    Oops, forgot to mention adults need a different system/learning method than kids. Yet, most language schools still copy the system of kids for adults.

    I agree that you can learn a new language at an advanced age.

    Myself studying Mandarin now and I am 42, this will be the 4th language that I am fluent in. Know a few others(maybe 15) to get by on travels.

    Also agree that you need top be immersed…

    Just slower progress. WWII was done and dusted in 7yrs, the ME conflict will go　on for a few decades more.

    Not really, at my last job we send IT engineers out to other companies and they were asked to do stuff beyond the contract and their fields of work too.

    Very common practice in Japan.

    Anybody seen the report on the other verification system that uses face recognition. They showed on TV how it can be fooled by using a magazine featuring a famous person.

    Since I have never been stopped and asked for my ID in my 12+ｙｒｓ here.

    Here is how I would handle that situation. If approached and asked for ID/Passport I would open my wallet and show the officer my "Alien Registration Card". SHOW it not hand it over.

    Forgot to add I am also stunned by the tons of foreigners living here that can't even speak BASIC Japanese, which can be learned for FREE in most wards.

    I am actually quiet stunned by the tons of foreigners I meet here that CAN'T speak english. Yes, they only know their native tongue and Japanese(usually pretty good).

    I think too many foreigners still live in a "Dream state" where everybody has to cater to them. They never put themselves…
