    Heavy impact.

Plastics, Lubes, etc are still oil-based.

Just a plaster at most, majority of the oil industry goes into plastics, clothing, lubricants, etc. Gasoline was is a by-product of the refining process and thus was cheap and pushed electric cars out some 100yrs go.

If you thin you think oil prices affect only fuel/gas prices you are way mistaken. 90+ goes to industries that produce gods we love and cherish in our every day life.

Imagine a car without plastic, lubricants, etc.

Surprised it is not South Africa, as they are also a major meat/beer consuming nation.

Biltong kicks beef jerkies arse all the way.

When I lived there beef was sooo cheap and some of the best burgers I tasted on this globe.

Yet, 10 years on death-row while the appeals, etc are going through is the SAME cost as 40+yrs in general population.

Plus, on Death-row he is isolated to PROTECT him from other inmates. Sounds like a fairly sweet deal. Cell to himself, showers alone, protected and better cared for than the guys in general population.

In reality there is NO closure for the victims and families of them. That is a fallacy.

Killing him won't bring the people back nor will it bring back the years of suffering of going through the trials, etc.

The pain will always be there if he lives or not.

We often see articles on new robot toys and whatnot being made, but has anybody ever met a person who actually owns one?

Raises hand. Got 4 Robots that I build and assembled about $1000+ each. Not the Aibo, etc variety, those are kits you buy and program yourself.

3 are bug/semi-humanoid(wheeled) like but do everything up to voice commands, interact between each other, video hookup to the Net, etc. 4th is a small humanoid robot as it often featured on japanese TV.

Don't go for the ready-made ones sold in shops but than I am an IT guy with over 30yrs of computing experience and a looong interest in robotics.

WHO is about talking anybody dictating anything.

You guys really start to read and rely to what is posted and stop taking things out of context to suit your own needs and agendas.

I am talking about trends and worldwide changes but some people are so opposed to anything that goes against their views that it is sad.

Yet, more and more countries abolish it and are against it and that also comes from the People(capital "P").

    LFRAgain.

Not saying I am disagreeing. But many justice systems pay up top 8xtimes the cost of keeping a guy alive on death-row(often for decades) vs a guy in general populace.

Said that is what is happening in general populace any better than sharia/ancient laws or the guys that would kill the guy themselves?

Don't get me wrong I have NO good feelings for Miyazaki, just don't feel that the death penalty is the right answer.

Yes, at the same time if we give into our feelings of hate and retribution/revenge are we better than them? Or are we superior?

IMO, a mentally disturbed version will do bad deeds no matter what BUT that is their mindset. But WHO gives us the moral high-ground to say they are lower than us and thus deserve death.

I asked this question multiple times here and so far I have been attacked personally and no one stepped up to answer it.

Are we any better than them for wishing a painful end to their lives, etc.

Forgot to add something. (And sorry for the earlier double post)

Here is what I was told by my wife and others after they gave birth.

They felt that after giving birth they had problems relating to the bundle of humanity to the feeling that they had of something growing inside them for 9 months which is now gone. They felt like they lost something.

I can understand it logically but not emotionally. Being a male I was an outsider to those feelings/events only an observer to the pregnancy, just an observer of what happened to my wife but never truly understanding.

The first time I felt like a true father was when I held my son and it was major change in my life.

Just saying that the whole experience is very different between the father and mother.

From personal experience I also go with post-partum-depression.

My Wife had a bad bout after our son was born, luckily I was on parternity leave(2 weeks at my japanese company) during that time. By law you are given 3 days to handle birth registration, etc.

Can't complain about the support we got. We attented the lectures at the muncipial offices where they told us about the depressions, etc what do to and who to contact. Actually the lectures were great as the mothers to be came from the same area and all were due the same time. We exchanged phone-numbers, e-mails, etc and had our own little support group.

Also agree that most japanese mothers-to-be will go home to their parents prior to the birth and spend 1~2 months with them.

Can't complain about the service we got at the hospital as we lived close to a great maternity clinic(10 min. walk).

    Just my experience.

And how do you think your actions would be perceived? Would you be given a vigilante award and a pat on the back and let go free or do you think you would be prosecuted and tried as just another criminal?

But I sense a LOT of aggression in you.

For all the guys that say they would do horrible things to someone that hurt their family. Would your REALLY or are you just postering and talking tough? Or would you sink to the same level of the person that did the crime for the sake of REVENGE only to posibbly end up on deathrow yourself.

Also the Death Penalty so far gives little comfort or closure to the surviving family members. This view has been voiced by many families that watched the executions of murderers, etc.

As for keeping people alive how long have people been kept on death-row in other countries. Compare the cost of keeping a person on death-row for 10 yrs vs 10yrs in general population(it will be an eye-opener).

Death-Row they guys get one-person cels are kept from other prisoners to PROTECT them. There are more guards per prisoner than in general population.

Why because most of those guys wouldn't survive long in general population .

    Do some research.

Because the death sentence advocates always claim it is a deterrent.

Just find it strange that people want the death sentence for someone that killed 1 person and YET people that extorted money, drug dealers, people that ruined companies, etc can spend a few years in jail and than walk free to do it again.

Who caused more suffering and did more damage the murderer or the guy that ruined a company and impacted employees, investors, etc.

Of course dead people can't re-offend, neither can people imprisoned for life. But how do we know that they would re-offend, we don't as they are dead and thus never had a chance to show us either way. Good or bad. Dead people are not proof of anything besides that they are dead.

Seems to be people here are talking with their emotions and/or , personal views here and not with logic.

IMO, This started when the IOC allowed Pro's to compete in the Olympics.

Pro's by definition already got an advantage over amateur athletes. The Olympics used to be the one major event where amateurs could prove them selves and possibly move into the pro-field.

Pro's got tons of events to show what they can do and get metals in which amateurs are not allowed to compete.

At the Beijing Olympics they will have the first guy(Runner) moving over from the paralympics, as he has custom-made prothesis that allow him to compete in the races against able-bodied runners.

For me these days the Olympics is more about money, corporate sponsor, etc. Where did the sportsmanship, etc go?

I prefer the Paralympics as they are still closer to the Olympic ideal and the athletes really work hard and give up a lot to attend them.

    Just my view.

For met there is one reason where the death-penalty fails miserably as a deterrent. The state can only execute you ONCE, doesn't matter if you killed/tortured, etc one or many people.

Also executions these days are done as "humane" and quick as possible via injections, etc.

So many will say if I get the Death Penalty I will make it worthwhile.

FYI, I am against the death-penalty and happy that my country abolished it.

And you are just anti-anything non-us.

IF the USA is that great than you shouldn't need to remind us about it in every one of your posts. How superior and better you guys are. It gets boring and only creates anti-american feelings and make people dislike people like you.
