WII in japan has more games/titles for adults than the wee ones.

They cover a ton of other stuff like Yoga, health, etc same with the DS(they now even got an adapter to watch TV on the DS).

I would say in Japan the major market now is adults vs kids for both the WII and the DS.

Not surprising as the population ages the focus shifts, who got the REAL money now the teens or the baby-boomers.

Most companies worldwide now target the 40+ crowd vs the teen market. Been happening for years when the companies like BMW, etc started to market to the baby-boomers (50+ crowd) vs the newly-rich.

Hate to trump my own horn, but my company caters for the guys that like the old 70's and 80's Bikes. Doing a killing customizing and painting them, myself part of the crowd so we speak the same lingo.

Watch out for the 80's to kick in shortly just part of the 20~30 year cycle.

ANY different from juror systems anywhere else?

Recall a few trials that been moved to a different county/state as the "convict" would not have gotten a fair trial in the state where the crime was commited. Or where jurors were accused as being too caucasian, etc.

Heck, I remember movies from the 60's and 70's about the very same problem coming from the west.

Don't even need to go that far back "12 Angry Men" from 1997. Granted might be a remake.

Forgot to add, your knees around Head/Neck make a perfect brace. Just sit there supporting the helmet/head using your thighs/knees.

I remember an accident maybe 2yrs back when a Delivery-bike got hit by a car after pulling out from a passage across the road.

Rushed over and saved the girls life as ALL the by-standers wanted to pull her helmet off, etc. She had a fractured skull I noticed the symptoms and prevented them from doing so, also imobilized her neck(standard procedure).

Medics arrived and thanked me. If she had moved her neck or if the helmet had been removed she would have died or been paralyzed. Untrained/Uneducated bystanders can kill a an injured party.

People need to leave it up to the Pro's, pulling a knife out of a wound WILL cause more damage than it entering.

I agree Ambulance drivers in japan are not EMS personnel from overseas.

Said that in my home-country when you go for your drivers licence you NEED to take a 3-day First-aid course. LAW is you need to carry a First-aid kit on your car/bike/whatever and you NEED to give aid at a scene, fail to do so and you will be charged.

Downside is that cops can stop you at 02:00am(being bored) to check your first-aid kit to see if it is stocked per the law, never mind the bulbs needed to fix lights burned out/damaged, etc on the vehicle. Yeah, we need to carry a full set of spare bulbs, fuses, etc.

Sounds maybe draconian to some, but we all carry warning triangles, jump-leads, etc to help another guy.

Personally, so far I had no probs with the ambulance drivers here, they treated me well when I needed them.

Situations like Akiba are extreme and I feel that most services will be pushed to the max and might make mistakes.

You will find that both will be charged, regardless of who is the guilty party.

Happens in many countries. A driver also needs to drive in away to avoid a vehicle blocking the road. Which can happen by accidents, etc.

Fun side-story: Back home when your stopped car crossed the white line you would get fined as it is illegal. Two options: 1.) Excessive speeding and thus failing to stop in time 2.) For faulty breaks which prevented you stopping in time.

Interesting titbit on japanese law. Lets say a car hits a bicycle, it is the drivers fault so he will be charged. But the damage/sentence will be reduced if the Bicycle rider did stupid things like holding an umbrella, texting, etc.

IN addition the damages payout to the bicycle rider will also be reduced by the goverment and insurance company.

Happened to a friend she she was found as being partially guilty to the accident and only got 70% of the payout vs 100% if she tried to hold an umbrella to keep dry.

    I am with sezwho2.

Wars are NOT fought for reasons like X don't like us, X attacked us but for economic reasons. I.e. they got resource Y and I want it, etc.

Yeah, the colonial powers didn't help by using a straight-edge to define Borders, etc.

Empires grow because they need to expand to get more resources, etc But once they reach a certain size they start to collapse. It is build-in. Right now the USA is in the need for expansion phase, IMHO.

Never mind that most of the US adversaries are pushed by a long degree to attack their home-land. How many missiles from N.Korea, Iraq, Iran, etc can hit the USA?

How many of those nations can invade the USA physically, right now it is that isolation from other world-events that give the US powers. as much as did the military might of the roman, mongol empire, etc.

Don't have to be military expansion can be economical, etc. The British goverment tried to control their colonies via the "Opium wars", etc.

    Just my view.

    P.S.: Dons asbestos suit.

This is a pure academic question.

What is the ratio of "peaceful" presidents(ie never served) that didn't take the country to war vs Presidents that did it and served(Not counting actual war experience here due to GWB and possible others). Forgive me for that.

I don't think they have much influence, not more than books, etc.

Yes, a certain percentage of the population can be influenced by them but so could they be other means and media.

When I was young we played "Cowboys and Indians", shot each other with slingshots, spud-guns and clay from blowpipes.

Than along came D&D/RPG's and was said to be satanic, than video games, etc. Never mind how comics were looked own as a bad influence and being too violent.

Things like WOW are just the digital equivalent of those adventure books( you know read a section make a choice than jump to the next section) we used to read or the RPG's we used to play.

Lots of the children books we now read to our children were banned and actually anti-establishment when they were published.

Remember going to see "Watership Down"(NOT a childrens story) paretns took their tods to see it. The little ones screamed their heads off becuase they were so scared but the parents enjoyed it so didn't leave the theater.

You know it was "cute" rabbits & animated so it MUST be for the kiddies.

Last film was done by Miyazaki Jr. not Hayao Miyazaki.

Also there is a difference between the movies that Takahata and Miyazaki do.

I agree that japanese has a lot of exception to rules, which in turn got exceptions than you get exceptions to the exsceptions. Even my japanese teachers called it nuts and couldn't explain it, their answer was it is learned/experienced.

German is a very strict language and you can't vary from the rules. I should know as I learned it as a babe. Granted NOT familiar with the new simplified german gramar rules as they came in after I learned it.

Being able to speak 4 languages(fluent plus others somewhat) you also need to learn the culture in order to understand the language. Any translator will tell you that translating is NOT straight forward and often relies on cultural, etc concepts.

    No dig at anyone.

    USAR.

NO it is the few nations that WON'T abide by the rules that they themselves set that are causing the MAJORITY of the problems now.

Maybe go and reread "Animal Farm". ;)

IMHO, what is wrong with the UN and the ICC right now is that some nations feel they are above it all.

Look at the squabbling anything happens that they don't like they threaten to take their toys and leave.

Some nations think that the UN is there to do their bidding and if they don't get their way it is inefficient, etc. Which is funny because those same nations set the standards and rules but refuse to be judged by them or even follow them themselves.

Those same nations also refuse any changes that would make those organizations more efficient as it would weaken their own position.

In order for the UN, etc to work EVERYBODY needs to participate and check their ego at the door.

Not a case of all pigs are equal but some are more equal.

    USAR.

NOT a bluff. For a long time it was considered the brits for the boer-war, till the civil war records were closely examined.

Yes, the Germans NEVER invented it, they might have perfected it the honour for invention goes to the USA.

I would LOVE you to show me proof to the contrary.

I called you out on a few occasions to show counter-proof so far zilch, nada, nothing, nichts, zero.

You talk big and make big statements but never back them up. I told you about anderson prison camp and you got nothing to say about it.
