If the US wants to tighten border controls to prevent foreigners from coming in, so be it just don't use 911 to justify it. 911 is NOT the magic pill to sort all your problems.

Yep, 911 happened the rest of the world has terrorist attacks nearly daily and has done so for a few decades. I remember the PLO, etc blowing stuff up in my home-town, etc.

Ok, lets tighten the entry restrictions from europe, japan, etc "7 yrs" after 911, this means in the 7yrs the terrorists could have put an army in place in the US via that route. Huh? Also the 15 that did 911 I can assure you had help from people already in the US.

So it don't make sense to use 911 to justify things. Maybe the US realized we didn't do enough earlier on and is now scrambling to cover their behinds.

But as I and other(some Americans) said it will most likely hurt you guys more than it will do to prevent terrorists from getting in. Some of my US-friends are so fed up now that even they don't want to go back home.

Fewer tourists, students and business-travelers will come to the US, fewer non-US citizens will feel good about the US and be wiling to buy their products, etc.

Ask, yourself. Can the US afford it? With the current recession, etc.

    Just my view.

    There is NO solution.

Like all the burglar prevention all they can do is slow a burglar down but the determined ones will get in and/or will find a way around them.

You can control all the entry-ports you want and like I said they can use the mexican border, take a boat over from Cuba, etc.

But trying to pass those measures of as "anti-terrorism" is an insult to our intelligence. Same with the japanese finger-printing.

Got to agree US-Beef is not all that cheap here. Not even at Seiyu(Walmart owned).

Maybe Costco, Carrefour, etc but those are fairly remote and you need a car to get there.

I think it will impact a bit more than just tourism.

As a non-US citizen I need to jump through more hoops now than it took me to travel into russia 25yrs ago.

Yet, they want me to buy their products and support them. Hmmm, let me think ...

But I wonder why Japan is importing this meat.

Easy, because Japanese live fin-whale meat but don't hunt fin-whales. Norwegians too as they reckon fin-whales are plenty.

Said that the BBC article I linked stated that there is NO market for Whale meat in Norway and it also states that the Japanese did NOT officially request the meat which they must do so via the japanese goverment.

Doubt that those new rules will do anything to prevent terrorists from getting into the US.

They can always get smuggled in like the thousands of other illegal immigrants(Mexican Border, etc) or simply use people that will not trigger any of those checks. Or forbid hire from within the US borders.

What it will do though, is hurt more business travelers and further reduce the number of tourists. Already many companies no longer send their employess to the states for training or business visits.

That Tuna won't make it to Tsukiji, will be sold locally most likely.

Tsukiji is more for frozen tuna that was caught in Europe, Australia, by the locals and than sold to Japan.

I have also used a Harnes/Leash with my son. But we lived in kichijoji and the area gets crowded on the weekends and lots of traffic too.

IWC - is there to control whaling to protect the species. If research shows that limited whaling can be sustained they will allow it.

Now Australia and New Zealand are trying to push their own "anti-whaling" agenda under the guise of the IWC.

Sounds like one of the storm-drains/ditches that often run alongside roads and walking streets.

In many areas they are covered concrete slabs in others they are left open.

Actually Manga-Kissa has nothing to do with a library at all.

A Kissa(Kissaten) is a coffee-shop. A Manga-kissa also has a selection of Manga that you can read after having bought food and drink.

Buying Food and Drink pays for your time there to being allowed to read their books. A lot of Manga-Kissa now also offer Internet access(i.e. Internet cafe), etc.

A lot of the Manga-Kisaa are open 24hrs so a great place to wait for the 1st train in the morning.

    HTH.

I think part of it is that the cops here are held accountable and their failures are national news.

How many other countries report the blunders of their police forces?

Not talking about blunders where cops pump 55 bullets into a car because they felt they were under fire, etc.

I know a few cops here and overseas and on average the japanese cops get my respect. Could they do better, etc in some cases for sure.

Also agree with Cleo most of the scoffers here I think would themselves break a law trying to solve a case or similar.

BTW, in the case of those date-clubs the girls give their real ages as the know younger ages will get higher pay.

You really need to read up on the subject, even the codes they use to advertise themselves are published.

    rtrhead1.

Most coutnries got a law if you take a girl home from a club that has a "No under 18 limit" you are not responsible. The club is for allowing under age 18 kids in.

If a club sez no "Under 18's allowed" will YOU check the id of the girl you pick up, I guess NOT.

You need to get up to date.

My point being is that the girls are NOT victims but are instigators by signing up to date-sites offering their services, etc. And thus should be prosecuted as such, rather than being treated as poor damsel, etc.

Don't get me wrong the date-sites are as wrong to let them sign-up same way night-clubs are wrong to let them into in to attract guys.

It all boils down to bucks get a ton of ton of young ladies and the guys will follow who will spend the bucks.

    Nothing new.

My point is is that they are fully aware. It is only considered wrong because men say so. Men say so because they want to control women.

Can't disagree. But those are the times. Take it back 100yrs(if that much) and it would be fine(sex with a 10yr old prostitute was common). Anywhere on the globe.
