I used to like him. Then I stumbled across the following clip on youtube and quickly came to love him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1G1cp_NRMqs&feature=fvst RIP Robin.

Yep, sounds like an accidental hit followed by an intentional run. Terrible for all involved.

It was a great tournament. It would have been great if Kakuryu had won, but credit to Hakuho for his two wins today.

Not surprised that everyone stampeded the hell out of there, but I would be interested to know if any good samaritan types didn't try to stop the attack. Of course, it is easy to talk brave at home sat at my computer desk, and in reality my first reaction would be to bolt, but on the other hand a 70 year old granny...... there must be some cctv about...

It really was a good goal, with a superb finish. Hopefully it can be the start of many years of goals in English footy for the lad, as well as for the Japan National team.

Yes indeed, large struggling companies realising there is a lot of dough to be made through the untimely deaths of 80's pop icons. I wonder if Prince and Madonna aren't starting to feel a bit nervous.......

I'm with you on that one Piltdown Man. It's hard to believe that it could happen 4 times. Once yes, but after the second time, assuming that both incidents were reported, you would think alarm bells would have started ringing somewhere out there.....

True JohnBecker. The daily updates back in the days were handy, although almost all of the comments came from haters, who seemed to feel that foreigners were either being marginalised or killing the sport, and that Asashoryu was either god or the devil incarnate, so I don't blame JT for stopping. Hopefully now if the sumo can stay good, and the haters can stay away, daily updates will return.

For the first time in a long time I watched about half of the days of this tournament, and I've got to say I really enjoyed it. Good to see a few of the Ozeki's stepping up, and great to see Baruto win it. It should be a cracker on Sunday when he meets Hakuho!

Fantastic news and a beautiful kimono. It's no more than Sawa San deserves. I wonder if she got to have a private word with Messi, out of the presence of Japanese comic buffoons???

Agreed with the above, and again, not wanting to be a hater, but I'm always confused by the "to make Japan happy" quotes and gimmicks that you see scattered about the place. A 40 m Tower of Hope......surely not. All of us JT readers have loads of Japanese friends, and I'm pretty sure very very few of them could give a monkeys behind about that sort nonsense, so why do these bands, groups and telento seem so intent on belittling the J public. I and the J wife are inspired by the Japanese Football girls, even Asada Mao in the last couple days, but Exile's tower of hope......

come on Elbuda, things aren't that bad. JForce is right about the attitude of some truckers, but then nothing can really compare with the recklessness of some of the cyclists I have seen out and about in Japan. Until more info comes out it's hard to lay blame, and in these situations the J cops tend to just arrest the driver of the larger vehicle, and ask questions later. Laws for cyclists wouldn't hurt. Helmets too.

Great footballing display last night! It was a pleasure to watch. That you tube link is great. I had turned off the tele by then, but already prior to that incident I had been wondering who those jokers were, and why they were given so much air time, especially when they had other people such as Sawa San who I would have much preferred to hear from. I don't blame the comedians though. It is the show producers who should having a hard look at themselves this morning. Another low point was the J pop girls 20 minutes before kick off. Without wanting to sound like a hater, they were poor. If we must be subjected to J pop, then there must surely be better groups than that available on a Sunday night.

I don't see alot of merit in these "China Should Grow Up" claims. Very few western nations, nor Japan, can claim too much of a moral high ground regarding empire building! The one thing which struck me when this issue first came to light was just how far away the Islands are from Japan. Okinawa is close, but then how long has Okinawa been Japanese?? An old liberal Japanese gaffer I once talked to compared it to the Falklands War i.e. an old colonial power trying to keep control of something 1000's of miles away from them.

Great to see the Nadeshiko up the top. I hope they continue to hold the limelight, and do well at the olympics etc.... also I wonder if the founder, manager of AKB is presently seething over this snub??

Well said Tamanegi. Didn't the cops stop chasing because they weren't sure how big the drop was on the other side of the wall........USELESS.
I know that this all seems tasteless, and for a foreigner in Japan it feels very close to home, but at the same time, if it had been the case of a movie being made about a foreigner getting murdered in the UK, I hardly think I would have bothered to click the link. Anybody know how his appeal is going?

True Smith. The only positive I can see from this is that it further undermines a man whose credibility rating is already next to zero. Shady elections, in which the only real candidate left was......Blatter, vote buying and bribes paid for World Cup hosting rights, not to mention all the faffing around after the last world cup with Goal line tech, and that is all in the last 16 months. If you could morph together the World Whaling Commission and Russian Democracy, you would have a organisation similar to what FIFA looks like under Blatter. For the sake of World Footy, Blatter has to GO!!!
