As to humour, it is in the eyes of the beholders.

Actually, in Japan the beholders do not count. The relations between the telent offices and TV stations are all that count.

You will never see a nobody like the Boyle woman or a show like American Idol here, because those stories undercut the talent offices here, who own entertainment (if you can call it that) in Japan.

That is why tards like Nakai from SMAP can call themselves "singers."

Also to non-Americans, if you have never seen one of these US Congress whitch hunts before, yesterday's was EXTREMELY tame and uneventful.

We treat our own with much more distain than they treated Toyoda yesterday.

US government is treating Toyota differently than they would GM or Chrysler

Not sure about that. I remember GM and Chrysler heads getting chastized for flying to congress to testify. They were ridiculed and flogged in public for asking for public funds. They did not even kill US citizens and were treated like that.

On the news this morning I saw:

    1) 10 minutes on how Mao Asada will beat Kim Yuna 2) 2 minutes on how the big three auto maker state reps were bullying this poor man 3) A quick cut to a "special feature" of two comedians in grasshopper costumes hitting each other with squeaky plastic hammers

Then I went to work... Amazed NHK wants to charge me for having a TV and watching this garbage.

Regarding changing money, just go to the little 2nd floor store above the adult shot in Akihabara and they change your money at a better than bank rate in 2 minutes. No forms and no questiosn asked.

Japanese media covers the Olympics? I must be watching the wrong channel. All I see is Japanese "athletes" finishing 6th and 11th but can't see footage of who they are competing against.

What channel is this olympics thing you all are atalking about broadcast on?

since curling is one of the few events you do not have to be stronger or faster than your opponent, I suppose Japan has a shot. Losers

tkoind2 you are very correct. This silly plan is based on the idea Japanese will use their paid holiday vacations. They won't, this will only make people work more.

When it whips out a pistol and starts to shoot the audience, Toyota will cut the cameras, escort out the press and debate the pros and cons of recalling the robot, depending on how much it will cost them.

LFRAgain relax. This is not a conspiracy against a Japanese company. It is payback to a company that hid mistakes in its products that were killing people, and that company happens to be Japanese.

NHTSA was paid off to look the other way. That certainly won't happen again after this, thanks to Toyota.

Toyota is now "just another car maker" (as a car maker expert said) thanks to their own fault and bloated ago.

I think this guy know more than any of us on the subject:

said John Heitmann , a University of Dayton professor who specializes in automotive history. "This won't kill Toyota , but it will level them to a playing field they're not used to: Being just another car company like everyone else."

Toyota, ANA.. I think the time has come for Japanese companies to respect their customers instead of being "symbols of Japan"
