More escalation like this. Hamas are genocidal scum, backed by Iran. I hope Israel finishes them off and goes after their supporters inside Iran. Let the UN, EU and Russia shake their lil fists.

"Meanwhile, the US economy sinks even further into the abyss, putting the livelihoods and lives of millions at risk."

But the downturn means less consumption, less pollution, less of that imaginary global warming. The mostest, biggest threat facing mankind!

    Right?

In his last interview, recorded with Hamas TV on Wednesday, Rayan was as defiant as ever about confronting the Israeli military.

“Oh fighters, know that you will be victorious,” he said. “God promises us either victory or martyrdom. God is greater than they are, God is greater than their planes, God is greater than their rockets.”

You'd think these Hamas nutjobs would learn. Rayan's predecessor, "spiritual leader" Sheikh Ahmed "Meals on Wheels" Yassin, was vapourised by an IDF missile strike. All the bravado just paints a bigger target.

That's a big purple finger in the eye of every anti-liberation "pacifist" out there.

Big day for the international Left.

El Supreme Caudillo has enjoyed 50 years of absolute power.

More proof of that civil war the "pacifist" Left has long hoped for: control of the Green Zone in Baghdad was handed over today to Iraqi forces.

    (AP)

BAGHDADThe United States handed over control of the Green Zone and Saddam Hussein's presidential palace to Iraqi authorities on Thursday in a ceremonial move described by the country's prime minister as a restoration of Iraq's sovereignty.

smithinjapan:"Iraq was a lost cause from the get-go, and the attempts to form a coup seem to be growing..."

They do? The recent article about the alleged coup-in-the-making was debunked from what I read. But then, JT (and most of the major media) have little interest in reporting follow-up articles on the more sensational stories out of Iraq.

The excitable silliness this selective reporting engenders, evident in the second half of this quote, shows why:

"Iraq was a lost cause from the get-go, and the attempts to form a coup seem to be growing, not to mention the shoe-tossers. "

One journo, pro-Shiite and by reports obsessed with the story about a US soldier using the Q'uran for target practice, tossed his shoes at a president who makes trips to Iraq less than once a year. Lefties rushed here to insist the reporter was later tortured and some intimated he would be "disappeared". Surely such prospects (along with, even you know, the fact that Bush is gone in three weeks) would deter Iraqis seeking to repeat this Arab display of contempt, wouldn't they?

So, where are the stories of these growing numbers of shoe-tossers, other than in the imaginations of the same "pacifists" who predicted (wished for would be more accurate) civil war in Iraq?

It's amusing to watch the lengths the media goes to in their efforts to avoid saying US and coalition forces have won in Iraq.

I suspect things may change somewhere around the third week this month...

Some good among all the bad:

It was the year the world basically said sayonara to anthropogenic "global warming."

The only truce or peace accord even worth acknowledging has to come from Hamas' financiers and military trainers - the mullahs who rule Iran.

Anything less transparent is annulled by their openly genocidal, Islamo-fascist charter.

Moderator: Please do not use the word Islamofascist. It is meaningless, inflammatory and has no place in an exchange of views among mature adults.

Why should Israel accept a truce when Hamas won't even allow wounded Gazans access to the free medical care awaiting them in Egypt? Nothing provides clearer proof that Hamas wields absolute control.

"Israel clearly wants to take back the Gaza strip and eliminate the Palestinians, and there seems little or nothing the Palestinians can do in return. "

It's like talking to a child.

Israel completely pulled out of Gaza more than three years ago.

The "Palestinians" could have done anything with that land. Tourism, finance, trade, the opportunities awaited them.

Instead, they destroyed the infrastructure, tore down buildings the Israelis left behind.

American philanthropists saw their good works rejected.

["Bill Gates secretly paid for Gaza greenhouses Deal to 'enhance peace process,' but Palestinians stripped, looted facilities" http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=49710]

Again, one-sided calls for America to do something are transparent.

    Hamas is backed by Iran.

"Pacifists" in cases like this are, as Orwell pointed out, objectively pro-fascist.

It's amazing how easily they were and are still called out:

"Pacifist propaganda usually boils down to saying that one side is as bad as the other, but if one looks closely at the writings of the younger intellectual pacifists, one finds that they do not by any means express impartial disapproval but are directed almost entirely against Britain and the United States. Moreover they do not as a rule condemn violence as such, but only violence used in defense of the western countries."

    ~ George Orwell

"Israel, under international pressure, is considering a 48-hour halt to its punishing four-day air campaign on Hamas targets in Gaza..."

I guess by international pressure they are referring to things like the fire-bombing and storming of the British Embassy in Teheran yesterday - an act of war, by the way - carried out by "students" who, we are supposed to believe, did this against the wishes of their president, who has only recently returned from lecturing the infidels in England.

    The Hamas charter states:

"There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad."

Really puts in a tight spot those who blame Israel, those who claim religion is unrelated to the hostilities, and those who insist that Islam is by and large a peaceful religion, and that jihad is misunderstood by "Islamophobes".

I do enjoy watching them squirm.

    "Palestinians" love their misery.

What other conclusion can be arrived at when you review the history of the conflict and the steps "leaders" like Arafat or the current bunch of Hamas goons have taken after each and every one of their many defeats?

Theocratic, Shiite Iran has no historical justification for pretenses to an alliance with Sunni "Palestine" but of course that little fact sails over the heads of the eager little dhimmis on the Left.

    Lefties are so excitable:

They're the same kind of people who some nearly 70 years ago sat down and came up with a final solution to rid the world of a certain people once and for all.

Nearly all of us can agree that that was one of the worst mistakes in human history, and one of our greatest tragedies.

Look how well Hamas take care of their own subjects:

Hamas officials say 271 Palestinians have been killed and 600 wounded since Israel began its aerial assault on the Gaza Strip on Saturday, but none of the injured have yet left via Rafah. Egypt has helicopters and doctors on standby at the Rafah crossing. There are also up to 40 ambulances waiting to go into Gaza to bring out the most seriously wounded. Tonnes of medical supplies have arrived at the nearby airport of El-Arish.

But the Egyptian authorities say that, at the moment, they have no-one to treat.

Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said the wounded were "barred from crossing" and he blamed "those in control of Gaza" for putting the lives of the injured at risk.
