies. Israel shuts the border-posts and 70+% of the people can't get to work, ambulances are delayed, no supplies for shops are coming in(you know like food), etc.

IMHO, the Palestinians are on the short end of the stick and naturally they try to fight back. But drop a rocket on Israel and Israel makes a military incursion leveling buildings, dropping bombs, killing civilians.

Call me weird but I feel for the Palestinians more than for the Israeli(who got nukes), etc.

Easy solution to the problem, not really but I think the US needs to pull their support for Israel(Funds, military goods, etc) and let them fight talk on an even level.
